Hi Tyler, great review. Just got our new mini electric here in England.. 🇬🇧honestly this car is absolutely fantastic!! I understand your wife’s concerns as I also had this too from my dearest… But they’re only always 95% happy right!! ;) seriously though this little car meets most peoples needs 95% of the time.. it’s great. No regrets selling my big Bmw diesel bruiser! Best regards from UK :)

I absolutely have a blast driving this thing! I also find myself accelerating and driving much quicker than I should! lol Thank you so much for the view and comment!

I also didn't understand the center console buttons when I first got my SE, but I now use them all the time. They are like shortcut buttons that save 2-3 buttons taps on the touchscreen, so I ended up using them regularly to swap between music & map mode.

You don’t have to look at the screen while driving by using them, that’s the key.

I just picked up the exact same car, except I have silver wheels and roof rails. I love it so far-just went on a weekend road trip with only moderate range anxiety. 😬 It’s pretty fun to be able to point and pick where you want to be in traffic. The interior is so much nicer than my former 2019 Clubman. It’s just so well built and comfortable and quiet. I agree the center console area is not so great, but I do use the wheel all the time. It’s easier to use once you get used to it.

Great rundown of those little quirks in starting the car. I have experienced all of them except the key fob issue.' My son was frustrated when he first drove it and could not figure out how to shift it into gear! Foot on brake, then hit start, I told him, but somehow he still had to hit the orange start button a second time to get it to go. Same happens to me sometimes even after driving it a couple months. That aside, I do love this little hot electric hatch.

Does it have issues constantly dropping Bluetooth connection with CarPlay?

Enjoyed the review and overview...The built in garage door opener (on the rearview mirror) was available with the Iconic trim. I thought I'd miss it since I took over someone else's order. Now I'm glad I didn't go with a higher trim as I just put my opener on the side visor. You don't even see it day to day and it's super easy to reach, whereas reaching for the rearview mirror would actually be a hassle.

We have. Model Y no have ordered one of these mini Se s. My wife loved it. I loved it. And it will be great for around town

We have owned two gen2 Minis and even as a very portly old guy found them comfortable to drive and very sporting on winding roads. So yes I would be interested in an SE in the future.

Tyler, great review. I have been driving my 2022 since August 2021, it is a really great driving car. The key FOB problem may be due to a bad battery. I have never experienced the problem you are encountering with the key. What do you think about the headlights?

I really like a look of the head lights with the turn signals in them, I'm not sure we have really even driven at night to notice how the light output is but I would assume really good! Thanks for the view!

I too liked the Doug impression haha. I'll be curious to see how well it does in autocross!

The Mini is just a styling exercise though that appeals to young women. Generally they are not looking for features at that price point. But yes you would expect Wireless Charging. Even base Kia's have that now.

I’ll have mine for a year next month and it is perfect for me! I do 99% of my driving in a city environment, it’s just me, my wife and our dog and my wife does have an ICE car for any road trips we might do. Parking is a breeze and I have an enthusiast background and this is the most “fun to drive” car I ever owned. But I also realize I am niche and most people do not have my lifestyle, so I know it is not a good fit for most… but for those who it works for - it’s an unbelivably awesome car!

Hello, thanks for review. What about the 16 inch wheels.. does it handle well and give feedback or it needs 17 or even 18 inch low profile tyres? I just ordered mine with classic 16 inch trim not sure if thats okay for sporty hotch hatch or I need to buy a new set. I do nit care about the looks. Cheers

I agree that they should redesign the center console (there is no need for a shifter or parking brake in that space), but I like having the infotainment dial because I don't care for getting fingerprints all over the screen. I also think that the dial is better to use while driving - you don't have to look at the screen as much and can keep your eyes on the road a little more.

I get key recognition issues with my Giulia QV sometimes. Usually a new battery fixes it.

What sort of range is she getting to a full charge ?. As i assume mostly all Urban driving.

Yeah all city in town driving, fully charged is shows around 114miles for the range but most SE owners are finding getting quite a bit more than that if actually driving a lot of miles in one day, so far we haven't gone more than 80-90miles in one day. Thanks for the view!

@@TylerPotter Ok, so its the sort of EV that you just plug-in every time you get back home. My wife is a non-techie and does about 35 miles a day. So it might suit her. She doesnt get modes and stuff, just needs to press 1 button and go.

I stream Pandora and use my phone to call or text through the Android bluetooth link. That seems all that I want in phone integration. I use the MINI app to send destinations to the car GPS before I get in the car. Not owning IPhone, No Biggee

I like the breakdown of where the mini did not meet your expectations. This is the kind of feedback that the manufacturer needs to hear. With that said, it is the cheapest all electric car on the market (at this moment) and they spent the money on other things that I am sure other people would prioritize. I hope your wife can avoid the speeding tickets. Enjoy.

You won’t complain about the Mini SE base model not having wireless phone charge after knowing the BMW i4 base model in Canada doesn’t have heated front seats 🙄 My base model 2018 Honda Civic had heated front seats, but BMW decided to add this as an option so they can grab more $$ out of your pockets

@@TylerPotter I think it’s just their way to fit the car’s base model price in the government EV rebates. If they add everything, the car’s value will exceed that limit and people won’t buy their EV if there’s no rebate. It’s a smart move, but I was definitely shocked when I learned that 😅

Guess what. My phone (Pixel 4a 5g) doesn't have wireless charging. I normally charge my phone BEFORE I leave the house.

It Dosent support android auto because it uses the older BMW iDrive 6 which never supported android auto, only CarPlay. IDrive 7 and above supports it. You should get that key issue checked out at your dealer. That definitely should not be happening
