At best a timber cutter puts their selves in a very difficult position. Many people that have their timber cut are disappointed with the results. They think that the property will look like a park when the work is done. I have been through this myself, and decided not to have the timber cut on one piece of property, I then acquired a second property and cleaned it up myself, But I had to buy an expensive grinder, and spent several years in my spear time getting the job done. It is dangerous to say the least, mainly because of the environment and insects, and the insects are not a small part, in your part of the country there are snakes that are also dangerous My thoughts go out to you and your family for being good people and hard workers, above all else stay safe Zach and keep going forwards.

How you go back to clean up the land, even though you don't charge for it per say, shows you are living your faith. Even through this technical difficulties you are doing it. I pray for this difficulty to end soon. God bless keep safe

If those trees fell in a storm, they would do damage as well. They don't live forever, and when they come down, they do damage. It looks like those rotten red oaks got skinned the last time the land was logged.

It is possible. Although in this area, carpenter ants are really bad about causing rot. And the red Oaks seem to get hit the worse. So I can’t say for sure on that. But you are correct, trees do fall when storms happen. This track of timber actually has several trees that have blown down already, and we cleaned them up as we went. It's a shame the land owner doesn't understand what it takes to clear standing lumber, it's one reason I don't do it anymore and thank God I own enough timber land that I don't have to do so, in your case if the land owner hires someone else to finish the job it's not right or fair, hopefully you'll be back on it before winter, one other thing your work is a lot more neath than a lot of mechanized loggers I have seen. Thank you for sharing.

I can’t honestly say exactly why they chose to stop us. I believe they were satisfied with what we have done or at least that’s what they said. I think they just want to see how it is going to grow back out throughout the summer and the fall. But I honestly don’t know. Hey buddy, I've been studying bar oil,to the point that it is ridiculous 😊. Bar oil prices are absolutely ridiculous! Named brand, anywhere from 25 to 30 dollars a gallon. No chainsaw company makes oil. Almost all bar oil comes from the manufacturer of other oils, mostly engine oil and gear oil, sometimes when those oils didn't meet spec,but mostly when they cleaned out pipes and equipment switching to another run, they call that slop. They blend it to a certain viscosity, usually around 30 weight for year round oil,and about 20 for winter, and add tackifiers. Project farm did a great test, temperature of bar, wear of chain drives, evaporation,and then sent samples off to be analyzed, the winner was farm king sold by rural king. Stihl came in almost last. We Don't have rural kings in my area, so I started buying oil from different places and believe it or not Walmart sells something called hyper tough, which is the same oil as their former house brand, black max. It's the exact oil I believe as echo and poulan pro, the newer jugs are also identical, all have red tint, smell like gear oil,very good tackifiers, not excessively thick but great tackifiers. Only $13.99 at Walmart,in otherwords, you save enough off 2 gallons to buy a new chain! These companies have been gouging us for years and are getting greedier by the day.

@@woodsgremlin9995 lol,I was close with name. We don't have rural king stores in SC. I bought some county or country line from tractor supply, not near as tacky as hyper tough,probably just fine in winter though.

If what you explained,etc.was what caused the diffugalty,he had nothing to gripe about (in my opinion). He should be glad it wasn't done with machinery, it would have been a mess! Good job.

The top piles will make for excellent rabbit hunting if the owner is a hunter. If you could fast forward 3 years the land will look quite different. Do you have a site from the past that you could walk through to show the changes?

Thank you kindly! And yes, you are at. There is no way to avoid it. We have cleaned up several jobs for people, but like I said in the video, it is separate from the logging.
