@Emperor okay, so just try think like Cosimo... a person who burdened by toscana, a whole regions... he can just neglected the florence if he want but he don't.... If you're Contessina you can leave him... but she's not... why? Because if there's no contessina there's no Cossimo, if there's no cossimo, renaissance aren't started, if renaissance not started, well maybe you and me are just peasant who are really didn't have education and only eat bread and die in the plague without care in this time

today, for sure, but back then it was not so easy, leaving your husband was a crime, and she seemed very religious too, there was practicly no chance for a divorce as the only legit reason for divorce for a woman was infertility of the man, and they already had a child, and because of that, with leaving her husband, if she would have gotten away with it, she would have also left her family, her friends, the support of the church and her status. As he never abused her, I don't think this would have been worth it.

I would have been looking for some hemlock before the first anniversary. He wouldn't have had to wait to get exiled.

I have the book “ House of Medici “. Cosimo indeed loved Contessina , however, he had a hard time showing it. No question without Contessina he would have fallen apart. He loved her and needed her, no question.

Oh, how I love and adore Contessina. Annabel, once said she played the character as a Joan of Arc inspired woman. Annabel plays her so well, she is a strong woman for going through everything she did.

I think Contessina was the perfect match for Cosimo, he was just to stubborn to accept it

Contessina is such a beautiful women, inside and out. I was crying of disappointment when Cosimo treated her like that, just ignoring her love and devotion for him because of his pride, even going as far as humiliating her with his mistress. It made me so angry😭 I wished she had gone with her first love, but she even refused him because of Cosimo. She put her family first, which makes her such a strong and wonderful women. I wished Cosimo had shown her more affection, but oh well...

I love her ,not him.But things is not so simple.While he been in exile,she flirting with another.He told Maddalena in Venice that is married man.After her flirtation ,he then only sleep with another woman.He brought another woman in his house because wants to punish her.The rich mostly had mistresses he never before.After sex with Contessina he never more sleep with Madallena.If she had not flirted with another and he hadn't taken revenge on her,then his act would have been unforgivable.He is sadist,but deep inside he loves her.She is aware that.To him the mistress does not mean ,until he can bear the thought that his wife has another.

I haven't even watched the show but I know two things: 1. Cosimo is a trash husband 2. Contessia is an amazing badass

He for sure DID NOT deserve her. But ugh did they have really good chemistry together! It was so hard not to love them.

@P Mahisauria Don't need to cry. Plus at the end they seemed to be better together but life is complicated more in this age. She had to stay with her husband and family and he should have treated her better since she was an amazing wife and matriarch who did everything for her family like Cosimo did. That's why they had such chemistry and understood each other so well. But life is complicated and not that easy. And this show is so good because of this.

@@davidlopez6703 She would never have stay with him,if she not sure he loved her.He hurt her the most,He wanted revenge for her flirtation and because bringing another woman.After sex with her ,he never more looked at his mistress.He loves her on one sick and possesive way.Definitely he is not indifferent.

He made me so angry, treating her the way she did. It was horrific, and I’d have left 😡. Love the video and the edits!

Contessina was such an amazing character. Glad Annabel Schoely returned for season 2.

Their intimacy is very subtle. They communicate with gestures and looks a lot more than with words. I haven't seen such tension between a couple, one that's married no less, ever on screen. And that's what makes it utterly compelling.

This actress is utterly beautiful and her portrayal is so intense and dignified. Loved her so much!

A man as brilliant as Cosimo deserves the world and he definitely deserves a woman like Contessina, as much as it hurts to love him and how incredibly frustrating it is to live with him. I feel sorry for her and relate to her so much, because Cosimo reminds me a lot of my man at home (without the wealth, power, adultery and murder, lol).

I absolutely love this edit! Really hoping to watch Medici soon - it looks like an amazing series.

In his eyes, when she saved him and sent him into exile she basically ruined any chance of his family changing Florence into his vision. He went away very angry at her and punished her disobeyence and what he considered foolishness by not taking her with the family. Then, in Venice we was probably given information that she had something with Ezio, her first love, while he rejected the slave girl for days and only took pity on her at first. I think he gave in to Maddalena in the end because he thought Contessina had already cheated on him and he brought the slave girl with him to punish her more. After he finally let Contessina back into his bed and heart, he never looked at Maddalena again. He's not the devil everyone portrays him to be.

I have seen many girls in the comment saying that they would have left him. Yeah...That’s what a normal girl would have done but contessina was more than that. She was an incredible woman who put her family first and still had some kind of hope in Cosimo. At least this is how she is portrayed in the show. Who knows how she was in real life

He was with another woman to take revenge on her for flirting with her first love.After her words that she stayed because of him ,after sex with wife,he never more sleep with mistress.He chose his wife . Contessina is aware that he loves her on stange way,and that he is sexually attracted her than mistress ,that's why she stayed,not was she is victim .Her departure would only have sense,if he were indifferent ,but he is not .

No, it's a real name and Contessina de Bardi was a real person (and was not the only one with this name in the De Medici family)
