    Great episode Cam! I for one could watch panel beating all day - I grew up around collision repair shops. Remember, dying in pursuit of a good paint job is not good, ha-ha. Lots of content here Cam and I'm glad you're sharing it with us. Buy some merch people before the store closes! Thanks Cam. Keep going!

    Noted! I think there will be enough interesting items on this one without the pain of Violet Crumbles.

    Looking forwards to the body work. The Toyota's of the 70's are just rusty by nature. Its the right of passage, so let it rip, its what we expect!!

    The process usually is strip to bare metal, epoxy straight away, do metal repairs or filler work, sand, high fill, sand again, then paint.

  • @TheBuildRoom

    Well that sounds good as that's pretty much what I'll be doing with an etch primer touch up before filler so fingers crossed it'll come out nice.

    You could always buy a mobile blow up booth. They have airfilters.

    Thought about that one but they won't fit in my low ceiling garage and no room outside for one - was a good idea though.

    Cam thought you would have used 2k epoxy primer ?

    Was wondering that at first too but did say that the etch primer is actually a 2part Epoxy.

    Yep - Concept Paint 2K Etch Primer as @_Mav has noted below. I know a lot use just straight 2K epoxy but I had this in the cupboard already aging out.

    Hey mate recently came across your vids and loving it! Also thinking of getting a Celica ta22 or similar. Anything in particular to look out for these before buying? Also more updates on violet crumbles would be great!

    Hey - great you're thinking of jumping into a 1st gen. Major thing is rust - standard spots are drip rails, bottoms of front and rear windscreen, top and bottom of doors, bottom of front fenders, front of bonnet, bottom of rear quarters, a pillar where the door hinges bolt on, spare wheel well and both of the sills. Basically anywhere there's metal. Also look for any damage to the chassis rails from accidents and look for a relatively decent interior as parts are hard to find now and quite expensive. Engines are hard to kill so usually that's just a maintenance and tuning bit. As for Violet Crumbles there's big news in the next episode that will be out in a week or two so keep an eye out.

    @@TheBuildRoom Cheers mate you earned my sub! I will definitely look out for rust. Also would an engine swap be viable - have you ever thought about it? Nothing huge just a 2L turbo or something similar

  • @TheBuildRoom

    @TheBuildRoom

    @@Gunnerlol93Lots of engine swap options, of varying degrees of difficulty. Getting a TA23, RA23 or RA28 (Aus versions - US versions are RA24 and RA29) you will have an easier time on swaps as the engine bay is longer. Common options would be 18RG, BEAMS 3SGE, 3S-GTE, SR20DET, 1UZFE, 3RZ - all depends on what you want to get out of it and how much you want to spend. The old ToyMods forum is a good resource, and I will be doing some swaps to mine in the future, but haven't decided on platform yet.

    Not wrong about the cost of labour in Australia. Materials aren't that cheap also. I'm so jealous watching Americans paying bugger all for stuff on KZread.
