Yeah I remember when I had a 161 I put a 149 head on and gave it moor grunt those were the days so easy to work on I also had a welsh plug go in the back off the motor in one of the cars when we were out rabbit hunting and camping chuck some pepper in it and got us home good to see the next generation getting into the old cars cheers 🍻 guys keep up the good work.🤠🍺👍

The amount of times you both said that you love it. That just shows how nice it can be to just have a good BASIC car. Little smooth driving STOCK 161 3 on the tree. I know it’s not yours it’s the Tinmans. But I would love it if it was just left stock. Even if before you start to modify it take it for a few good drives and see how much fun it is. Everyone is too focused on high HP and low 1/4 mile times they forget about the fun of just driving. And the best thing about a car like that is reliability. All you need to carry is a spare tire and fan belt and maybe a set of points and it will always get you home.

Lads did you guys disconnect the vacuum advance when setting the timing? Also don't forget to set the points dwell angle, because that's more important then the points gap.. remember *smaller points gap = to larger dwell angle and *larger points gap = to smaller dwell angle. I will run mint after you do your idle mixtures. Great work, lads, and now get that Cortina in there and piss of that nugget.

on holdens you sometimes can get awa with doing the timing with the Vac Adavance on ( but it should be done with the Vaccume hose disconnected ) or you risk running your timing retarded, Ps use the choke butterfly on cold starts it helps

There is no way in this world would I ever mount a battery near a fuel tank. The battery needs to be located elsewhere. I reckon that 161 would survive a nuclear holocaust & still go! Word of the day is: Synchro
