It's back -The Mighty BMW R1150RT is back on the road!

It’s back - the Mighty BMW R1150RT has a fresh MOT, new tyres and is raring to get out making more videos.
An update on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 this week is….. it’s still in the dealers waiting for parts. It will be just 4 weeks today since the attempted theft and still not much further to getting it sorted. They did say though that there should be some news next week, so keep everything crossed for me.
I had a comment from last week’s video about why do we drive on the left. The comment was “what are the arrows in the middle of the road that point back to the left mean” They are telling you that it’s time to get back over to the left if you are overtaking as there is a hazard coming!
It got me thinking, when did white lines first start to be used? A bit of digging later and I had the answer.
So, sit back and lets have a look at what all that paint on the road means.
Ride safe, Dave

    Ahh the mighty R1150RT. Mine goes in for a minor repair and rego next month. Can't wait! PS the servo brake system still works and has recently been serviced. I put on Yacugar shocks front and rear and a set of Sargent heated seats. It's Titan Silver Metallic and I painted the top box and top halves of panniers that colour. Looks unreal IMO.

    This situation with MotoGB and Royal Enfield doesn't do the brand any good. I had issues with my Himmy getting replacement switchgear under warranty and this was long before RE announced they were taking full control. I am a new subsciber and came across your channel as a KZread recommendation. I spend a lot of my free time riding in the Peak District on my himmy just taking in the views. I think the Peak District has some of the best Cafes around and some truly stunning scenery.

    Hi, thanks for subscribing, welcome onboard. I think one of the reasons RE decided to take over was to make the parts issue better. It's unfortunate that it happened to my bike during the switchover. I love riding in the Peak District, two of my all time fav coffee stops, Fairholmes and Penny Pot in Edale. Ride safe, Dave

    YET another interesting video Dave, always wondered about different lengths of white lines, now I know, I did know of the hazard arrows, just shows how much we read the Highway Code, or even remember what we read. Cheers DINO and TEAM.

    Cheers Dino, I'm working on some rider tips videos and white lines and cats-eyes keep making an appearance in them. It's good getting out again on the BMW but it hasn't got the character of the Classic 350. I went out on it last weekend and it chucked it down. Don't get too hot over there, Keep you and the team safe, Dave

    I hated the 1150's servo linked brakes when I test rode one when they came out. There was something annoyed me on the 1200 too .. and the 1250 is just ugly. So I'm still riding my R1100RT, bought 1/10/1995. Just got a new WOF (I guess that's your "MOT") on it today, no problems.

    Great to see the videos are back!! Such a shame RE haven’t got their house in order with the spares situation. If the outcome of a forced steering lock causes that damage, they need to ensure they’ve got parts to fix it and get people back on the road. It might be someone’s only means of transport. Good luck and look forward to more videos. Regards Dave

I agree they need to get it sorted asap of people will start to lose confidence and that will feed into the hands of those who say RE are not worth bothering with. And as we know it's totally the opposite. Ride safe, Dave

    I'm pleased to see someone taking the initiative regarding these road markings, because not everyone studies the dreaded highway code. ( Takes me back to my working days!) Great video as always. Since we've been on the questions about road markings and their meanings in the UK, what are the zig-zagged side of the road markings indicating I usually see in towns?

  • @thatblokeonamotorbike

    @thatblokeonamotorbike

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi, there are white and yellow zigzags .white are at pedestrian crossings and yellow where other restrictions are in place such as schools and play areas. They both generally mean the same. You MUST NOT park within the zigzags You MUST NOT overtake within the zigzags And if filtering you MUST NOT pass the lead vehicle stopped at the crossing. So if filtering in stationary traffic you can filter to the back of the car that is stopped to keep the crossing clear l, but must not continue to filter until that vehicle moves off. Hope this helps, ride safe, Dave
