It Took Me 15 Seconds To Realize How Good He Was At Chess

Ойындар

I visited @CoffeeChess and played against one of their strongest players. As always these games are just for fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously - had a great time at coffee chess and can't wait to be back!! :D

I noticed early in the game that “Tiger” was underutilizing his rooks and bishops, then suddenly he just went all in. I think that was the pounce. Fun game, brutal banter.

Regarding Anna, she looked adorable when she tried to sound mad at 9:33 after the "I think she lost the friend thing". Nevertheless, she smiled when she realized that the game had ended.

I haven't played chess since I won a local tournament in middle school 40 years ago, but I can't believe that nobody has commented on how she gave up her Queen at 3:55, when she could have easily blocked the check with her bishop. It would have resulted in a retreat or a Queen for Queen swap (not likely). I'm I missing something, or should I consider this young lady "not that great of a chess player"?

@@plebjames I played Collegiate basketball. I love playing chess, though I've never been great at it. Trash talk is just part of competition. You use it to throw the other person off their game, it's not personal. It's equally critical to learn to NOT be thrown off by your opponent. Ever heard the saying "Offense wins games, Defense wins Championships"? A person can't claim to be "mentally tough" if they've never trained their own mental Defense as well as their Offense. (BTW, I'm not attacking you in any way. I tend to come across as too "direct" at times. I have no issue whatsoever with you sharing your opinion).

I didn't know that people talked so much during a match. Of course we have to give this excellent young lady credit for being a gracious loser. But I also think she realized that she was in a cage with a Tiger and started talking a lot to distract him. 🐯🐅. Unfortunately, I did not see many comments about how well the young man played. He was in complete control of the match from the first sounding of the bell. Hats off to you young man. I hope to see more of your matches in the future.
