“And it’s easily six months of work contained within this video” - it’s always good to understand context and set expectations accordingly, thanks for that Adrian. Great lesson.

Yes, I agree - that was very wise of Adrian to say that.

yes... beginning with that comment helps... instead of expecting instant, or almost instant perfect results I know going in what I'm after will take time... lots of time. Thanks.

travis picking alone is 6months to 2 years to sounds super comfortable
Thanks man. Very helpfull to learn to play guitar. Take care and god bless.
Solid playing and solid instruction with neither pretension nor needless self display.
Thank you! Hope you and yours are safe and well over there, Little Brother.
Thank you for the wonderful lessons and for sharing them with all of us who aspire to play Fingerstyle guitar.
Omg you saved me from selling my classical guitar! I am just a beginner and used an acoustic to learn the simple common songs. I just got myself a classical one to do more notes and melodies but I felt helpless. Now after watching this I have faith again and no way I’ll give away such a jewel of an instrument. Thank u so so much. U are a great teacher.
Thank you so much for demonstrating SLOWLY the sequence of finger picking! Other teachers go so fast and fingers are too close to strings you have no idea which string is being "struck". Thank you for patience and keeping it simple.
Adrian is the best. Not only does this lesson show the patterns, it show in real time playing chords and melody, rather than rote exercises with no real time playing. Check out his Robert Johnson video, nails it. Plus Adrian has the "Robert Johnson" long skinny fingers, the real deal. I'm a decent guitar player and Adrian has helped me so much, never stop learning and improving.
Cheers from Canada.... lots of patience needed 😢😢😢 as used a Pick for 40 years!!!
Great video! Not many people teach fingerstyle guitar, and not many people of these not many people teach it as amazingly as you just did!
I love the way you present your lessons, Adrian! Thanks so much. Very nicely done.
Great lesson! I love playing fingerstyle guitar, it unlocks such a full sound when playing alone. Nice Martin too!
Someone once said "Those you can, DO, those who can't, TEACH! But, Adrian, you are good at both. I have enjoyed and learned a lot from your teaching. Keep it up my young friend. Best wishes from a 74 years old ex teacher.
AWESOME video!!!!! Thank you so much! I have been searching for a while now for a video exactly like this but have been unsuccessful. Most beginner picking videos just show you one or two patterns. This video is really great because I can see how the more complex patterns are extensions of simpler ones. Lots to chew on here. :)
Can’t start practicing until I get back home. But rest assured your folk finger style pattern lesson will get the attention it deserves. Thank you Adrian.
Thank you for this tutorial, it was quite amazing , and so well illustrated. Top marks ☘️😎
Absolutely love how you cut to the chase, Adrian. Beautiful Martin too. Thank you!
Wow, this is opening up a whole new world of playing! I'm going to start my 6 month training today. Hopefully I'll be an expert when this damn pandemic is over. Thanks Adrian!!

You are a great teacher!!! I love the way you explain and demonstrate the lesson . Thank you so much!!!!!
Thank you, great lesson! Your channel always has the best music, so keen to hear your suggestions for songs for developing fingerpicking 🙏
My dude! You are absolutely hilarious! I love your dry sense of humour, in addition to how brilliant you are as a teacher. Very well produced, thank you for an excellent lesson and fun practice session.
This is a great introduction, and more. A tip for those who have started getting a hang of these patterns is to check out Billy Strings cover of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t think twice”. It’s incredibly hard - because it’s Billy Strings - but in his version there are at least four different patterns of fingerpicking. I have practiced four over a month now, maybe two, finally I am getting close to play it through. Here is my point. I put that project a side for a bit, and realized that I suddenly started to learn other songs way quicker. Hard work that payed off!

Awesome!!! I'm going to print out the charts so I can read them through, for some reason that helps me. But I know this is going to be an awesome lesson held within this one song tutorial! Amazing!!!
Recently found your channel and really appreciate your lessons and playing. Thank you.
This is absolutely fantastic, thank you very much Adrian. I'll have to go get my old trusty Yamaha out of the case now and learn it.
The best beginner fingerpicking lesson I have watched! Thank you!
Once again Adrian, an excellent lesson full of advice and information.
Just the lesson I need for breaking in my new guitar specially strung with Nashville Tuning.
Thank you,a lot to take in, will have to work on this one at a time 😎
Excellent lesson. Thanks so much. Best wishes.
Great lesson !! Thank you
Thank you very much for your very valuable effort in this lesson.
Great information, thanks, just starting fingerpicking !
My Dude....this is really good stuff...thanks for posting!
A great exercise that will improve your playing in remarkable ways is to hold a pick and do all the finger picking patterns. Years ago I learned all the folk stuff like Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Croce, Dylan, James Taylor, etc, and fairly recently I got into Tony Rice and his wild flatpicking stuff and to able to do his 5-3-4-1 patterns during strumming, I started playing all those folk songs, holding a pick. Of course, it's awkward as hell in the beginning but once you get it, it serves you really well.
Great lesson thanks 👍
Excellent video. Thank you.
I love it!!! Thank you a million times 💝☺️😊💝
You're so funny 😅 and always an absolute treat to watch and learn from 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Adrian, this is easily the best beginner finger pattern video I’ve watched. The only bad thing about it is a wished I’d seen it 3 years ago. Thank you
You do a good job! Thank you!!
Brilliant stuff, as always - Adrian is a National treasure...Tommy Emanuel recommends taping your fingers to the guitar until you get the thumb pattern down, but our fella is more gentle- see y’all in 6 months
Thanks. Something to do now for the next year or so.
Great lesson, Sire! 👍🔥 And, those beautiful slender fingers you've got man!! ❤️🎸
Older video, but I just found this and played along on my 000-15sm that is my couch guitar. Love these plus-sized parlors!

Great tips as usual! Any cool fingerstyle songs you'd recommend learning?
That is a beautiful Martin!
Great opening, great sense of humour.
I'm still working on mistery train... So this will help. Thank you
This is awesome, I’ll be back at the end of 2024 and let you know how I’m doing. Will be bookmarking this and coming back everyday.
Thank you
Thank you for fantastic lessons, I've followed your Mystery Trail lesson to learn some fingerpicking, but noticed that my thumb work got pretty sloppy and inconsistent - I skip a pluck or two occasionally. Does it mean that I am going too fast and now get to unlearn an acquired "bad habit"? Thank you again!
