    The problem with taxes is it is human nature to not give a F about other people's money when there aren't immediate repercussions or any at all. The only acceptable income tax rate is 0% at the federal level, and the small amount of government we do need should can be financed through sales taxes, tolls, fees, etc.

  • @mautc1

    @mautc1

    29 күн бұрын

    Unfortunately that wouldn’t be posible. The federal government is in charge of many vital things, think commerce, federal infrastructure, air traffic control, the military, etc. This simply would not be able to be funded with just sales taxes or tolls, unless they become 45+%. That just would not be feasible.

But the most diabolical thing about this is that he would argue that I’m wanting an oversimplified version of the discussions, and that he’s sophisticated in his higher assessment of the problem, falsely stealing the high ground while intentionally ambiguating the argument just because he doesn’t want to lose the argument.

In Europe for example, college is subsidized and you decide yourself, that's why Pakman reacted the way he does. That’d be disastrous for you. America doing that protects American interests in those spaces commercially. Americas strength is influence. If you allow other countries to have that influence more than you then commerce gradually moves from you to them. China being in Africa having a monopoly on mined resources is why the Chinese car market has surpassed the US. Russia being a massive presence in the EU for energy means the sanctions the US imposed on them are virtually useless, how dire would the US influence in Europe be if they weren’t overspending on NATO alliances? If the US wasn’t on friendly financial terms with the Saudi’s historically this great currency dominance you’re slowly losing would have never gotten of the ground to begin with. The US doesn’t have a choice but to spend on countries because the minute they don’t they become useless instantly. You can’t point at a single thing the world would benefit from if the US stopped spending. What value would the IS be to anyone? YOUR economy is backed by our spending with YOUR dollar being the focal point. If you then spend all the money WE give you on YOURSELVES only then what reason do we have to cooperate with you?

Kid: But what specific toy do you have a problem with? It’s just obfuscation through asking for clarification. It’s a way to utilize the infinite potential granularity of details to position the conversation where he can be more rhetorically effective. If you have a 4 % gdp increase but inflation also went up 4% and taxes go up 4% the tax burden went up 5%

    I've always wondered if social programs were given a definitive cut off point and included skills or job training then were treated as loans where the recipient had to begin paying back a small fraction monthly, at least there would be a potential for money to be repaid into the system. The way some of them are set up now, they will assist with housing and child expenses if you quit your job. Why! My father had a co worker in government who suddenly lost her husband to a heart attack, they had three small children, she made too much on paper to get assistance but was told to quit her job and they would pay for food and housing she was moving up in the gs scale and had a bright career ahead her pay would increase in several years to the point she could then handle her own debts.The system is screwed up and needs to be modified to support not replace payroll,then re pay the loan at an ultra low rate,offer the women a contract and free birth control while on these assistance programs, remember they aren't a right the handouts are free currently with no end in sight and they are hemorrhaging cash,tax payers can't carry everyone.

    Yeah Patrick really puts the d in dumb in this one… he can’t even remember what his guest was saying half the time. He reminds me of so many of our gop senators and congressmen these days. Big reason why we are imploding. Can we get someone who can think for more than 1 second at a time?

    Legitimately a high level summary of this discussion! Patrick keeps trying to pull rabbits out of a hat to try to “get” David, but it’s not based in fact or reality so David isn’t going to understandably relate because there’s no rationale….

    I think David was pretending to not understand certain analogies (he is brilliant at doing this) so Patrick started reaching for all kinds of examples to get on the same page.

    Patrick isn’t debating in good faith. He’s using bogus analogies to paint David as a Biden supporter to deflect from his illogical views on Trump. Patrick always touts his rags to riches story yet supports a guy who would have kept him and his family from migrating to this country. I lost all respect for Patrick because he’s a rich dude that benefited from Trump’s policies and doesn’t care if the country went to shit because he can live anywhere he wants.

    Wow, this David Pakman just has no idea or ability to have a conversation. His default is, 'what do you mean' to avoid answering anything or conceding a point. He says he has degrees in Economics and can't understand simple points of taxation, accountability?! Whatever college he went to, it wasn't real.

    He knows for a fact that isn't true but he also knows the parallel that Patrick was making and that's why he couldn't give a straight answer that's why he couldn't say that he would be a better parent he did it through this whole debate he's a smart guy he knows what Patrick is doing and he's trying to avoid getting trapped and it just comes off as he's delusional he's not typical moves from the left

    Not only did he not immediately answer he actually said it depends. If I had to guess, I'd say he doesn't even really believe that, he was just intentionally being difficult and also he expects everyone else to submit to government, not him because he'll either be part of the nightmare government or have connections to it
