'It was great!' What out-of-towners are saying about Detroit after the NFL Draft

Sunday marked the first day after the record-setting NFL Draft wrapped up in Downtown Detroit, so it's only fitting that I find out what folks thought about the event and the City of Detroit. First up, it's Jesse Byrd and Sarah Steel from California. Sarah is actually originally from Livonia.

It won't stay that way. The freeways were trash free and I've never seen that in all my years in Detroit.

@freedomthefreeman487 You know I'm not lying. There's never been as strong an effort to clean up the freeways. 96 and 94 was spotless. I didn't even see any abandoned cars on the freeway. I hope they keep it up now that the draft has left town. People need to stop throwing trash out of their cars windows too.

Detroit did a solid job! Next time the NFL needs to add more bathrooms and reduce the amount of boring wait time between picks just standing there.

Most of the crime is in the hoods in the inner city you are correct. The inner city is not bad. Hoods and poor areas in any city normally have more crime.

Just because Detroit has a vibrant Downtown and had a successful draft doesn't mean other problems don't persist. The city has come a long way since the bankruptcy but it still has a ways to go. Right now it's a great place to visit. I'm not talking about the surrounding suburbs. Just Detroit proper is not a very desirable place to live unless you can afford a home in Palmer Woods, Sherwwood Forests, East English Village, Indian Village or Rosedale Park. The majority of the neighborhoods are I'm disrepair. The city has a housing crisis.
