"It's Okay to be Mad Nick" (Emotional Intelligence Practice)
We had a surprise change in the routine, Sam is okay now. We also started talking about emotions and how its okay not to be happy all the time.

This is just a suggestion… I had a young lady ( on the spectrum) in my class who was very confused about emotions. I made large index cards and found what she was interested in at the time which was Disney princesses. I printed out different pictures showing different emotions and we would read them together every morning. (And anytime it was needed) It worked so well that I was able to incorporate different concepts like playing with friends, she is a good reader and anytime someone had trouble with a word we would ask her how to pronounce the word. I made cards that emphasized how good she was at certain things so that we could work on boosting her self confidence. There were so many things that the cards worked for like her schedule or more importantly a change in her schedule…. It just helped her to know what was going to happen the next day…similar to what you do with the calendar. I enjoyed working with her so much and found that once I figured out how to help her understand things it was so much better for us. She grew to love the cards bc it was something that she understood. I admire you and your family and extended family so much for the way you work as a team to help Nicky. God Bless!!

Hi Alex.
It's absolutely wonderful to see the team you have and what trust and love can accomplish.
All you allow him to say is he’s happy, so of course he is going to always say he is happy.

Yes, we say that too much. We're working correcting our communication so that he understands that feeling emotions other than happy is okay.

@@NickyTVFamilyVlog parenting isn’t easy, and stepping back isn’t easy, but I think having him home will give you a whole new perspective on what school caregivers contend with each and every day but they just don’t always convey every little thing with the parents because that is their job to care for, teach and find solutions that help their students. I always think having an outside person is extremely beneficial because they aren’t able to manipulate, know their boundaries, and get to have a very structured environment while having social interactions outside the family. Please don’t take this personally, but allowing the people specialized in working with your son without you always right there to overstimulate, over prompt and cue him, interrupt and being a distraction would really help him, and will also allow those trained to do what they do and your son to have a lot more success and learning opportunities. A person can’t work nearly as effectively with a parent always right there in their face, and triggering the student with too much talking, questions, making demands of them, etc. Just something I’ve learned along the way that may help dad help his son more. That’s a lot for neurotypical people to have to deal with, never mind those who already struggle in all those areas and are trying to focus. Try to put yourself in his shoes with someone always in your face talking at you and then in the trained persons shoes where they have to try to teach over all the overstimulation, talking at and distractions. It limits what Nicki can accomplish and learn and that’s not fair to him.
It looks like he feels like he wants scratchy back 😃❤️☀️ This is a very good way to work on differentiating between moods, I really like the words to read saying that it’s ok.
Rockstar Nicky awesome job and I’m glad you had a good day 😊

Stefan should be back in the mix this weekend.
Not a criticism, just an observation… seems like the first icons are “happy”. Dunno, does Nick pick the first one. He is SUCH a lucky man to have an amazing team. 💜💜💜💜

Great point. I think he understands the different emotions that are represented by the pictures. It's more about Nick being willing to accept that he is feeling something other than happy and that its okay with us.
I hope sam feels better
Have mercy….I love to hear when Nicky says that ❤
Why do u call it a hot tub when it’s cold
