what season 2 is setting up is so much better than everything in season 1

As far as the ONI soldiers getting the drop on silver team, I figure you could explain it off as they have countermeasures vs standard UNSC tech. They could as well have tech that blocks it. It also finally makes sense as to what the Sorin plot line is leading to. Sure he hates Halsey but I think his role is to be the one that helps her get off of Reach after she probably goes to get Cortana back. He also might be the one who gets Cortana to Chief, that's my guess.

I was pleasantly surprised how they handled ONI treachery. Keeping the covenant presence on reach a secret from the public and most of the UNSC until the fleet of particular justice shows up is 100% lore accurate. Ackerson’s character development stole the show this episode though. That twist about his sister being a spartan washout and the clone was well done imo. At least it’s nice that shit is hitting the fan now and we can focus on the actual fall of reach, hopefully. The Kwan/rubble side story just isn’t interesting at all.

To be fair a psych eval is the least of chief’s concerns considering how he’s acted in the show

I'll still watch it even if it sucks as im not paying extra to watch it. But yeah, ONI made the Spartans. I'm sure they have contingencies to counter Spartans, so they must have some sort of radar jammer or training to capture the Spartans. Also funny, how 500 years in the future, and there are no helmet cameras to prove master chief wasn't crazy. Kwan was raised to fight as she was born into the insurectionists. One thing that made me cringe was the albino Blind Gay Spartan scene when riz went to catch up with him. I thought they had some sort of romance but then was surprised with that twist.

I've seen quite a few people say that, I personally enjoyed Ep 1 a little more, but this was still so much better than everything we got in Season 1. Pretty keen for the next ep :)

Best episode in the entire series thus far I would argue. I know the production team in this series can do action and do action well but I always felt they were poor in the character development aspect with some really questionable character actions (MASTER CHEEKSSS!) but now I am reassured that this new showrunner can do character arcs GOOD!

IMO the best episode since Contact.

So far I think Season 2 is doing the business of fixing S1’s mistakes. You’re not going to be able to change some peoples minds; they’re just too committed to hating whatever the show does.

This was the first episode that was really well written and directed imo. For the first time in this series I cannot wait til next week. Ackerson is great, when Silver team is together it feels good, and the spin on Kwan/Soren is heading in a better direction (it is a bit cheap tho, yeah). All that's left is to see some Spartan v Covenant action. My favorite line was when Kwan said, "I'm not supposed to be here.." Damn right. There may be hope for this show yet.

I like your neutral take on this. Lots of Halo KZreadrs are just throwing hate with extreme reactions because they want views. Those people seem disingenuous.

It feels like each episode has a really interesting cliffhanger but then immediately fails to follow up with it in the next episode. How are there no covenant in this episode?

Hello FootedGhost, So far, these first three episodes of Season 2 have been far more entertaining than the whole of Season 1. In a lot of ways, this Second Season feels like the first season of a brand-new show. Hopefully, they semi reboot the show like this every two or three years to give the show a fresh new start. While I don't know the lore or the Halo games or books, I still love the first season & enjoy it for what it is. I own the first season on Blu-Ray. However, the Elite monsters, looked cool, but too CGIed & the Covenant felt like a generic religious cult that just wanted to wipe out everything. The only thing in Season 1 that made the Covenant feel like a genuine threat was the girl leading the Elite Warriors & the battle sequences looked as if they were ripped right from the Halo game. But I will say this about Season 1 of Halo. It was a much more mature version of "Starship Troopers." Anyhow, the first three episodes of Season 2 have a gritter, darker feel to them & the battle sequences look more realistic as if a real battle is being fought. The CGI has improved a great deal & the Elite monsters look a lot more terrifying. This time, the Covenant feels more like a genuine threat & the season as a whole feel more like a War film, which it should be. I've loved Joseph Morgan ever since his days as Klaus on "Vampire Diaries" & "Originals" & is a scene stealer as Ackerson & is a perfect villain. However, I love how he is more complex & you learn his motivations little by little with every passing episode. There's more to him than meets the eye & I can't wait to see where his story goes. Also love the character development with Master Chief & the Spartans as they deal with their pain & trauma. I know how everyone hates Kwan, but here, I found her story to be more compelling here because she is on her own & forced to fend for herself here. Also found the Soren plot interesting & wonder where that will go. Anyhow, hope the show continues to improve & we get a more seasons.

I was so nervous about this season that I haven't watched it yet. But Im hearing they really listened to the fans. How many of these problems did they fix this season. 1. I'm happy that johns love interest is dead so we'll never have deal with the Makee girl in the second season. 2. How did they get rid of the stupid Mcguffin that, when touched, seems to solve whatever problem the writers wrote themselves into? 3. How did they write Kwan out of the show? She was the most hated character by the fanbase so im sure they had to find away to kill her so we never see her again. 4 The dumb emotion pellets. Hopefully they just dropped those stupid things everyone hated. 5. Cartoonishly evil and incompetent military. They had Keys killing children without a second thought. How did they retcon that. 6. Have they finally introduced Sgt. Johnson? 7. John being a chosen one, that was the most unhalo part of the show. I'm assuming since they got rid of the stupid mcguffin artifact that only chosen ones can touch. So if they got rid of that then they no longer have to use the most antihalo part of being a chosen one. 8. How did they get rid of the stupid mysticism, magic, and witches? These were the main problems that people had with the show and what made it nothing like Halo at all. But everyones saying they fixed it. How did they retcon all these things out of the show to make it like real Halo?

I also do agree about the Spartans, an off screen death was pretty lack luster for an entire Spartan 2 team. It felt cheap.

