The exact same thing happened to me! I quit my job because everyone was telling me "when you jump, the universe jumps with you".... gave up my full time job and the universe did NOT jump with me haha! Went back to a regular job whilst building my business and I held so much shame around it for a while, but now I'm owning it. Hold the vision, trust the process.

Weirdly enough, I also quit my corporate job 2 years ago, BUT I didn't become successful in my primary business. Not every "quit my job" story is a fairy tale, unfortunately. I'm thinking of starting another business instead of my existing one. If I must, I'm going back part-time or freelancing, but never again on a corporate job. Too old to bear with that corporate... thing.

I am gonna be making a video where I talk about the whole quitting your job thing....I think it's important to not frame it as this thing that automatically triggers success in something else we put our energy and time on like our businesses...because it won't necessarily happen right away. I've learned that from experience. There are a lot of factors involved in growing a business and it takes time to see massive success.

  • @techlaland

@@passporttomanifest One can even say dropping out of college doesn't necessarily guarantee success either. Not everyone is going to end up being a Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg or Steve Jobs just because they dropped out. They dropped out because they were already building their businesses while in school and didn't have the time for studies anymore. It really does come down to the individuals mindset rather than were they're currently. Also risk is another thing to consider on how much you can stand to lose should things not go in the way you expected. If you quit will you have enough saved to survive in order to pursue other endeavors? Is the business being built just a temporary niche or something that fulfills a need for the long haul? What industry is the business in and how will you turn a profit quickly enough to see a return? How much money can you stand to lose before everything runs out and what then if that happens?

In my opinion. I guess quitting your job doesn't really means that you will be successful but instead. You are opening yourself to a new opportunity... An opportunity that might lead you to what u love doing.. Some people quit their job. Because they don't want it anymore. Because of the toxicity... They might end up jobless or earn less after quitting.. but sooner or later they will figure out what they love doing... And from there.. they have successfully escaped the things that they hate.... So the problem is the next step... But at least you have done the first step... And you Take Action... Because you'll never know what will be on the other side... Unless you try it!

I want to work in peace, something with a decent pay that i can make enough living, wrk with less stress. I wanted to work where i feel happy in my wrk environment and the kind of wrk that is simple. I can comment on this. I gave my notice to my boss (we've a good relationship) back in late October. I've got my own thing coming together with automations, and as of now my last day is two weeks away. I can tell you that at least for me there's been no regrets. Before I finally told him I spent so much time debating what if, should I, should I not, etc. Once I had the conversation, it became very clear (not because of anything he did or said, he was in fact extremely supportive and still is) that I made the right call. The mixed feelings come from excitement at what lies ahead and fear of the unknown, as Vanessa mentioned in this video. I'm excited to try something new, to work on projects I have a personal stake in, etc, but I'm also a bit terrified because I have done fairly well in corporate and it's been a safe place to be, whereas this startup will require me to master skills that I'm just simply not good at at the present moment. I've had to master skills in corporate as well, but no matter how long it takes you still get paid. You don't get paid as an entrepreneur until you have some degree of fluency in said skills xD

Never saw quitting as a weakness. It all comes down to personality types. If you know deep down that you're the type of person who gives their all, then quitting simply becomes recognition of the need to change the routines and having faith in your ability to somehow get there, by not wasting more time & energy. That clip of you breaking down was exactly me yesterday, after being frustrated & overwhelmed with myself for not understanding things & going in circles! I’m 15, so I’ve never had a physical job, but I don’t want to get stuck in that 9-5 loop. So I’m watching your channel as a teen, so I can work out my income ahead of time 👍most people start working at 16 here in Australia, so 15 honestly isn’t early to be thinking about jobs. I decided I’m going to use my passions (art and editing) that I already do daily, and make money out of them💓

Damn, I have had quite a few culture shocks from a lotta different cultures but working at 16 is a bit too hardcore.... Like, there are legit articles warning why working at that age ain't good for your health in the long run and stuff. What jobs do 16 yo olds do there, btw..?

Go for it. I had a paper route at 12 (yeah I am old) and was lifeguarding at 15, moved into camp counselor at 16 and swimming instructor at 17. Those jobs paid for my college, and the job I got out of college didn’t pay well but they had an education program where I was able to get a graduate degree at night. That led to another several jobs and additional certifications even after I started working a corporate job because gotta stay ahead of the competition and make my resume stand out. It’s great if you can hack it but it’s not for everyone, but the truth is the harder you work, the luckier you will be.

Vanessa, you said it well. “You have not done this before”, funny enough this verse has been taught in bible study for the last few weeks on Joshua 3:4. “...for you have NOT passed this way before.” New things, new skills are foreign in the beginning and I need to tell you I am grateful that you talked about this concept today. It encouraged me to give myself grace as I learn this new skill and as I build this new channel. One Vanessa to another ❤️

*Thanks for sharing your success story with us, Vanessa. I definitely agree that nothing big happens* s in the comfort zone. Simply, we need to get comfortable being uncomfortable. Many doors indeed open when you put yourself "out there". When you start building your online presence and start building and managing your own brand. Entrepreneurship is often full of failures. But, our failures are our stepping stones to success.
