I was in NY to visit about a month ago. I was terrified and disgusted. Rats, trash & the smell I can only describe as a porta toilet. The lady walking in front of me had her purse stolen and there was a police officer maybe 20 feet from her. She did nothing but turn and look and ask the lady if she wanted to make a report. But the officer said that nothin" would come of it. The officer talked her into not making a report. WTF!!! - We cut our trip short and went back to Florida. At a minimum law enforcement has the freedom (mandate) to enforce laws that are on the books. NY reminded me of a third world country. I will never visit again!

I never see them show crowds of WHITE people looting stores for the past 4 or 5 years, I think the media is Resist, they want us to think that 99% of the looting in America is done only by BLACKS,!! Guys says "it's like the wild wild west out there." I'd argue it's far worse. Back in the "wild wild west" times, you were allowed to carry and defend yourself and your belongings. You'd get harsh punishment for stealing. And you weren't treated as the criminal for defending yourself and your belongings.

We seem to have forgotten that we work on the honour system to begin with. If this new criminal generation wants to take advantage of that, more security that will do nothing cause there’s nothing to do isn’t the solution. Put everything behind a counter, hire a couple more staff and keep the products out of the public’s reach till they have paid the full amount owning. Simple, annoying but seriously simple.

I watched a news report about a Walmart getting looted. What was so sad was a woman in tears, crying about not knowing how she was going to get food for kids because that store was the only one around. Thieves don't care that their actions are eliminating jobs, driving up prices, and cutting off food and supplies for some of our most vulnerable citizens. Also, empty stores contribute to neighbor blight, making neighborhoods in desirable areas ripe for gentrification, further pushing the average, working class citizens to the fringes because they can not afford outrageously priced luxury homes.

True story. Many years ago, I had friends, a married couple I met in Austin where I lived at the time. They moved there from NYC, a city they loved. She's American and he's from the DR. It took him 5 years to talk his brother and sister and their spouses to move to Texas. At first, they hated it (You have to have a car just to get food down here!). One of the spouses saw that I had only one latch on my apartment door. "You guys only have one lock? You don't even have a chain! What if somebody breaks in? I replied, "Oh, we shoot people for that." They've been here for years now and you couldn't pry them out of Texas with a crowbar. And they began encouraging extended family to come to my beloved Lonestar State.
