Yes, it's testing limits. For example, just two years ago battlefield role of drones was badly underestimated. And look it now. Evolution of technology only in that section of modern arms really shaked& shaped tactics and results of war.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that this Thang is the best in the world like bar none. But it definitely is the best in the world for Israel. It handles all of the requirements that the Israelis need. Good survivability. A good gun, and because it is locally produced Ease of logistics. One thing that the Israelis have done with their tank developments is they recognize that a good tank crew is better than a really good tank. So that’s why or at least that’s one of the reasons why it has that access hatch at the rear. Yes you can put infantry in it. But that’s not its primary purpose. It’s an MBT not an IFV. Oh, I like to think of it as kind of like how there really is no such thing as the perfect tank. But like I said, the Israelis have the perfect tank for themselves. Now I can’t really see this thing being exported to other countries for things like expeditionary combat missions. But for things like National defense within their own borders, I can definitely see it being used. Mostly due to the simple fact of its extreme size. Frankly, if you want the closest thing to the best change, do you want something send will not have much difficulty in working in various environments. And most of all, it Hass to be easy to transport relatively speaking. That’s one of the reasons why I have often felt that the M4 Sherman from the second world war is probably one of the best tanks. Yes, it’s not perfect. The gun isn’t great and the armor is not the best, but you have to take into consideration that, the Sherman tank was used on pretty much every front of the war. This particular tank is definitely an advantage for the Israelis. But considering the fact that they are constantly surrounded by irate neighbors, they need this advantage.

@@noparuthirankate7895if the engines got destroyed or too damaged to work that's why they have remote controlled machine guns on top of the tank with a built in 65mm mortar to at least protect the crew for a period of time while they wait for rescue or backup to arrive The merkava is not a tank designed for a massive infantry attack I think it's more focused on scouting with it's advanced 360 degree vr camera and range finders while tanking sniper and rpg shots from the enemy so that the infantry can be safe behind it Edit: Oh I forgot that the aps trophy system can also work as a proximity shotgun if the ai misidentifies a person from a missile, which the IDF keeps it turned off or probably fixed in a 180 degree angle so that the infantry behind won't become swiss cheese

There will always be "one upmanship" in the military, be it tanks, planes, rifles, etc. I could never understand why the U.S. military ever transitioned to the 5.56 when there were much better rounds available, even in the .22 caliber, such as .22/250. I served in the USMC from 1958 to 1964. Our T.O. weapon was the M1 Garand. As youngsters, as are virtually all combat military servicemen, the 7.62 was no problem to carry, even hanging several extra bandoliers across our shoulders.

I wonder if yasin 105 costs more than 10 dollars or not.

No, Merkava was able to stop lots of kornets, RPG-7's RPG-29's and Konkurs missiles, Also Israel has 360 of Merkava mk.4m which is pretty impressive, they achieved this number in only a few years, and they got hundreds more MK.4 which are now in modernization progress. Merkava mk.5 was developed only a month or so ago, so we can expect at least 100 of those in the end of the year, Kornet won't have the ability to even try to aim at it, they will be the first to be hit.@@ahmedh4848

No details how it counters drones as was seen in Ukraine against Russian tanks. I’m not convinced about effectiveness of its anti drone capability. In the future, we will see IDF try to accelerate counter drone systems as we’re seeing they don’t have effective answers to drones being used against their forces on Gaza by Hamas.

Recent RL testing has concluded that these are useless in urban combat.... without drones.

I do agree Israel needs drones……but after this war or actually based on real life do you really think Israel has a issue with urban warfare when they’ve fought this type of conflict for 40 years now? The more advanced systems and electronics does more to widen the already massive gap with Israel’s neighbors. It is hard to say if the Merkava is the best in the world. Not take anything away from this tank or the Israeli defense industry! Both are outstanding. Any Israeli tank only needs to function in the Mideast. However the US Abrams has to be able to fight in all climates and terrain environments. While the Merkava might be the best in desert conditions it most likely not be in cold climates or rainy conditions! The US tank assets have to be able to fight anywhere in the world while Israeli armor only in one set of conditions. Regardless Israel turns out outstanding military hardware. US companies and US military learns excellent ideas for US equipment.

