Genial video, me encantó.

just the main idea and few words...if you wasn't to speak fluently you have to study and in some cases study even HARDER than a different language ben cause it's very easy to mix the 2 languages (I was recognized from many spanish teachers and i'm one of the few italiani that doesn't mix the 2 languages and speak spanish properly and when i hear italiani speaking Spanish i notice that often they use words that are almost the same in italian and spanish but not the same.....sure small differences but if you want to be very accurate probably it's even harder than other languages

Spanish is my 2nd language and the only reason why I understand italian and to an extent French is because I took the classes in high school, if it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t be about to pick up on some of the words that differ from what we use in Spanish... Portuguese on the other hand is much more similar to Spanish but you have to get used to the accent and pronunciation change, like final “l” gets pronounced like a “u”, intervocalic t = tch and d = dj , Spanish double rr is j in Portuguese but it’s the same in Puerto Rican Spanish which is the Spanish dialect I speak so there’s no difference there, double ll in Portuguese is “sh”, those are the changes I usually usually use to translate Portuguese into Spanish so I can understand. But Italian and French will use completely different words, so you have to pick up on a lot of different vocabulary words.

As an Italian, I find it more difficult to understand a Portuguese than a Spanish speaker, because of the different pronounciation. Instead, when written they are both fairly easy to understand. Most of the words are very similar. Some Spanish and Portuguese terms sound like ancient, (too) elegant or unusual Italian words. I guess the opposite is true for Spanish and Portuguese speakers.

Actually we don't have the same root: the Portuguese language was created in the 1050s by monks that had migrated from Occitania (Southern France) to Portugal. It was they who created the Portuguese language as we know it today, and they used their native Occitan to create it. So Portuguese is actually a daughter language of Occitan, while Spanish evolved from the Latin spoken in Hispania. It's the reason why the Portuguese have "-ão" or "-nh" in their language, or say "Pai" and "Mãe" instead of "Padre" and "Madre" (and Catalonian derived from Occitan, too. And at Val de Arán in Catalonia they do speak Occitan).

Pedro Duarte they are created by the same root. Vulgar Latin that’s why there are called Romance languages. But then they started to change as different dialects and eventually into different languages. You should use google to clear that all up for you? Take a look at a language tree picture and you will see these language are on different branches of the same root.

You do know that these languages are somewhat intelligible due to the fact they're all Romance/Latin based languages. Russian is a Slavic language while English/German are Germanic languages and so on. These languages might have had some influence from the Romans, but not nearly enough for it to work out the way you're thinking. Plus the Portuguese/Spanish used in this video are both easier versions of the original languages spoken in Portugal and Spain. There is a reason why foreigners say European Portuguese sounds Slavic/Russian unlike the one from Brazil.

I think people have the most trouble understanding Portuguese pronunciation as it has some quirks and lots of nasalization. Brazilian Portuguese might be easier to understand since there is perhaps less vowel reduction than in European Portuguese, although it also has some peculiarities like “t” and “d” becoming affricates when preceding “i”, which is the case for most PT-BR speakers.

For the first time listening Spanish in order to understand what someone was talking, she was able to understand almost everything! So yes, I'm pretty sure every Brazilian is able to understand Spanish.

The verb "mantecare" in italiano is used when you put butter (or cheese sometimes) on top of risotto when it's done cooking. Its melting makes a cream that boost the flavour of the dish, while helping to enforce the connection between the rice grains and the sauce. It's splendid that most of the words mentioned have always a place in the other languages, even if the meaning is different
