It's time to sell the things we don't need

We are selling some things around the homestead that we don't need. So we can buy a few things we do need to help us start our a small livestock farm.

I'm re-watching your old videos and came to this one and had to smile. Early on you're describing the Case tractor and brush-hog and saying "You don't need two tractors, so we'll sell the Case", that from a man who now uses four(!) tractors. Just made me laugh.🤩🤩🤩

Tractors are like guitars and classic motorcycles. You can never have enough! Really a guy should have at least three tractors and one should have a front end loader.

Your making good decisions about equipment. It is tempting to buy new expensive equipment. One of the things I do to fight the temptations is to take the cost of the equipment I want to buy and divide it by the cost of a unit of livestock to add to the farm. So often the equipment will not have a payback in its lifetime. Hay equipment is one of the best examples. You can buy good hay cheaper than putting it up yourself when you take the cost of the equipment, fuel and up keep in consideration. Plus you bring on to your farm the nutrients from the seller’s land nitrogen, phosphorus, and potash. You can also stock pile grass for winters grazing by not cutting hay.

take heart ,a day at a time. you'll get there. no worries, it took me ten years of hump work too get my place set up where it made me any money. then fifteen more of living the life. it pays too have two tractors, as you will always have one broke down, at some point. a front end loader bucket would be best if you can find a back hoe, that would work best. as you never know when you'll need one. you can find the item's needed at a cheaper price. pasture land will make you about 6.00 an acres, if you can get two cuttings ,well you get the point. it is the storage that costs mostly. with stock, figure ten bales a month, plus vet fees.'I found that farming makes the best life, cost wise. you can sell what you can ,live off what is left. but your going too need at least two hands, on a daily work table. more the bigger the land usage. they cost the most, unless you have family involved. think a heard of goats, pigs, chickens, cows, even a few horses. you never know when you get stuck ,and there will be times that you do, that they will be the only way out. then there are the shop tools, and other tools that you'll need to have available. but they're another issue. think barn sales, and auctions. always have a few grand on hand, as most are cash only. but you can find great deals, if you have it on hand.well best of luck.

Livestock...on 41 acres? Gonna be a big challenge! If cattle you'll need half that acreage for grazing and the other half for hay. Maybe up to 10 head max unless you're thinking goats or sheep. Several people have replied about keeping the Case. I agree. You wont get much for it even with the mower. As others have mentioned...if your Allis goes tango uniform what then? Keep both tractors until you purchase your 4 wheel drive...then sell the Case. I understand that as a family you want to be up and running as soon as possible. It will happen but look forward to ongoing...not a year or two. Finally, best keep a close eye on the little black dog when it's out. Hawks and owls like morsels that size as well as coyotes.

As I watched your video I cannoyyyt get over how green the grass was because we haven’t seen any of that in the Midwest for so long. I like the looks of your truck but it is shocking that it cost you $10,000 for a truck with 150,000 miles on it. My son has been looking for a truck for a long time and he finally Got frustrated and bought a truck that needed brakes and some other parts thinking he could fix it himself and it’s been two months and that truck still isn’t running because we’ve had such extreme heat and he works 60 to 70 hours a week and no Time on the weekends since he works six or seven days a week to work on it!❣️❣️❣️ and now my vehicle is down that he borrowed to the tune of $1500 repair bill… Very very frustrated with the money gouging it is going on with automobiles and groceries and everything else for that matter. I was hoping you were going to have a little auction or something on the things you were getting rid of… So disappointing but good luck on everything you’re selling because everybody is trying to make money off of the things they can sal

How big is you garden going to be. You might consider black heavy plastic it will compost and you can reuse it. The other thing is start with a quick yard of top soil and add to it depending how much kitchen scraps. Try just the kitchen scraps first turn it once a week or so . Soon your going to see lots of worms then you can stat mixing in more top soil pretty soon this will start continuously supplying black gold you start tilling into your garden the results will be ridiculous.

be a mistake to get rid of one and not have a tractor to backup your allis especially since its paid for when your allis went out how long were you out of a tractor and now you want to do hay
