There’s nothing “wrong” about Fritz. Few players can play tennis like the big 3, and most players hit their ceiling before they would like to. Fritz is just one of them. In fact, he is one of those players that make the most out of his potential. Just think about the fact that he is very likely to achieve more than Monfils, Kyrgios,or Shapovalov in his career, which would be unthinkable in the beginning of their career. He’s been the top American consistently, when players like Paul, Tiafoe, Korda, and Shelton chasing, yet it still seems like it is going to be like that for some more years. I am not the biggest fan of Fritz but I really respect him for his achievements.

To be absolutely honest with you, it's amazing what Taylor Fritz has achieved with his "leg condition". I mean there are not many players who can actually move that well with X shaped legs. So for me, if I was his parent, I would be extremely proud of him.

What in the world are you talking about? He has standard legs. No one wins a Masters 1000 and beats Nadal with a "leg condition". The condition of his legs is FAST. I appreciate the Tennis Plus analysis and it's mostly spot-on. You will notice that Tennis Plus does not talk about the shape of his legs. That literally has NOTHING to do with anything. Right off the bat in his career, he got his girlfriend pregnant, married her, and then got divorced relatively quickly. I think that start hurt him and I suspect it's still hurting him in some way.

@@elmoblatch9787 you are either blind, blissfully ignorant, or just have never played tennis before to say this. His legs are fucked two ways to Sunday. His agility is dogshit, his movement is dogshit, his footwork is dogshit, can't imagine if he didn't have pro level trainers/physios etc to fix the abomination that are his legs/movement. there are plenty of tall lanky guys on the tour like sinner meddy etc that don't move like a war of the worlds tripod.

Great content! I think Fritz has definitely got some room to grow as a tennis player! He hasn't reached his ceiling, in my opinion! Mentally, he can still improve. With such a good serve, netplay should be incorporated more, variety in general, he's using the forehand dropshot more often, which is good! If he can add some slices in to the mix, get his movement just up by like 7% I think he could win way more matches! But I have a lot of respect for Fritz! He's obviously not as naturally gifted as Federer, for example, but works very hard to be the best he can be!

But still in my opinion he is definitely fun to watch and very talented. I appreciate your work by the way!

I feel like he’s done pretty amazing for being in a profession that he’s obviously been pushed into. But I think he has reached a certain limit with his game where maybe he lacks the passion that other players have to get that much more out of themselves. If you don’t have an inherent love of the game at that level I think it can sometimes show. I think he’s really pushed a body type that doesn’t seem natural for the sport so operating beyond your limit makes everything that much harder.

His phrase of the pressure of an American winning a GS frightens my hopes as a US fan. I get that they're other great US players that will have a shot too in the future such as Tiafoe, Paul, and Shelton, but why can he have the killer mindset of why cant I do it to achieve the impossible, which is something that US tennis fans have been wanting for a long time. Like he doesnt embrace the pressure to be the first US GS champion since he's the most consistent out of all the other top US players and won a Masters 1000.

I tend to agree with others who believe he's done very well to spend a fair time in the top 10 and win an M1000, he had a great patch of form and has since stabilised at a level which doesn't quite sustain those heights. There does seem to be something going on with his mentality with being so hard on himself, very visibly, during matches - I think it gives his opponents confidence and he doesn't quite have that air of belief that he had a few years ago. I think he'll have it back at some stage but he hasn't seem to have made any improvements on that mentality when it comes to being on the court and dealing with the ups and downs of a match. Recently he was scolding himself with his head in his hands - just because his opponent levelled the first set at 4-4. He's probably well aware that he needs to work on this but the lack of improvement is concerning.

Anyone saying Fritz is overrated is crazy. He has the best American backhand since maybe Agassi (Korda's is good but not as good in certain situations) and probably the best American first/second serve since Roddick. He's also pretty scrappy from the baseline, decent at the net, and obviously has a great forehand. The main things holding him back are his returns (quick lateral movement) and sprint ability as some people have commented. But he's already achieved so much and keeps improving. He is currently the only good all-round American player besides Tommy Paul, but he plays more aggressively than Paul so I think he has more upside

Taylor Fritz can transfer to being a Top 5 player, only if he acquires a transition game. I've been saying this for at least three years. Fritz simply does not recognise a short ball and cannot deal with short balls adequately, or create a short ball to attack. Constantly leaving himself frustrated as a result. It is clearly not instinctive for him to play transition tennis and finish points at the net. But there is no top five player in the world in any era of history without a transition game. His movement is not the best but there have been other Top players without great movement or fast twitch fibres, like Lindsay Davenport. So his biggest issue is his lack of a transition game. He really needs to work on this as a top priority if he wants to realise his potential more.

I thought the statement he was "scared to lose" was extremely evident the last half of 2023. Every time I watched him I just thought he looked very passive and almost uninterested. He seems to have really turned this around, at least from what I have seen. 2024 so far he seems to be playing some more inspired tennis, and much more "into" his matches. He just needs to find that next gear if he can.

Winning a Grand Slam today is extremely tough!!! Not only you have to make it to week 2 but at this stage you'll face against Medvedev, Sinner, Alcaraz or Djokovic (let's see if Nadal can make it to) and that is extremely difficult. If you manage to bit one of those guys one of them is going to be waiting for you at semis or at the final!

Fritz has a great serve, you'd might say even a fast arm and good ball striking ability, good hands but he seems flat footed and kind of clunky in his movement and to win a Slam I don't think you can have one glaring weakness. Andy Roddick matched up badly against Federer but he was light on his feet and had better all round athleticism that Fritz also by the age of 26 had a bunch of Slam final appearances and his sole Slam the 2003 US Open which didn't really accurately describe his tennis career, he was a consistent contender.

Still think Taylor has a lot of potential. He just needs to get his mindset right to play big games.

Nothing wrong with Fritz. He's a solid top 15 guy. And he'll probably stay there for several more years. Win a grand slam though? I'd be shocked if he does. But whatever, being a top 15 player and sometimes top 10 player is a great living. We can't complain a guy like that is having a bad career.

Fritz has reached his maximum potential. He's worked hard. He's a high level player but he's not a good enough athlete to win a slam.

Fritz should have won that 2021 Australian Open match against Djokovic and the 2022 Wimbledon match against Nadal, I imagine things such as playing under pressure would be different for him.