Note how the series almost skipped over the Real reason Halsey made the Spartans, NOT to fight the Cov but to fight Humans, The Innies. In that light, the jumping around storylines of Season 1 make more sense. Fall of Reach has to address this tho.

It's better that Kwan is an instant ninja instead of wasting multiple episodes showing her training for that. More screen time for Reach.

Considering they didn't need her in this season at all and the whole space pirate story line is mediocre at best, it isn't much of a win.

Just because the show is nothing like the Bungie inspired universe doesn't mean it's bad. If you didn't like the first season and hope they would have changed the plot and characters to be more like the real Halo universe, then I got bad news for you. Some of us loved the first season and all the changes they made to make a better Halo show. I was so worried they were gonna listen to the so called "fans" and retcon the show to please them. Thankfully they didn't get rid of a single plot or character the Halo fans were moaning about. In fact they did the opposite, they brought back John's love interest. It was hilarious watching them bitch and moan about that character. I think she's one of my favorite characters in the show. And to see how happy they were when she died. It was so awesome watching them freak out because they brought her back in the second season. Basically if you loved the first season like I did but were worried they might change something to appease the fans, don't. They literally did not change a single plot point or character, not a single one. In fact they brought back my favorite character the Makee, and the show is so much better now because of it.

Why would they risk Master Chief roaming around without his suit?! He shouldn't be more than a few feet away from his suit!

The show runners are dead set on NOT giving fans what they want. All that build up in the beginning with Silver going after Cobalt was great and then just ends with a 5'0" Karen yelling at Chief? NOTHING HAPPENS. All the good dialogue and drama is wasted on supporting characters. I like Keyes and Ackerson too, but wouldn't it be nice if some of that drama and dialog was given to, oh I don't know, the Spartans? And some screen time while we're at it? Kwan is def leading in total screen time. I agree, Ninja Kwan makes no sense. She's the superior Kwan to be sure, but she shouldn't be in the show. I can't describe how much I don't care about Kwan + the Rubble storyline. And 3 episodes of build up about Makee being alive with Chief getting shook by it? Ugh. I can't... This is a masterclass in wasting the viewer's time. Nothing really happens in the show. So much time is wasted on non-plot-related nonsense. I am fine with character building, world building, etc, but Halo is already rich with interesting worlds and even more interesting characters, but we get none of that. Instead we get modern-day messages, made up characters and forced emphasis on them to make us care about them. We waited 23 years for this crap. Unreal.

Spartans don't appear to have motion sensors this season, its a little odd.

The Rubbles plotline was indeed unnecessary thanks to the damage of previous Season I guess. I gave up halfway on Season 1 with how Kwan from somewhat ok to irrelevant real quick in few episodes. It seems like whoever in charge of writing really wanted wrap them up (definitely too rushed with how she just killed the whole 4 mutineers out of nowhere lol). As much as I liked where this is going, I kinda hate sometimes alot of stuff happening off-screen, especially with how tf Cobalt just di- ahem.. went MIA. Either way, Season 2 feels like it's just keeps on hyping up throughout the episodes.. Can't wait for 4th episode already.

Hopefully Joe and crew now see Ackerman as he really is. Not holdo

I have two complaints of this episode. One is the lack of action..at least show us how Cobalt went down! And the other is chief's tamper issues, bro's mad like 90% of his screen time making him really unlikable. Other than that, the overall vibe of inevitable doom in this episode is fantastic.

I genuinely don't know what to think about this season so far , it's like someone decided to read a Halo encyclialpidia by fliping randomly through the pages. BTW be sure to check out my flyable pelican prefab along with the rest of my prefabs in my files.

This is what happens when they don't stick to the source material. Is 343 not involved at all in the making of this show? Better does not equal good. Even if the future episodes are actually good (BIG if), it is still attached to the trash that season 1 is. The nostalgia of "The Fall of Reach" is the only thing bringing hype to this show, even when the show itself is absolute garbage.

But but... Ackerson shows his face, nooooooo 😂. Sorry Had to say it.

Season 2 is great

I honestly feel the same. Was not impressed.

This whole episode was just a complete waste of time. I can't think of a single interesting or memorable thing that happened in it; like i say, such a waste.

Spoiler alert! It's clear that every episode has a different writer and they must not communicate with each other. I don't get the people who like this show. Not only is it a disgrace to halo but the writing just as a show is so bad. Besides examples of naming cities after the planets like Madrigal city and REACH city ( because it's not like we don't already have a list of cities to use from the books and games like New Alexandria ) but they waste your time with Halsey trying to figure out what the clone is for and who is behind it. The clone is Julia, who was in the spartan program and is sister to Ackerson. Halsey knows everyone who was in the spartan program cause she was like their mother. Also doesn't make sense how Ackerson knew she was in the spartan program when they are all suppose to be kidnapped and given a clone. So Ackerson knew his sister was in it i guess. Problem is Dr. Halsey should have known everything the second that clone walked in on episode 2. They wasted the viewers time with mystery and then next episode there is no mystery. Also we knew the covenant were on REACH last episode so this is no cliff hanger. Its just doing the same thing they did at the end of last episode. And ofcorse they didn't show Cobalt team. I fucking knew they didn't have the budget to show anything from Cobalts POV. hopefully they show it in the future somehow with a weird flashback. I don't know I try to forget my Halo knowledge watching this show but they continue to stampede on my intelligence.

The show is still terrible.

All the stuff with Ackerson was fantastic. He's definitely stealing the show. I just hate anything that has to do with the Rubble.

This show still sucks

I hate all the useless nonstop exposition and obvious missed opportunities. And I thought we would see John rescue Cobalt. I hate this show. I guarantee the next battle will last 2 minutes then on to more subplots I don't care about and more talking and more talking.

This was by far the worst episode
