    I just recently purchased a 13 brz and I'm looking for a good performance full exhaust. I know most of the sound I'm looking for will come when I start putting down more power, but whats a good setup to go with that will maximize power/air flow on a turbo build for this car while also giving it a good sound. So far from what I've read seems like a lot of people like the flowmaster and perrin exhausts.

    If you guys say 'Engine out and Engine back in' and I let my imagination run wild...then I assume a 2JZ Swap as I heard Pete say Forced Induction early on in the episode.....Please don't play with my emotions! If you are doing a 2JZ swap I would be so thankful! AsI am in the process of doing one now and it would be great to follow along with you both at the same time...or I could be reading way too much into this and for that I am and forever will be a gear head :) cheers

    Hayleboi By different I meant swapping to a newer, less abused FA20 engine so there won't be any 2JZ engine swap happening into this car... not for this event anyways. We do have a 2J sitting at the shop but it'll be going into our BMW wagon this fall and that's a job we'll be documenting fully!

  • @speedacademydave

    @speedacademydave

    james harrison We left a blower motor under the dash to defog the windscreen in rainy conditions, and we kept the heater core too since Targa Newfoundland can get really chilly, but we could probably yank that out for Ontario1500.

    Hey guys, I remember you were saying that you were having problems with your brake pedal being too high. I'm actually having the same issue in my FA5 Civic Si. Were you able to fix this? I'm wondering if it's an issue for newer cars.

  • @speedacademy

    @speedacademy

    9 жыл бұрын

    loveskating3 usually the brake pedal is adjustable. If you crawl under the dash, you'll find there's an adjuster that will let you raise or lower the brake pedal so you can fine-tune it's position to your liking. We lowered ours and it hasn't been an issue since.

    I don't get that pulley kit. Isn't it cheaper lighter and more beneficial to just delete the system and change the belt? Cause simply having the extra friction of the pulley is what "robs" power.

    ***** Our shop is actually a renovated chicken coop that we rent some space out of. We don't actually work on other people's cars just our own there. As for affording this stuff, we do this for a living which means we hope to eventually start making money at it through partnerships with companies like Turn14 who help us get parts and support this project.

    I just have to check before I place my own order, but you guys have KW clubsports and you used the raceseng 2" shock mounts for the rear. The reason I ask is because their web site says it only fits variant 1-3. But I didn't think there was a difference in the rear shock other than spring rate and valve from the V3 to clubsport. any help would be nice. I also emailed them to check.

    InfuseDJ our FR-S is built in partnership with Scion Canada and supported by our site partners and other parts suppliers we've worked closely with over the years. Doing Targa should be a lot more affordable for you since it's local to you, which cuts out a huge part of the cost.

    carfreaks1024 haha, funny you should ask, because when watching the video I started to wonder the same thing. Rok Bedekovič sorry Rok, the "engine swap" line is a bit deceiving…we're actually just swapping in a fresh FA20, since the engine currently in the car has been raced hard for the last couple years, so we wanted a fresher engine for a gruelling event like Ontario1500. If we were going to ditch the FA20, I think it'd be really hard not to do a 2JZ like our buddy Pat Cyr did. We shot a video about that swap. Check it out if you get a chance.

    David Pratte i will :) just tell me one thing...if not 2jz, which would you prefer?ej or 2gr?

  • @speedacademydave

    @speedacademydave

    9 жыл бұрын

    Rok Bedekovič 2GR idea is pretty cool, especially if you throw that TRD supercharger on it. It'd certainly be a unique swap to do in a FR-S and I like that we'd be keeping it in the Toyota family. I like that the EJ would stay with a flat-4 for that low center of gravity that gives the FR-S a lot of its specialness. Hmm. Tough call, but the FA20 is a good flat-4 already, so if I wanted a turbo flat-4 I'd just build the FA20 and put a turbo kit on it. So ya, if I'm going to swap it, 2GR it is (if you won't let me go 2JZ lol).

  • @speedacademydave

    jonswiftucf exactly. This is a fully caged car that doesn't see street use except when driving to/from the track, so A/C is a luxury we can live without. It's hard to save weight on the FR-S since it's so light to begin with, so taking 31 lbs out this way just makes sense on a dedicated race car.
