Ispring Electronic Descaler Review

Install and 2 year review. Great reviews on Amazon... Didn’t really work all that well for us. Mediocre results.

If you have too much iron in the water (> .3ppm), the descaler is not going to work well. They do say that in the product information. A combination of a filter that removes iron first, then a descaler may be the way to go. Also, the pipe should be 1" in diameter, not sure what thickness you have there. Another thing is the direction of the water flow and the coils, but I think you got that part right.

Curious… did you measure iron levels first? I have read that descalers do not work when the iron is above 0.3ppm as it blocks the binding process. So adding the descaler after your iron filter may work better?

Will install this today at our house, we also own an iSpring 3-Stage whole house water filter. I'm hoping that this combo will do the trick. We have insane amounts of calcium in our region and its well water that we have. Would this Electronic Descaler go before the water filter?

If I remember correctly, this is suppose to be installed within 50-75’ of faucet. It temporarily magnetically bond the elements so they are less likely to stick. Not sure where your filter is, but I would put it after filter and close to the outlet faucet.

Interesting, my application is a condo in Lakeside, CA, hard water part of San Diego county - condo's built as apartments with large boilers providing water to the wings - so I have a 4 gallon electric eccotemp water heater, with the "hot" water from the condo going into the "cold" side of the water heater, and the "hotter" boosted hot water coming out from the hot side, supplying kitchen faucet, dishwasher, front load washer. I turn this off when not needed, and get a lot of scale, servicing water heater about every 6 months, cleaning, replacing anode rod. I have been told kind of static electricity may be causing this, my inside plumbing connections is metal pipe, with sections being stainless steel flexible lines - so thinking maybe this causing a "grounding" problem? This is plugged into a grounded outlet, tester shows outlet working properly. Was considering installing a Clearwave electronic conditioner, similar to the ispring, which seems to help somewhat in other parts of the condo, but nipples on water heater are plastic - was looking at scale water filters to install near the countertop water heater, but temperature rating of scale water filter needs to be able to handle the sometimes hot water from the central boiler which is plumbed into the "cold" side of the countertop water heater. I have been told perhaps the scale I am getting is from the rest of the buildings plumbing, and perhaps not FROM the countertop unit, but it sure seems to build up a lot of scale in only about 6 months time. I do have a clearwave unit installed near the kitchen sink where the water enters the condo at. I do turn the hot water heater on the counter OFF quite a bit, as when I leave the condo, or when the outside temp is very hot, and it is not needed, and of course it only turns on if the water entering the unit is cold enough to be needed. Thoughts?

It's good that you have been able to improve your water, we're on chalk so our water is super hard, but as a rental we can't do anything about it

I grew up on hard water and prefer it to soft, but it is hard on water heaters and pipes. And the lime scale is super annoying. 😊 Maybe your landlord wouldn’t care if you put an in-line filter like that in. -Robert

Does it reduce the limescale spot on shower glass door? I have Aquasana whole house filtration system...it reduces the scales but still shown spot on the shower glass door...I hope this might help to reduce further the limescale specifically on the shower glass door

@@TheOregonTale I just installed the H2Oelitelab Descaler. I will continue checking everywhere for the next 3 weeks to see if the limescale will be reduced by this electronic descaler as advertised, otherwise, by the 29th day of this Amazon order, it will be returned to the Amazon! It's being installed after my Aquasana Whole House Water Filtration System. My whole house filtration system is already reducing a bits of scale but not much as scales being spotted on the shower glass door. This electronic if it does as advertised will be contributing additional reduction in scales on my shower glass door in next 3 weeks - IN HOPE :) LoL . Otherwise back to Amazon it's gone! it is $139 - not cheap!

Roughly, I have to replace my water heater elements every 10 months without adding salt for my salt softener. Sounds like this type of products can only make it every 10.5 month or something like that. Not much usage for me?

Electromagnetic descaler doesn't remove any minerals. It just prevents Lime-water from clogging and killing appliances. You were bound to get spots on your car and bathroom.

that looks like a pvc or plastic pipe, i think it should be installed on metallic (electric conducting) pipes.

Yes it is Pex piping. Per their description, it says it works on Pex and PVC pipes. I would imagine that it works best on a copper pipe though.

Hi David. We went with Water Express PHO filters. They worked a little bit as well, but still not quite enough. I am probably going to have to go with the tried and true water softener system. 😕 Got a quote, quickly decided I will just do it myself with an amazon kit. Looking at possibly doing that this fall. -Robert

@@TheOregonTale one of the problems with conventional water softener systems is the amount of salt they put into the water, in your home, and in the rivers and such - some report being able to use much less sale when the electronic water systems are used as well.
