    You are the Bob Ross of the geocaching world. It's hard for me to not feel jazzed up and in the mood for creating some caches when watching your videos. Pity I have two left hands.

    Sadly, I don't have very many more to show. My gadget caches now are "smart", meaning they have microprocessor's inside and not easily duplicated. I am going to do 1 Smart cache video, just to show the capabilities of a smart cache.

    I was under the impression that the Geocaching rules don't allow for digging holes, including a hole for putting up a post. Now on your own property, or with permission from the landowner/ park dept. that rule does not apply, but what is your backup plan for mounting a cache if the 4x4 post is not allowed?

  • @timeggleston1440

    @timeggleston1440

    4 жыл бұрын

    Geocaching HQ now allows 4x4 post to be installed but you have to have written permission from the landowner. Submit a copy of the permission with your cache. If the landowner will not allow a post, then I guess I would find another location to place my cache. The alternative, a chain around a tree is not a good one.

    Pine... with several coats of primer and paint. NEVER use plywood. Cedar is even better but more expensive.

    @@gadgetcaches What is the reasoning behind having a box within a box design to hold the lock n lock? I am currently building my first hide, which I intend to be regular cache disguised as a birdhouse. I want to eventually build up to gadget caches like this, but as this is my first time experimenting with power tools, I am just mastering the woodworking aspect for now. Is it ok if my birdhouse door is on a hinge with a PB Jar cache inside? I wish I had thought of putting the door on the bottom, but my first two birdhouses have the front door on hinges.

    @@sarahereachAbsolutely, that's a great way to start. I applaud you for using power tools for the first time. Start with where you feel comfortable and work up. Thanks for the effort to improve our game, I'm sure geocachers will love the effort you put into it. Congratulations... let us know how it goes.
