We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and the buiness/work related side of our life can be found on our secondary channel "Josh and Erin- The After Show". Here you will see us renovating our Cafe, opening/operating the Cafe with goods from our farm, building/furnishing/running our short term rentals, finding/operating our other real estate investments and more.

Folks, I really wish you would cover your floors in something waterproof and nonskid. We always just used plastic. OSB was never meant to get wet. I will say, I've been disabled since before 2009. So I don't know if they have changed the glue used to make it. Take a piece of it and put it in a 5 gallon bucket of water for 24 hours and see if that makes anything happen. I had an addition put on and to prove to the builder that it would fall apart I did just that. And yes it literally fell apart. That was in 2005. You will probably have to sand the joints. Good luck and be safe.

@@lucio6350our boys do live with us. They are older than our daughter and involved in a lot of activities, have a far heavier school work load and prefer to not always be shown on camera. They help a ton here but we respect their privacy and their choice of if/when to be on camera. Were you forced to grow up on camera in front of hundreds of thousand of people while spending your child hood being forced to do manual labor day in and day out to build your own house??

Oh, how a tiny little Ellie is almost no more. I couldn’t believe my eyes, when I watched her hiking, how long her legs had grown. She is so smart at figuring things out and entertaining herself, but the most admirable part of her character is that she always wants to help her mom or dad and never wines about how hard the work is. You don’t find that kind of character from kids raised in a city.

Erin and Josh, you are moving along very well on this build. Your chemistry and interactions show that while it is hard work you two have fun working together on the shared goal. It was nice seeing the small white tail out on the lawn watching the activity. Have a great week and be safe. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

As a person with some rigging and crane operation experience, I was quite concerned with your beam lifting method on your last video. If you must use the forks on the skid steer to lift them, at least use two slings. Also stay away from any suspended load - always use a rope (tag line) to control swing and placement.

There are exceptions to that fence rule. I was looking after a friends farm years ago. I came home and saw the bull pacing by the fence. I though how did he get out? He was in the lower paddock. So I got some some treats from the bakery. (end of day leftovers) and tried to entice him back down. He sniffed but didn't care. There were 7 ladies on the other side of the fence. And then all of a sudden he leaps over in one fell swoop. I was just a bit shocked but nothing I could do. :-) The neighbours said not to worry about it. He can stay until my friends return.

When hubby and I were in San Antorio, Texas I found red cowboy boots for my little granddaughter Elena. She was about four years old. She loved them so much that finally my son had to take them from her because she outgrew them, but she was still trying to get them on. So, I'm on a mission to get her another pair. She just turned seven. Ellie reminds me a lot of my miss Elena. stay safe and healthy.

Third time watching… just noted Erin’s safety shoes as her toes are under the beam lol 😂 I’m no better! Just noted and had to laugh. You guys are awesome!!! I love watching your progress… so many accomplishments! Somehow you still have time to laugh and have fun! Well done 👍🏼

Every time you handle those steel beams, can you feel my nervousness emanating from Utah all the way to West Virginia?

Watching as you do this new construction reminds me of the first time I saw your channel. You had just finished the floor and you were raising the first A-frame for your house. Watching you build the house and make the cutouts for the kitchen and so on was so enjoyable and entertaining. I can not tell you how much I love sharing your adventures. Thanks and God bless your family. 😊
