This fight is going to be so much more competitive than anyone is giving it credit for. Volk is short, stocky, and still has a reach advantage over Islam. I can tell you exactly how he deals with him. Volkanovski is bulking which means his striking will be much slower, and his cardio will be worse. Islam will either catch one of his leg kicks and put him on his back or Islam will hold him against the cage to tire him out and then take him down. This is the worst matchup volk. This is the biggest mistake of his career. A stand up fighter vs an elite grappler almost always ends up bad for the striker. I got Islam by submission round 1

I really don't see it going past the first round. I said Islam was gonna own Oliveira and I believe this fight will be easier for Islam then the Oliveira fight.

@@tupacwallace3113 Volkanovski does have the reach advantage and probably speed , I don't want to speculate I'm analyzing it stylistically, Volkanovski's footwork and speed would be his main weapons alongside that incredible fight iq but even with all of that Islam's the nightmare matchup for Volk , And you made a great point with Oliveira being a harder matchup for Islam than Volk because Oliveira is statistically the most dangerous fighter in UFC.

Nah Volk is just confident, and you should watch more of him, you'll see he's putting in the work and that's where his confidence comes from. I still think Islam wins it though, but with the work and mindset Volk is displaying it's hard not to believe he has a good chance, watch some of his more recent clips. And it's not about being scared, you're using the incorrect terminology, it's about being pragmatic. Being humble enough to objectively see where you are weaker than your opponent and where your opponent is stronger than you, and then working to close that gap. That's the work Volk is putting in.

@@mrannymus islam is going to have more issues with volks speed and footwork than volk is about being taken down.. he wont get tired of getting back up and islam isn't going to have the control on top against a pocket rocket like volk

Makhachev chokes him out imho. Not sure whether he is putting on a show for the media, but he does seem way too relaxed about the fight. Going to be one hell of a fight though.

volk will do much better than charles against islam and will survive until round 3 or 4 after that he's getting chocked out and put to sleep

Feels like a win win for Alex, i don't feel like a loss to Islam would affect his stock much.

I think that you have a major problem with striking and if it was going to be striking only you definitely lose. You are very good wrestler but I find that you are condescending too much and it borders on lack of respect. If you lose this you will be not only humbled but you will be humiliated. Alexander is going to be celebrated win, lose or draw.

Islam didn't smoke him, aside from the knockdown. Oliveira was fairly competitive on the feet if you watch the exchanges, especially the knee exchanges in the clinches.

Gotta disagree. I think Charles has more versatility in what he throws and more likely to land a finishing shot bc of how he fights but that's where it ends. Volks movement, IQ, and defense on the feet is a lot more layered. If someone gets decked and falls to the ground 4 fights in a row from 4 different opponents, I dont see how you could say their striking is better
