​@@nathanial8587Tim Rose himself said that at the time he came very close to being drafted into Vietnam and had very strong views on war. He didn't want Ackbar to start celebrating like everyone else, he said he was thinking about all the people (even though they were fictional) who died on both sides and he actually physically slumped in his chair because of that. They wanted him to do another take where he stood up and cheered but he refused.

The fact that if you blink and you miss his death is one of the biggest slaps in the face to his character.

its so obvious they just included him to pander and don't actually give a shit abt the character, in the older scenes people actually listen to him and as soon as he says a few words in force awakens everyone just kinda looks at him/treats him like hes some sort of alien uknow and everyones shootin out these plan ideas dismissin anyhting he says, like he's supposed to be the ADMIRAL in this bitch. I am angry at this.

​@@Wills-Corner Do you read any comics or backstory to any of the characters? Just because he wasn't in your top movie characters as a number one role means nothing. You also think that Lando Calrissian wasn't an important character because of his screen time but Mace Windu, Count Dooku and BB-8 had less and they were important characters.

The first time I saw this, the admiral had my respect, just for being a lobster in a starship, and giving orders to everyone

He has one of the most iconic lines in movie history, and in four and a half minutes, he left a larger mark on film than most characters in any franchise.

I wouldn't say that, but he was a well beloved character, even getting fleshed out stories in the EU and a great story in CLone Wars where he defended his planet from a Seperatist invasion, same with Mon Mothma, Rebel leadership intorduced pretty late, yet later material fleshed them out, and now they're iconic, it's sad how Last Jedi did Ackbar dirty as much as I hate how nonsensical and lore breakng the Hold Maneuver was, it should have been Ackbar who if he was going to die would go out that way. THe flagship was named the Raddus, named after the Mon Cal admiral who led the Rebel Fleet in Rouge One and essentially sacrificed himself in that battle, either being executed or at least captured as his ship didn't flee the battle. WHo better to sacrifice themself on the Raddus then Ackbar, it shouldn't have been Holdo as much as I hate that illogical yet still cool looking scene.

Rian Johnson's initial crime lasts for 152 minutes. The ongoing crime is that this still exists within the Star Wars Universe. I hope E9 begins with Fin or Leia waking from a hyperspace sleep and declaring they've just had the worst nightmare ~ when briefly describing said nightmare to crew gives an overview of E8. Crew reassure them that was 'all a BAD dream' then cut to Ray climbing the stairs on Ahch-To to pick up where E7 left us....

And the Last Jedi defenders say he was barely in the movies... He was one of the most important supporting characters

TIL the crew of 'Return of the Jedi' mocked the character design of Admiral Ackbar, deeming it too ugly. Director Richard Marquand refused to alter it, saying, "I think it's good to tell kids that good people aren't necessarily good looking people and that bad people aren't necessarily ugly people." The admirals name raises questions.

Such a great character who deserved to live longer.

It’s even sadder to watch this now, that the actor behind admiral Ackbar has shown his sadness behind his participation in such a joke of a movie as the last jedi by ruin johnson. Always in our hearts admiral ❤️

Its a pastiche, in this case a homonym of the word spelled slightly differently. English has tons of ways to use play on word forms of expression. I really dont put it past Lucas to make him "General Almighty" instead of going with the predictable latin "General Augustus"

Thanks for mentioning it, but I can't tell if or which Mon Calamari was Ackbar with the Ewoks. There's one or more wearing hats, but no sign of the black rank insignia on the chest.

This is beautiful.. Great effort.. It was so sad that they didn't give him a good death. He should've just been the purple haired lady, it would've been great for him to ram the other ships.

The least they could have done was have Ackbar react to the Torpedoes about to hit. Or even have him say something like "Intensify Bridge Shields!!!!" With the second Mon Cal saying "It's no use!" To Mirror Admiral Piett's Death from ROTJ.

Unfortunately, but I prefer to look at it as a sacrifice so the rest of the resistance could survive. Still sucks but atleast in the graphic Novelization he gets one last thing.

1 minute ago Prequel trilogy is vastly underrated and where we get all of our Jedi experience. I liked Force Awakens a lot when it came out. Last Jedi sucked. But only once I saw the Rise of a skyWalker did I realize it actually didn’t suck nearly as bad as it could have. Lawrence Kasdan was missed for episodes 8 & 9. Anyone else share these sentiments? Disney has ruined what was basically my favorite thing. I still haven’t even watched the Disney + show. I bc ant even think of its name right now. That’s how out on Star Wars I’ve become. How cool would it be if they could get an A list director to do a trilogy. Someone dark like Nolan, Fincher, or PTA. Other than that, thanks for posting the video. This was nostalgic.

He was the one who got Holdo straight and assisted her in the light-speed ram. That's what happened if you ask me.

Admiral Ackbar is one of my favorite characters in Star Wars that's part of the Alliance to Restore the Republic and later the New Republic and eventually the Resistance in the Star Wars comics, Return of the Jedi (1983), The Force Awakens (2015) and The Last Jedi (2017), alongside Poe Damoren, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Lando Classrian, Mon Mothama and Vice Admiral Holdo. I also wish they had Admiral Ackbar survive Kylo Ren's wingmen's attack on the Raddus's main bridge (killing all the Resistance officers except Leia Organa who survived thanks to the force.) and became substitute leader of the Resistance while Leia was recovering from her injuries instead of Holdo and had him perform the Holdo maneuver instead of Holdo to destroy the Supremacy via the Raddus instead of Holdo, you know to give him a proper and more worthy and emotional death scene like in the How It Should Have Ended veirson of The Last Jedi (2017).

Expanded Universe gave him so much more, in the new canon everyone after him couldn't measure up.

I actually thought the other girl (not leia) made the jump to hyperspace but NOW, I have the urge of crying ITS A TRAAP!

Admiral Ackbar was the best general of the Rebel Alliance and New Republic. He lead them from the Clone Wars to the Resistance. May be rest in peace and may the force be with us.

Way better death for him in Legends. He simply dies of old age peacefully in his sleep at the closing days of the Yuuzhan Vong war. The Galactic Alliance (the partnership between the New Republic and Imperial Remnant) fleet goes into that final battle in his name.
