@@lachlanm7149 While in pure striking, Alex is superior, you're naive if you don't think Islam has the skills to hurt Alex standing. The guy easily dropped Charles and Charles easily dropped both Chandler and Gaethje, two of the biggest hitters at 155. Islam could EASILY hurt Alex, too, while standing. And being 5 inches shorter than Islam, Alex is exceptionally susceptible to Islam's Muay Thai kicks, both body and head. In fact, more likely than not, Islam will hurt Alex standing before he takes him down (like the Charles situation). Without being hurt, or without foolishly engaging in a clinch struggle against Islam, Alex is NOT going to be easy to take down, due to his strength, lower center of gravity, superior agility, and well roundedness. And he doesn't run at people like Charles.

This fights gunna be insane as long as it goes on

Israel should take notes from Islam. Work more on your weaknesses. Islam is already the best grappler in LW and can school anyone. He needs to up his striking. Anyone else is still miles behind him in grappling. Israel is already top2 in striking (previously no.1 undisputed). He should put a lot more focus on ground game. If he did that more over the years he would have had the pereira fight in the bag. Granted his striking may have suffered a little bit over the years, but he was smashing through the whole division anyway. In retrospect he should've improved his grappling way more by now.

i think his grappling is more defensive hes worked on only defense watch how easily he gets up from Roberts take downs and how easily he defends them watxh how he gets out of a sub from vettori hes only working defence if he works on his offence and starts shooting take downs he’s a bigger problem because he’s have guys thinking about the take down and that would open up his striking even more

After Leon, Islam has the second most fluid Muay Thai movements. But Islam also incorporates tons of good head/upper body movements: bobbing, weaving, back and forth, left and right movements. Charles has very deadly Muay Thai, too; but he lacks the upper body movements/boxing movements Islam has. So Charles Muay Thai is very awkward... but again very effective, too, if you don't know how to do stand-up and you go up against Charles. I've watched Muay Thai since I was a little boy in Thailand... and very few MMA fighter could kick, use knees or elbows as smoothly as Islam... again, after Leon Edwards. If you watch Muay Thai, elbows (direct or from spinning) are a huge part of the game. That means if you're considered a good Muay Thai fighter, even in MMA, you have very good elbow work, knees, and kicks (leg, body, and head kids: all of which Islam has). Islam is more than "just a wrestler." For example, while there is almost little to zero chance Khabib would take your head off with a kick, Islam could EASILY do that, in every fight... even against elite strikers... if you're not mindful & keep your hands high by your head...

They needed it. These Dagestani fighters have superb wrestling but shit standup. Khabib has the gift of chin, that's why he's able to be so successful. Other dagestanis won't be so fortunate so they have to develop a decent standup game.

No one ever likely will defeat Alex at 145, due to his speed, agility, strength, and well roundedness. But at 5'6"... even with very exceptional arms reach, he's just not big enough to deal with the likes of Charles, Islam, and the other upcoming guys at 155. Pointing it out that Alex used to weight 500 pounds and rolled around like a pumpkin isn't relevent to discussing his optimal, elite MMA fight at 145. Anyway, if this was a pure kickboxing match between Islam and Alex, I put my money on Alex; but alas!, in MMA, Alex just doesn't have too many ways to win, beyond a one-punch KO against the most difficult to hit-cleanly-guy at the UFC... a guy every arm extending you do MAY be your last because he could be clinching up and taking you down.... Alex looked so invincibly good against guys like Max, the Zombie, Brian et al because none of those guys could wrestle and NONE of them has the physicality Islam has, to say nothing about Islam's next level wrestling, BJJ, and Judo plus elite Muay Thai skills...
