Israel orders residents in Rafah to evacuate immediately: what next? | LBC analysis
LBC's Natasha Devon speaks to Omar Shakir from the Human Rights Watch about what the consequences of a Rafah invasion will be people for the people of Gaza.
It comes after Israel ordered more residents to leave Rafah as it prepares to ramp up military action in the region.
The IDF said it is expanding its operation and moving into an area in northern Gaza where Hamas has regrouped.
There have been heavy clashes between Israeli troops and Palestinian militants on the outskirts of Rafah, leaving crucial nearby aid crossings inaccessible and forcing more than 110,000 people to flee north.
IDF spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, told people to leave for the “expanded humanitarian area” in Al-Mawasi “immediately” on Saturday.

It's not self-defence, defence only occurs inside your own borders, anything outside your own borders is classed as offensive/attack & defence should always be proportional, what's happening in Gaza is far from proportional.

In 2018 Israeli soldiers shot over 6,000 Palestinians. In many cases they were shot with illegal expanding ammunition. So, did the present iteration of this problem begin on 7th October 2023 (1,200 casualties) or March/Dec 2018 (6,000 casualties) Discus ??

I assume that by asking me to state my evidence you are hoping that other readers will infer that my post is unsubstantiated. I find it difficult to believe that you were incapable of finding the reports yourself on the internet.

They have been given a special status amongst all other refugees for the last 75 years to be victims. And now we have possibly only a few original displaced refugees from the foundation of Israel but because the UN has never closed UNRWA this victim status has been passed down from generation to generation. Under this logic and Irish potato famine refugee should be able to claim reparations from the British government.

The IDF has expanded the humanitarian area in Al-Mawasi to accommodate the increased levels of aid flowing into Gaza. This expanded humanitarian area includes field hospitals, tents and increased amounts of food, water, medication and additional supplies. In accordance with the approval of the government, an ongoing situation assessment will guide the gradual movement of civilians in the specified areas in eastern Rafah, to the humanitarian area. Calls to temporarily move to the humanitarian area will be conveyed through flyers, SMS messages, phone calls and media broadcasts in arabic. This was reported by Aljeezera, and notified on X.
