    Thank you!!! Love to buy you a beer!! Was fighting with it for over 2 hrs, couldn't find info, then I tried again and found you. I've done the breaks before on mine, yet never had the problem as bad with removing my drums. I'm a 2003, there's actually a pin you press at that location. Don't have to put a small screw driver in there. Anyway, THANK YOU!!

    2-9 24, am working on one currently, the grooves in the drums are VERY deep, causing a BIG lip on the end, to make matters worse the adjusters are frozen solid, it was hell getting the drums off! Am replacing everything on there, it's a 01 Chevy W4500 which is the same thing as an Isuzu, now we're trying to find parts, it's challenging, definitely do not want to tackle this job unless you have plenty of experience, weekend DIY Warriors need NOT apply for one of these jobs🙄

    Quick question, I tried adjusting both sides to get the brakes closer to the drum but was only able to do the adjustment toward the forward part of the vehicle on both sides. The adjusters toward the back of the vehicle would not budge. I tried sticking a screwdriver in the little hole to push the tab like you suggested in the video but still wouldn't budge. Do you know if you're only able to adjust the brake outwards from the forward hole? Or did I only adjust the pad towards the front side and not the back

  • @herpabetic

    @herpabetic

    6 ай бұрын

    Sorry about the delay I tried to keep up with all .. They easily adjust to Titan. They need a punch or something pushed on the tab to open them both.. What I am understanding is that you have a hard time on adjusting them. Outward to remove the drum correct?

  • @jasonmoore7322

    @jasonmoore7322

    6 ай бұрын

    No I'm not trying to get the drum off at this point I just wanted to adjust the brakes outward. I was able to spend the adjustment wheels that are on the forward part of the back tire but not the ones toward the back of the back tire if that makes sense. I know that the adjustment wheels toward the back side of the tire need to have the tab pushed in to loosen them but it was my understanding that this was not needed to tighten the pads toward the drum. I did try a small Phillips head screwdriver to push the tab but had no luck. It wouldn't budge. I guess I was hoping that I only needed to adjust the forward wheel to get the brakes to tighten up but it seems that I probably only adjusted the forward pads and not the aft pads of the rear wheels. Maybe I will try a small punch and tap the tab with a hammer to see if I can get it to move. Thanks again for your replies I appreciate it! Your video definitely helped me understand how the back brakes work on these trucks. Unlike many other trucks there is not that much info on the internet for these trucks so this video was super helpful 👍

  • @herpabetic

    @herpabetic

    @@jasonmoore7322 Ok, try blowing them out with air after using brake clean. Maybe they are just Full of debris.. Sometimes it's hard to get the screwdriver right in that little hole. To push the tab, just have to feel for the returns. Spring it pushing back out as long as all that is in place. Everything should go well

  • @jasonmoore7322

    @jasonmoore7322

    Since I don't have the hubs off I tried using a endoscope to look inside the hole. Pretty sure I was hitting the right spot with the screwdriver to push the tab in but I may have been off a little bit. I will try to do some more probing around in there 👍. I need to just pull the hubs off and put new pads in the back but after doing rotors pads and calipers on the front my ass is wore out😅. The front rotors are a pain to change out on these trucks. I found that map gas or a oxyacetylene torch to heat stuff up on the front is the key! Especially for that damn tone ring

  • @herpabetic

    @herpabetic

    6 ай бұрын

    @@jasonmoore7322 Yeah, it definitely can be a pain in the butt. I have a video on my channel of how I do them with no heat. As long as you clean everything decently they slide off o k.. And yeah, in the back definitely maybe use brake clean first and then blast it with air. So everything is busted loose. Then you should feel the end of the screwdriver. Slightly bounced back at you when you hit the right tab.. It has a divot in it that will hold the tip of the screwdriver perfectly and place also.
