We have a similar snake oil device in the basement since the early 90s because my dad believed if there is a PATENT on something, it must work. The only way to cope with people who sell these devices is take Tipler, Physics and hit them on the head with it. If you can that X-rayed, this would be interesting. I guess we will find an old police siren soldering kit from Conrad Electronic.

Reminds me of those Fuel savers that don't work. These devices are a scam and people only ever believe they work because of how much they payed for it.

I built one of those and now my water comes out in all the colors of the rainbow... But then I figured out that I can use an ordinary amplifier instead and fed some Justin Bieber into the coils... the water instantly turned into a brown looking sludge and smelled horrible... I guess it actually works... :-)

Lorenz force does not work on neutral water molecules, in the case of a perpendicular magnetic field it might kick anions and cations into slightly different angles, but at the low velocity and distance of travel inside the magnetic field there cannot plausibly be any effect more then a couple of mm from the device. And with a circular coil around the pipe the magnetic field is in the direction of flow and could not affect the traveling ions at all.

That's why I wrote "assuming the water contains electric charges". I know this is technically not correct, but if you replace "charges" with "ions".... that's what I meant. Although through the movement of the water in a magnetic field, eddy-currents could be formed. But I doubt this will do any difference.

Simple! Just look around and find something that annoys you every day. Then build something and claim it to be the solution. Or even better if you look for something people are afraid of like mobile phone "radiation"...

Great work. So many scams around. The portable electric space heater from Fischer was sold to a customer of mine for over £2000 and is essentially a heating element with bricks on castors with a remote control claiming to save electricity as it acted like a storage heater evening out the heat output. They got my comments deleted as I wasn't the customer.

I just looked at the Fischer website and the products don't seem to be a scam. But selling one of these for £2000 is very much overpriced. A storage heater can indeed save some cost by heating it up at low energy cost (at night) and using the heat during the day. I lived in a house with such a system but is was an enormous container full of bricks that could hold heat for at least 24 hours. And I don't know if every country has such high and low price phases....

Weeeeee wooooo... Weeeeee wooooo... Wee woo! Wee woo! Wee woo! Clean Water!

Thank you for sharing and for your clever and neat approach to try to demystify this old doubtful devices. 40 years ago I could teardown one that was sold at those astronomous prices and found a cheapo 555 oscillator and a bunch of discrete components. LOL I imagine that as an electronician you probably have a clue on how this FM wave generator is working. Probably a simple siren circuit. If you still have it laying around and are curious to sneak peek inside you could test different methods to destroy the potting resin. I found two different methods working on differet resin. The heatgun or carpet glue removal paste sold in DIY shops. Or even paint removal paste. Enjoyed your video. Cheers *EDIT I just found your next video ;-)

The potting screams like they want to hide something. Either its some kind of alien technology... or they are just embarrassed... of their 2000$ NE555 chirper I saw devices like this in a few catalogs (Conrad or so) back when I was younger and wondered if and how they really work and why they are not installed everywhere when they are sooo good, but I never thought of those again later... thanks for bringing them up (again) and clarify their "function" :)

The problem is that most people do not have a technical understanding of such things. They have to believe what the salesman says. How could they ever prove it's not working...?

I’ve been thinking of a way to Ionizing water. I was just going to run water through Permanent Magnetic field. Using a Tesla Turbine made from copper disks.... needless to say. I’m bored and glad to see a New Video from you. God Bless.

Depending on how the circuit board is potted, you might be able to dissolve the compound. There are a couple of different ways to do it - either mechanically or chemically. Might be an interesting little waste of time ;) Edit: The beige stuff (if it's hard) is often based on polyurethane. That means tetrahydrofuran, acetone or methyl ethyl ketone could do the trick. I think mg chemicals have something called a "conformal coating stripper" (either 8310 or 8312)

There is certainly a chemical that dissolves the potting. But then I fear it will dissolve more that it should, like chip cases or the PCB. I will try a mechanical solution like 10 days of Dremel-ing. :-)

@@PlaywithJunk Well, acetone would not dissolve chip cases or the PCB. It could dissolve some other plastic parts or wire insulation.

It is always an interesting topic... does it work or does it not? Years ago after I scrapped an old 5.25" IBM 62RW100 SCSI harddrive I had those neodimium magnets that were used for the head positioning (linear voicecoil...) that were unbelievably strong but had a shape not very suitable for use. So I decided to clamp them around the copper water main pipe entering the house and they are still there. Not that I noticed any change in limescale development, and of course I am not going to saw through the water pipes to see if there is limescale in them... At least this solution does not consume energy all the time (I neglect the enery used to originally produce the magnets). But of course it does not have that magic frequency sweep, it only has the change of field caused by the water flowing along the fixed magnets. On the other hand, the magnetic field is much much stronger. So if there is any effect, it should be better.

At least it will filter out any iron bits that might come across with the water... Since magnets were invented people think they are magic in some way. So they use it for almost everything, reasonable or not.

Nun ja, nichr alles was "Öko" gelabelt ist, ist schlecht, im Gegenteil. Aber leider gibt es auch einiges, dort wird mit Öko einfach nur Geschäft gemacht. Viele "Ökos" sind ja schon leichtgläubig oder technisch unerfahren...

It would be nice to have a 2nd unit, then you could see if wrapping both sets of coils around each other will blow them both UP - (shango066 EOL style :) Failing that, wrap the coils around a mains toroid and wind the Variac up, whilst watching the potting compound blister and spurt-out goodness! The effect could actually be something simple - mechanical vibrations could make it harder for lime and other crusty stuff to accumulate. Considering the sweep it does, the pipes might vibrate very slightly from it. As to the build quality - that's simply offensive.

flux field through a plastic pipe ....maybe. with a strong enough field ferrous metals might be affected....in a plastic pipe. what that would do to the water? fiik! help precipitate clumps for a filter to trap easier? similar device...those magnetic clamp on devices that you put on a fuel line that supposed "aligns" the molecules for better combustion....more bullshit methinks. thanks for the vid. i laughed a bunch.

I agree... but many people say the water tastes salty then. We have an ion exchanger and the water tastes normal. It's probably a question of maintenance and fine tuning
