I did the same when my father was dying in the hospital. He would get so agitated and I would put nonna Gina on and he would calm down. You’ve touched so many lives Nonna! Thank you and God bless you.

This is so different than the Russian/Polish/Slavic recipes I know but she is wonderful to watch and she really reminds me of my dear Grandma too who has been gone for decades and my mom's recipes. I love that deep pan.

When she sings I get nostalgic about a time I have never lived myself, how I envy the old times when times were simpler, slower, without technology, where people were happy just to cook and sing together.

Are people happy to cook? I find it to be a mandatory, three time a day job. All the chopping, prepping, cooking, serving, storing, washing dishes & putting away dishes is a "torturous" job. Yes, I'm definitely not a happy camper. I do it because a I have to, not choose to. 😒 I takes soooo much time to do & such little time to eat.

@@bextar6365 I wish. 🌠 I am a 24 hr a day, 365 days a year sole caregiver to my 82 yr old, bed-bound, Alzheimer's, Italian Mother. I have to prepare 3 healthy meals a day for her, along w/ all the other chores of the day. I'm always tired. I have no help. So to think somebody could be happy cooking to me is laughable in my particular situation. 😅 I would LOVE to go out & eat. I would LOVE to go out & do "anything". Only people in my situation could understand. Watching this lady, reminds me of my mother cooking when she was young & healthy. She loved cooking. She loved it so much she opened a catering buisness. I can cook good, I just don't enjoy it.

To all the high schools that discontinued cooking class due to no funding....find an empty class room and put in big screen and let grandma do the rest. we will learn much more than cooking from this sweet grandma.....

I LOVED the "Much More than Cooking"... She Radiates Joy Comfort Compassion SINGING while you cook... Find Something that you Love to do and Do it well... She would be the Perfect Teacher... I Loved Home Ec in Jr. High... only 1 class but STILL Remember Cooking Carrots almost 50 yrs later!

My son’s high school had home ec and it was required! He graduated in 2013. I wish all schools had it. He learned a lot about balancing a home budget, cooking, and sewing. I still have his pillow he made ❤️

Isn't that sad there's no time for family cooking. But back then only one person worked and they lived humbly. Not like today kids wants more and more, people want more and more. It's a choice I guess

My little Polish grandma & my Kansas farm grandma have been the makers of my best memories. Always in the kitchen using our hands, wooden spoons and cast iron. Watching these videos is like a time machine going back decades when we "made such fun then eat it up". You are a treasure I just spent the entire day. While I love her and her cooking, I'm 100% Polish, and all she did was Itailion up a traditional Polish dish with cheese and gravy! But, I still love you and will follow/cook you recipes. As long as they're authentic Italian! Cabbage rolls are 100% Polish!

She reminds me of my Bucca. My grandmother second husband's he was from Italy everybody called him and his brother chick and a little chick. He was really a tonso. My grandmother married him when I was about 1 so I really loved him and I spent a lot of time with him he was makes this I wonder if she has a polenta recipe. I never did learn to make that he passed away on his 90th birthday in his sleep I miss him God bless everyone

I made this for dinner yesterday! My son loved it and that means everything to me. I do love to cook and when I ran into the video, not only did I want to make it but I wanted to keep watching because you are just so great. While making the recipe, I did panic a bit because I wanted it to be just right for my family, but during the moments of panic, you started to sing! It was perfect timing ever time! I don't think I have ever used as many pots and pans and bowls for any other recipe ever in my life . 😀 You make it look so easy!!! I found that quickly washing up the dishes as you go is SO helpful! Good luck in your cooking journey. It gets so much easier when you get used to being efficient and organize your kitchen so everything is handy.

Hi my beautiful Grandma Gina I just brought your book. Again thank you from Australia. I have made so many of your recipes. My favourite was your Easter bread it was perfect. My family loved them I made 10 because I’m Greek Orthodox and you recipe was the best I have ever made. The only thing I add was a Greek spice .Thank you my lovely grandma. 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘

Gina, you remind me so much of my Nonna Luigia from the Veneto. Sadly she passed away when I was just 13, (over 50 years ago) but I have so many wonderful memories of her - mostly in her her garden where she and my Nonno grew all of their own produce, and of course of the delicious meals she prepared for us and served at her giant dining room table. The way you speak reminds me so much of her, too. Sometimes we didn't use the same language but we always understood each other. She did not sing as you do - which I love so much - but she loved to hear our other family members sing Italian songs around the table. Whenever I watch your videos I smile at your warm greeting and enjoy listening to your stories. I always learn from you - I also love to cook and you have much knowledge and experience to share. I am hoping someday to be able to do make all of wonderful traditional meals you make. I wish you good health, a long life and always a song in your heart. Big warm hugs from Bianca :)

I love listening to her speak and sing in addition to the wonderful recipes! I now speak “Italian grandmother” when I cook her recipes! Thank you, Grandmother Gina!

This is my favorite lady in the world. I'd give almost anything to just sit and listen to her stories about food and cooking and eating with family

Absolutely Amazing Your version , dear Gina , reminds me of my mother's "Summer Stuffed Cabbage " For Christmas , we prepare them without "Salsa ".In both cases , we do not use garlic at all over here and it has never occured to me to top them with cheese ! Although I Am a great fan of CHEESE THANK YOU GINA

Well this is definitely a spin on how I normally make this dish. Celery is different, adding mozzarella and egg is different. I can't believe she makes her own sauce from roma tomatoes - that is super cool !!! I will be trying this version soon. I just told my husband that she is my go to from now on ! I love how you printed the recipe for us to follow. Best of all is the singing!! I do not need to know the language to love it, but I wish I did know the language. I also love the stories.

I made the stuffed cabbage tonight! It was absolutely wonderful! I had my laptop sitting on top of my counter and followed every detail. Every pan in my cabinet was dirty, but man, it was worth it!

You are right... All gone... But we have a good memories 😢 I'll try to make your way this time, because I do this cabbage stuffed in different way... No cheese, rice I don't cook....