And the Ukrainians and Russians are using Dji drones to drop grenades since the war beginning. I think the Dji drone can absolutely be called a little bomber.

The problem is that the Merkava is a defensive tank, it was designed for Israeli conditions only, not more, and it is the best there, but in terms of global intervention it is not so good, the Abrams is weaker in the Israeli rocky desert, but stronger in other areas, what the US can do, is to adapt the technology to it's tanks.

Markava design to protect from Stone

There is no “best tank in the world” anymore than there’s a “best aircraft in the world”.🙄 Different tanks serve different purposes. An M1 for example has far better acceleration and mobility, a Chally has more advance frontal turret armour, the Merkava is a fantastic defensive tank, and the unique rear compartment sets it apart. “Best tank” is thinking with the mentality of a child. 🙄

Not really its mobility , firepower have not been upgraded. Nor has tge base armour. This is a mk4 with better sensors and situational awareness. Other nations are upgrading their guns, power-plants and armour as well as their situational awareness. Thake Challenger 3 as an example....

how strong the tanks gun is less effective as they get stronger, how well can the tank support the crew during intense combat is inarguebly crucial, and this type of sensory systems are just ahead of the current game. if its the most "advanced" or "best" in the world is a whole different question, for the IDF in israel/ palestine/ southern lebanon the main regions of operations its probably the best, but put it in a varied range of land like the US operates cross-continentally or even russia with massive variation your tanks have to be alot more generilzed its just an advantage the IDF and its contractors have by having a decently small variation in geography. so it is the best for what it does(most likely), but it doesnt mean that the lets say M1 abrams is not the best for what IT does.

It’s “horses for courses”. Israel does not sell its tanks overseas like e.g. the USA and other countries. Therefore Israel has designed a tank for the IDF as it’s only customer. It also suits the way Israeli armour operates, which may not be the same as Russia, China, USA or other nations. The role of the MBT has evolved too. Unmanned vehicles are already taking over tasks once carried out by manned vehicles.

No way this is the world's best tank. As far as super heavies go, US M1 is still number 1. Especially when you look at those both currently in service & in serial production. Another factor is M1 is basically never scraped. They get brought back in, essentially stripped down, and rebuilt to most recent upgraded version, genius!

as the other guy said, the entire region where israeli tanks are actually used is tiny in comparison to the region american tanks are used so its highly specialized to the IDF unit structure(which it self is specialized for the region) and to where these unites operate, which lets it be just better at what it does, most top-10 tanks can learn things from other top-10 tanks, and israel/ america have been great buddies when it comes to weaponry development(like arrow(hetz), and some other stuff).

I have no idea which tank is the best overall. But one thing I do know is I’ve seen KZread videos declaring, at least, 5 tanks “the best.” It’s just like religion… with about 3000 religions worldwide, the atheist simply believes in one less than the most religious person.

Electronics can and DO fail. It then comes down to Mk 1 eyeball, binoculars and paper maps (with skills to use those). Id like to see AI half track a MBT

It was never destroyed by an rpg- in fact there were some recorded hits but the trophy launcher was turned off and closed so that means not thing about the tank.

I know what are you talking about, but it wasn't an rpg, what I meant is that most of the lost tanks(5-7 tanks) were destroying during a surprise attack, when the trophy system was closed, and turned off, so they managed to hit the IDF tanks with RPG's but there weren't MK.4 baraks between the disabled and destroyed tanks.@@meraz69

sliced in half is a wrong term here, it exploded it. and thats really not the tanks fault its the IDF's intelligence fuck-up, no tank currently can act automatically to drones. also its not the same tank, the tanks on the border are not baraks they're MK4 M4s i believe. and before you "cope harder western me" think about if it achievs anything? youre just outing yourself as a person who is not intelectually capable enough for formulating a real response lol.
