You forgot the Routing in the Slap Part. If you activate it only the Tail of the Slap goes to the Plate Reverb, wich is really nice!

Which is the point with this and Epic CLA. Putting the Reverb on the delay - to make it natural sounding. Delay by itself sounds close, and a bit unnatural. Gotta feed into the Reverbs, CLA couldnt be more adamant about it. He has a whole KZread show on it, lol. Mixing with depth.

  • @dvnation22
    @dvnation223 жыл бұрын

If you watched the recent CLA videos where he talks about depth, routing your sends through other sends was his main point. Literally the whole point of this plugin is the routing capability, where you can run the delay through the reverb. This is why you either need to research a plugin more before you demo it, or actually read the manual because you completely missed out on the whole point of this plugin. That part where you were like "not sure what this routing button does" - that right there is what this thing is about and what makes it different from other standard reverb/delay plugins.

Facts!!!!!!! I was like bro you do not understand how clutch this is when it comes to routing. Yeah it better not be higher than $35 but the routing alone sold me... I can make my reverb and delay sound like what I want so I don’t see why he was fussing about that.

  • @conanliquid

I think you sort of touched on it in your conclusion. These kinds of plugins are great if you are writing sketches and you need something quick to grab and inspire. Then in a final mix, you would probably replace it with your own chain. Also remember not everybody has a ton of plugins, hardware and knowledge, so this kind of plugin is perfect for them. It's also pretty good on CPU which for a decent sounding reverb/slap is a benefit. Overall, I think it is a great plugin to have on my laptop for mobile sketches and inspiration, but I would probably replace it with my own slap and reverb in a final mix.

Every musician has a home studio these days, but most are not skilled mixing engineers, and don't want go be, they just want something quick and easy to make them sound good. Even if you are skilled at mixing, plugins like these are great to throw onto a track while you're writing andrecording, to give some inspiring ambience rather than recording everything dry. You can always mix it properly later.

I downloaded it. I am not a pro. It was intended for vocal, I used it on the Arturia Mini Moog instrument for a few hours. I like it, quick, free, sounds good. It said in the manual that it down samples the modulation down to 44.1 then back up to the DAW sample rate (I use 48), what does that do in a practical sense? I run Logic pretty streamlined without a million 3rd party plugins but like to use a few for their presets - because I can try to reverse engineer the sound with Logic effects - it’s a method of learning something about audio engineering. I think I’ll keep it around since I haven’t tried it on vocals yet. Not snake oil.

Yep. They usually give you a loyalty voucher each month (not on the quarterly sale months) which can be from $25 to $75 depending on how much you've spent with them in the past 12 months (these have a minimum spend, for example $99 for a $75 voucher). These vouchers expire before the end of the month and they often give out a couple of those $29.99 vouchers for the last few days (but maybe not on the quarterly sale months, I'm not sure). Also, if you're a loyal customer, when they put a plugin on sale they usually send you a personal email offer for an even cheaper price, so be sure to sign up for their emails. Not long ago they brought out a brand new plugin for $200, I think the introductory sale price was $150, personal sale price for me was only $100, used my $75 voucher and got it for $25! I recommend joining their Facebook group. They not only keep you up to date with vouchers (in case you missed the email) but people actually give away loyalty vouchers that they don't want! facebook.com/groups/pa.audiophiles

Free is a fantastic price. I'm OK with the delay and reverb plugins I already have in my DAW, honestly. Plugins are getting to be like fonts - I'd prefer to have a small collection of great fonts rather than having 50,000 fonts to scroll through. But it'd be crazy to complain about FREE.

I don't get it, there's DDL+Reverb algos on every multiFX. Is it set like a feedback routing that we cannot achieve easily in a DAW? I watched the "Depth" series by CLA and this plugin does not relate to his technique, so I don't really understand.

  • @MixChecks

He kept saying in the series that it would be so hard to achieve in a DAW, but I feel like it would be pretty easy. I already send my delays to my reverbs all the time.

@@MixChecks yeah I do so, all the time. I don't know why they show that like something revolutionary. I use Cubase for decades there's Aux sends on evey FX channel, maybe it's not the case on protools or other DAWs?

You're point of view that it has a little value, but nothing that exceeds what you already have, is valid ... for you. What you are failing to take into account is that you are literally sitting in the middle of a top end, professional, completely impressive, Hollywood quality audio studio. Sure, given that, the plug-in fails to be life-changing. However, most of us have modest set-ups, and so a totally free plug-in with semi-pro, reasonable quality reverb and slap is a kind of wonderful thing.

Nice plugin, and many will appreciate how easy and quickly you can get a decent Slap/Verb effect. The modulation and routing add a lot, and it's all just a click away. Presets aren't bad either to be honest. The sound on guitars, acoustic and electric, on vocals, and on ambient pads is very nice too. But everybody who would need this already have a Slap/Verb aux channel in their mixing templates, don't they? So after playing with it for about half an hour, I like it, but don't think I will use this very often. I tend to grab my trusted Delays and Reverbs that I am familiar with over this one. But for people who like quick and totally acceptable results, it's a good plugin.

These effects could be done with parallel processing delay reverb and a side chain compressor. but this plug-in makes the process faster. Which is great. but people should learn how to do it without this plug-in first.

Not sure if this millenial reviewer understands... but Waves just 'gave away' here, for all for free, their models of the best studio digital reverbs & delays in history from Lexicon, Deltalab & more still... used in the best pro studios in the world today. Plus they are in one plugin where they can be used intertwined in unison, a studio pro trick of the finest engineers and producers that use/used them. These are the reverbs & delays heard on near all of the top records & classic songs from the 80's til 2000's and many today. These classic units today together would cost many many thousands if you could find working ones in decent condition.

This is CLA’s go-to combination for lush lead vocals, based on his settings for two of his favorite hardware units. You can easily blend the two effects using the plugin’s faders - either in parallel, or with the delay sent to the reverb, as Chris does to achieve his unique lead vocal sound. Use this stellar-sounding slap/plate combination to turn any lead part - whether a lead vocal, guitar solo or lead synth line - into the standout element of your production
