4:17 am in Seattle and I'm sitting here eating chicken wings watching another Field Days adventure. Life is good.

For future reference. Once the tinny fills up again, get going in a straight line and pull the plug at the back of the boat. Don’t let off the throttle until water is gone and plug is back in. Problem solved. Used to rent those things back in the day

Had to pull the bungs meself after getting a Blue wave over the side & bilge didnt work. Oh by the way a bilge pump is a good idea.

just needed to do this 3 days ago in a rib taking ppl out of a natural harbour and getting flooded form behind it is the best thing to do also good to have a trunk u can drop to make it faster.

How old is your boat ? It's not good that it took on water suddenly at sea. Was it poor construction or poor handling that made it break along a weld ? Hope it repaired and throughly fully inspected now.

You should put rubber or pillows on the wheelwells. This happened to me once aswell. When you're driving offroad and dont strap the rear end to your trailer, the boat is gonna bounce and hit the wheelwell.

Glad you got back safely. FYI, If you pop the bung out while going along the water will get sucked out then pop the bung back again when it's empty. Just don't drop it :)

If you pull the plug while under way all the water will quickly suck right out of the boat. You should always have plugs accessable from the inside compartment of the boat so you can drain water in an emergency.

Willow is correct, Dad forgot the plug one day. Over 1 foot in boat. We did this and water did drain...we put plug in from inside boat after water drained and returned to shore to plug properly.

You have to be on a plane and the plug can't be too big, but it will drain (ref. "venturi effect"). Once you come off the plane though, you have to be ready to put the plug back in quickly (not to mention the risk of dropping it into the Indian Ocean, since Matt's boat has it installed from the outside ;0). Look into a self-bailing plug.

Well, there are many reasons for that to happen, one comment above said it could have been from the boat hitting the trailer after all those bumps....never know..

@@aaronusher3097 when you trailer a boat, the winch pulls the bow of the boat securely against a stop on the trailer, securing it against forward or backward movement. Then straps in the rear secure the boat from moving side to side. The crack is clearly outside the bunks on which the hull of the boat rides. therefore it is most unlikely that the trailer caused the damage to the boat.

The stringers in the boat have been forced up from being driven through rough water when you get it fixed make sure they press the stringers back down to floor level. I’ve done this type of repair heaps of times. You can weld it up but without support it will crack again

And yes I’m a boilermaker and most of my work for a long time has been repairing cracks just like that one in your boat.
