Word of the Day. “Tek Screw” plus you will sending me 2 fender guards that I just bought for my HQ Which should be back on the road in August after 15 years
Word of the day Resurrection !
G'day guys, It's been a great series. The engine looks awesome. You've bought back some great memories. So, thanks for the channel. Word of the day. Ridgi-didge. ✌️ Peace from Melbourne/Pakenham 3810.
Yeah I remember when I had a 161 I put a 149 head on and gave it moor grunt those were the days so easy to work on I also had a welsh plug go in the back off the motor in one of the cars when we were out rabbit hunting and camping chuck some pepper in it and got us home good to see the next generation getting into the old cars cheers 🍻 guys keep up the good work.🤠🍺👍
The amount of times you both said that you love it. That just shows how nice it can be to just have a good BASIC car. Little smooth driving STOCK 161 3 on the tree. I know it’s not yours it’s the Tinmans. But I would love it if it was just left stock. Even if before you start to modify it take it for a few good drives and see how much fun it is. Everyone is too focused on high HP and low 1/4 mile times they forget about the fun of just driving. And the best thing about a car like that is reliability. All you need to carry is a spare tire and fan belt and maybe a set of points and it will always get you home.
No shed skid ? Good work gents, so happy to see it running and moving !!!
HG = Hackshop Garage. My first car was a HT Kingswood, then I added a HK Monaro. I'll avoid the "if only" talk. Word for the day BULLPIT.
Battery isolator should be on the negative cable👍
Word of the Day ...Done.....
what you guys need is a vacuum bleeder i got a snap on one and my lord makes a world of a difference
Well done lads cant wait to see the cortina👍

Driving Miss Daisy
Word of the day: d-d-d-decals
Well done guys....
good job guys, but when you set the ignition timing disconnect the vacuum advance.
I recon driving it at at that eat level is sic. You guys should chop the roof.
Lumber support
Yep,seen the 2 (tickety) 3 on the bench previously and I'm genuinely excited. Giddyup.
Another great build
It's great to watch the progress, TIMING is usually set with the vacuum advance disconnected. Great video fella's, I always enjoy them and look forward to the next ☺
Finished ... is surely the word of the day.
Mint! Well done boys
What a ripper job boys it runs mint We need to get into our other ht ute
161 was the smoothest running of the holden 6's.

Thought it was the 149
Engine bay looks 😘👌🏻 Great series, thanks fellas!
You fellas have me missing mine so much. It was identical but auto... It's actually floating around on the market at the moment but it's original tags have been taken after my ownership unfortunately 😞 I've got a HG GTS now in the same colour 😊
Word of the day "Spicey"
Lumber!
Heater core 😃
Great work lads.
Nice job 👍
Good job boys once again. 2 words of the day. HG = How Good!
Lads did you guys disconnect the vacuum advance when setting the timing? Also don't forget to set the points dwell angle, because that's more important then the points gap.. remember *smaller points gap = to larger dwell angle and *larger points gap = to smaller dwell angle. I will run mint after you do your idle mixtures. Great work, lads, and now get that Cortina in there and piss of that nugget.

Hey mate, we did disconnect the vacuum advance, but as for the dwell angle… we will have to figure out how to do that 😅
@veljo10z

All you need is a automotive multimeter with dwell angle.
Awesome 👌Ive really enjoyed the HG, but also lookin forward to the Cortina
Word of the Day "Lumber support"
Should stick some extractors on it and a cam, just because 😅
Gonna be a shame not seeing the weekly HG uploads! Glad to see it run under its own power out of the shed.
Splendid Love this build as an owner of a 3 on the tree HZ 202 owner.
Just be careful with that flame near a fuel tank.... fumes...tik tik boom
Well done boys. Word of the day "Finished"
Great work guys! This is classic project material. Easy to deal with, easy to plumb, and no need for ECU sensors to wire in. I have those bulkhead connectors for my relocated battery also. Great invention haha
Word of the day "Lumber"
Amasing work lads such a victory.what Done is word of the day for sure.
Very Elegant Build😊 love it
Great video Word of the day Classic.
Elbow out the window yep that so aussie
Word of the day is luscious
on holdens you sometimes can get awa with doing the timing with the Vac Adavance on ( but it should be done with the Vaccume hose disconnected ) or you risk running your timing retarded, Ps use the choke butterfly on cold starts it helps
As someone who dailys a stock 202 red why replace the 161 red it's a gem of an engine
At work, when I have a list of things to do and I dont get to do them all, I sometimes write new items on the list and cross them off so i feel better about not getting to all (any of) the items on the list.
Gents I would mount the Battery on the other side of The boot well away from the fuel filler neck , Petrol fumes and electrical systems do not play well together

I thought the same thing too

Rear mounted battery is on the filler side of both my cars and my last two as well. Non issue.

You do realise electricity goes inside the fuel tank for the level gauge sender and powering fuel tanks in EFI cars.....
EPA Approved!!
Did you put an earth strap to the engine block? I assume you did but it didn't show you making it.
@HackshopGarage

Yes we did mate, just didn’t show it on camera
Word of the day, well it's two. Tek screw
Why did you paint a Holden red motor orange
The 253 is painted the same colour as a Gemini.......or is the Gemini painted the same colour as a 253.....hmmmmmm🤔
There is no way in this world would I ever mount a battery near a fuel tank. The battery needs to be located elsewhere. I reckon that 161 would survive a nuclear holocaust & still go! Word of the day is: Synchro
These guy have no respect for a classic car
1st again
