Cato Sicarius is the Captain of the Ultramarines Victrix Guard. Among his titles are Master of the Watch, Knight Champion of Macragge, Grand Duke of Talassar, and High Suzerain of Ultramar. During his various military campaigns Sicarius gained many honors. Among the most famous of these being the Imperial Laurel after the Crusat Minor Planet Strike, and the Honorifica Valorum after the Battle of Dyzanyr. Sicarius was aboard his own Strike Cruiser, Emperor's Will, when the Astronomican malfunctioned. The last known message from the vessel before it was lost in the Warp was "They have breached the hull, they are here". Sicarius was declared missing by the Ultramarines, and Captain Acheran has assumed leadership of the 2nd Company. Sicarius eventually returned to Imperial space and subsequently joined Lord Commander Guilliman's Indomitus Crusade. Suffering from survivor's guilt and a degree of mental trauma from his experiences in the Warp, Sicarius was nonetheless placed in command of Guilliman's Victrix Guard.

Yeah I can’t imagine being sent to the Warp being much of a nuisance to him since he’s been in the eye of terror for the last 10000 years (while he wasn’t in a black crusade of course). The only thing I can think of is if one of the 4 intervine to kinda trap him in a specific part of the warp unless he devotes himself to them, kinda like Mortarion.

I find it very interesting that the way GW decided to deal with the Ultramarine "Plot Armor" stuff was to say "Yes, they absolutely did win that hard against some of the most impossible threats imaginable, and often multiple times in a row. Also the shock of having to deal with this much heavy stuff so quickly and so often has basically psychologically demolished their most accomplished soldiers."

@@salphoris911and even more, they would've done a lot of the other primarchs a lot more justice than GW does. I'd have been interested to see how they dealt with Angron. Angron, more than any other Primarch, was just screwed from the outset. Literally as his pod opened, xenos, commonly believed to be Eldar, tried to kill him as an infant. I mean, given that he was found by a slaver covered in blood and with a lot of xenos corpses around him, you can see how that ended. Forced to kill his father figure, and when he refused, he had the Butchers Nails installed in his brain, and was then forced to do so again. After starting a slave revolt, he and his thousand slaves fled to the mountains, surrounded by the opposing armies, fully intent to fight and die together, only for Big E to teleport him away from the fight, and to do nothing to save the other gladiators. Genuinely the biggest mistake Big E ever made regarding Angron, as even with the Nails, had Big E also saved the other gladiators, I don't see Angron turning traitor. After being taken away, Angron sought only one thing. Death. Which is why Lorgar turning him into a Daemon was just the final nail into the Tragedy of Angron.

The fun fact about vortex granaded c'tan is that it wasn't really killed. Just placed into the warp. And while that's basically the same thing for most things, c'tans are loughably hard to kill. Even peak necron tech barely does the job. So I imagine it's still out there turning a small region of the warp into a deathzone no demon wants any part in. As a sidenote imagine that you are a plaguebearer or something just chilling in a pool and a goddamn c'tan shard just appears in front of you

When you think about it, vortex weapons are basically the only thing that can get rid of C'Tan. The C'Tan and Necrons have no connection to the Warp and no Warp-based technology. Every seemingly impossible thing they do is done through pure science, unlike Humans and Eldar who use copious amounts of magic. Thus, while being banished to the Warp won't kill them, if you send them in, they can't get out. The only problem is that you have to actually hit the bastards.

In that section of the book, Numitor has a member of the Water Caste cornered and she uses her skills of speech, language, and charisma to try and survive in the situation. Cato catches up to Numitor and straight up Mercs her whilst chastising Numitor. It’s meant to make Sicarius look like an asshole and he really is through out the book. The thing about the Tau that Cato killed mercilessly? She wasn't pleading for her life, she was actually, genuinely, attempting to demoralize the Ultramarine she was conversing/pontificating by pretending to be vulnerable while seeking a chance to kill either him or any other Ultramarine she encountered... With a pistol she hid. I disagree with Bricky, knowing the above thing makes the whole interaction a lot funnier because here's a Tau, one not in a battlesuit, trying to kill a Space Marine with a simple gun. If it were a bomb and she wanted to take out a Marine along with herself? Believable. A pistol though? Yeah, if Cato hadn't killed her, any Ultramarine she was trying to demoralize would do so anyway after the shot failed to kill him.

She was a water caste civilian (already far more fragile than a normal human) facing an eight foot tall murder machine that was intending to kill her anyway. Gun or no gun she was 100% vulnerable when you factor in what she was facing. Reaching for the gun while distracting her executioner was probably her only small chance of getting out of this alive if she managed to nail the shot. Hell, the fact that she managed to stay calm enough to even attempt this under such circumstances is legit badass. Either way, Cato doesnt need any justification for killing her. In the end of the day he is a Space Marine, a person who has been brainwashed since he was a pre-teen by a fascist regime and turned into a weapon designed to HATE everything that is non-human and to exterminate them with 0 pity, be it soldier or civilian. People tend to forget that. Because lets be real, that Tau could have been an unarmed pregnant mother, in a wheelchair carrying twins in her ams and the outcome would have been the same.

I am playing through the campaign of the game Battlesector, where you play as Blood Angels on Baal with Guilliman’s Indomitus Crusade in orbit waiting for you to clear up the last few Tyranids. In one of the last levels, I am warned by my superior that if we take too much longer, Guilliman has threatened to send Cato Sicarius to complete my mission.

he used to be hated, as he was like the Ultraist Ultramarine. However since then he has gotten character development (also Ultra-PTSD) and has become a much better character. So people actually genuinely like him now. He is also still funny meme man thanks to TTS

Great Episode. Cato Sicarius is one of those figures who is more interesting on an out-of-universe level than in in-universe. He is the posterchild of how to spin stupid lore into nuanced lore. The only thing Bricky missed, is that Cato Sicarius and Uriel Ventris don't like each other. Which is fair enough, considering Ventris wasn't mentioned on the podcast yet.

I think you can have your cake and eat it too with possible scenarios regarding the death of Erebus. You can have his death broadcasted across the entire galaxy with everyond cheering his death, THEN reveal to him that all of it was just in his mind and in reality he dies on some remote planet in some remote corner of the galaxy, killed by one of the many many many people he screwed over

That actual remind me of a short story who name I can not recall, about this grand sorcerer, who doing all sorts of stuff, outdoing powerful rivals magical contest and just being the best... Spoil warning Then you go to the end and realized it a death vision, given by Tzeenteeth himself. The Grand Sorcerer with nothing more than a mutant living in some primitive backwater world, in a trivial shuffle of a rival cult.

I really wish they'd do an episode where it talks about space marines who captured a dark eldar and broke him by basically putting him in a sensory deprivation chamber for days and days COULD have been fanfic but it was really good!

sensory deprivation is bad enough already, but doing that to a being so pathologically addicted to stimuli is just downright cruel. but knowing what those sick fucks do to their slaves, it's kind of refreshing edit: i believe they were known as the carcharodons, or space sharks

I think that a future maybe 2 parter could be Alexis Pollux and the Crimson Fists. First episode talking about Alexis, his role in the heresy and his bond with Dantioch, and the second episode covering the Crimson Fists chapter as a whole, and the Battle of Rynn’s World. I think that DK would get a kick out of the Rynn’s Might story
