People let’s not forget that Chael gave away a light heavyweight belt in order to save Jones from having his toe permanently detach. All Chael had to do was remain focused and in between rounds point out Jons toe was 90% detached and Chael would have won by TKO. However Chael was such a sportsman he quit focusing on the fight to alert the Ref. Jon took full advantage of this and proceeded as a bad sportsman and the rest is history

People don't realize how insanely good Arman is himself, he was on the same card today and finished yoel brutally in the second round. It would be no surprise if Arman rises to nr.1-3 spot and challenges the title after Islam is champ.

I knew Islam was legit & never had a doubt about it but seeing him throw that switch kick 5 seconds into the fight I couldn’t help but think about how scary his potential is.. he’s literally Khabib 2.0. Oli could potentially catch him in a submission but I just don’t see it happening.

@BrewMaster MMA came about as pitting different styles against each other, not that one fighter must use different styles. As the game evolved and fighters realised they had holes in their game, they added to their game. But if one style gets you the win then you're above the competition.

Based on Justin's performance against Khabib, even though it's been over a year since they fought, he has absolutely no chance if Islam gets his hands on him. Oliveira has the best chance until you brought up the excellent point about staying on the bottom. If that doesn't lose the fight for Oliveira by tap out, he will lose by decision if he does that.

Islam is EXACTLY the guy we thought. A lot of media members were throwing out the idea that Green could win this fight, but it was clearly to make noise and for clickbait. Any true MMA fan knew what Bobby was walking into. Respect to Bobby, he's a great fighter but Islam is the REAL DEAL.

I don't know about this take on Team Khabib's wrestling being limited to getting their opponents against the fence. I agree that their go-to is to pin their opponents against the fence, but I think this has more to do with preference and effectiveness than an inability to wrestle away from the fence. Makhachev's fight with Tsarukyan showed phenomenal grappling on and off the fence. Also, most of the fighters in Team Khabib (Makhachev included) have a background in Combat Sambo, where fights occur on an open mat without any fences.

I clicked just to hear Chael say: "Mackleshev"

Would be intriguing to see how Olivera would deal with being put on his back by Islam. He'd likely have less resistance submitting Gaethje because of what we've seen with the Khabib fight.

Oliveira likely gets ground and pounded. I hope Gaethje fights Islam and brings his old violent style. Islam doesn't have Khabib's cardio and chin so Gaethje should just go forward no matter what instead of the cautious tap dancing he did against Khabib.

The fact of the matter is no one wants to fight Islam. The top 10 fighters talk shxt about Islam saying he ain’t fought no nobody but none of them want to get in the cage. Islam had 4 fighters deny him before Bobby accepted, Bobby is a true warrior.

This is so true. Wrestlers are so used to constant pressure that they often rely on it. GSP predates the Dagestanis a master of fence takedown. He would set up a traditional takedown, fail but push against the fence, then finish against the fence. Kahbib had low takedown success in the middle of ring ..but he would often use a traditional takedown attempt to set up push against fence to finish.

Takedowns are not like striking. you can't be one jab and done, it's always gonna be a pressure game and these Dagestanis know people can't handle it. Heck even bears might be having a tough time in Dagistan

Oliviera vs Machachev is a great fight to be made but also there’s benny and Justin in there as well like boxing had hagler, Duran , sugar ray and hearn UFC could really make this division have a classic run of fights with all these guys

I feel like how gd good Islam is is what makes it a little boring. We know he can do this and he just goes out and does it. He's soooo good that there isn't anyone that can challenge his grappling and wrestling plain and simple so it feels like these guys fighting him like Hooker and Bobby or fill in the blank are exciting fighters getting there asses handed to them but it's still exact what we expect everytime.

Islam and Khabib are so good that you have to go back and rewatch just to start to see what's happening. There are levels to this sport

The fence is a preferred plan, but Khabib also had that low ass single where he dived for the ankle. There's a lot of things to worry about when fighting a guy that has Khabibi's type of wrestling approach. Islam will catch a kick and push the guy to the fence. So the fighter ought not to kick either; which is a go to plan for strikers who fight grapplers. Khabib also caught kicks and turned them into TDs without the fence involved. The margin of error is too small. It's like fighting the perfect fight.

Bobby did use nasty, swinging elbows from his back which is more than we can say about any other fighter. He seemed to regret it tho. Dagestanies must be kettlebellers, Bobby showed a unique get out the bottom strategy, but the bull ox strength wasn’t there. That’s the beginning if what it will take to beat Islam. Having hydraulic legs, boat rope abs, and straight arm bone density.

We learned about the double leg sweeps in this ufc. The past year, its been about locking your hands around the legs for a definite takedown instead of legging except we saw the double leg trip the fight before.

If Aldo and GSP had had the same road to the initial title shot that Khabib and Islam had, I doubt they would have even made it. to chael's point, there's a practical reason to wrestling against the cage. when you're wrestling out in the open, for example chandler vs gaethje, if one person shoots the other person has an escape. when islam is holding someone against the cage, he's making his opponent react to his offense, so there is no countering

I can't wait to see him against Oliveira. The best of Sambo vs the best of BJJ. Everyone is counting Charles out but I don't know. I really don't know.Charles is dangerous. Anyone who's won 10 in a row all but one a stoppage? Now Islam vs Justin is interesting because in a way it will be the first time someone got to fight Khabib twice to see if he learned something in the first fight he could use in the second. Are you kidding? Khamzat is fighting Burns. Islam was gonna fight Dariush until Dariush got injured. Yes some top guys tried to dodge them but without a doubt there is some tough guys who will take these guys head on. Dan Hooker literally stepped up against Islam on short notice. With Khamzat, we all knew he would fight anyone, and many guys stepped up. UFC just played games until they released that he is fighting Burns.

@Bill Stevens Du Bronx will need to rely on his bjj because he ain't stuffing those takedowns. As you may know, Khabib was overwhelming powerful when he handled his opponents. Islam is the same with better striking so the fight will defo be won on the ground. Du Bronx is not known for his wrestling so how can he handle that pressure? He can take a punch but what happens when he's rag dolled and gassed out? He hasn't fought anyone like Islam so he better be drilling those submissions.
