When I was a kid Christianity was the only religion taught in schools and that is how it should have remained. This country would then have remained a decent place to live.

Nonsense, any religion is readily used to inculcate and indoctrinate children with absurd ideas and fairy tales that belong to the dawn of time. The most decent countries to live in are secular ones. Teach religion as a subject, not a faith, when children are old enough to comprehend the world and their place in it. Christianity went down the pan decades ago in the UK, now islam rears its ugly head and is a huge threat to a stable society. Vis a vis, look at islamic countries, constantly at war with one another, produce nothing but trouble, and as for christianity, look at how it has torn Itrelan apart for centuries. Keep nonsensical faith out of schools at all costs.

We can say Islam is not the religion of this country now, but if we keep current immigration trends and birth rates trends, that won't the be the case in as little as 40 years time. We're still underestimating how aggressively Islam wants to spread, and how patient those who spread it are, and crucially, how once a majority is achieved, how democracy can be used to usher Sharia in. They're playing the long-game, and while we keep flagellating ourselves over history, we're losing ground. Luton is now 32.9% Islamic. Tower Hamlets is 39.9% Blackburn and Darwen 35% Bradford is 30.5%. The list goes on, and on. If people want their kids, and their grandkids to avoid having to live in an Islamic country, they'd better change their voting habits pretty sharpish.

I've never known a time like this - bomb threats in PRIMARY schools, teachers in hiding, absolute unhinged HATRED and bitterness. Most of my school days started with prayer and assembly. But it was Christian prayer. We never experienced what we are experiencing now. When you import people en masse from other cultures with different values, this is the result.

@@rb1062 because we have broken political and financial systems, which are exacerbating the divide between rich and poor. When there is more relative poverty, in any nation, crime rate goes up. Also, a lot of the violence is alcohol/substance abuse related (we are a binge drinking country after all, probably the worst in europe); the police have less funding and are stretched further than ever before. Not to mention a decrease in parental guidance and higher divorce rates/ deterioration of the nuclear family, both of which are good predictors of a child's future risk of criminal behaviour. None of these things are caused by a religion

@@ma.6028 Really?? But all these events are happening in areas with high immigrant populations - East London, Batley, Bradford. Perhaps they are all binge drinkers and drug takers! I've been alive quite a few decades and have been hearing the "not enough funding" for years and years. How much money must you have to throw at a problem?? If a school allowed religions to be a part of school daily work. What time would be left for the curriculum?

We are a Christian country why should we bow to the Islamic faith if these people do not like our culture and our values then go and live in a country that suits your culture. We are not only talking about one school there are more schools where Islamic parents are chanting outside to the point where the school is saying they are going to have to close. What can you expect when we don’t even know who is in our country. Our schools cannot even fly a Union Jack or sing our National Anthem anymore we used to be proud to be British now we are made to feel we are stranger in our own country.

I'm really fed up of this religion, I didn't have a particular opinion 15/20 years ago, but now I'm sick of hearing about the constant complaints & demands of this community.

Same with diverse people from Afro-Caribbean descent, Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists. On the whole we are largely welcoming and relatively easy to integrate with and these communities have proudly kept their own identity whilst adopting our values and culture. They have enhanced our own way of life. The only demand I can think of from any of these groups on us is being allowed to wear a turban on a motorbike ! What a difference.

Or they should go back to the Muslim country from which they came, because they'll want to continue their prayers when they get into work. I had numerous temp security guards working iny shop who had to leave the shop floor to go and pray, on top of their breaks, this isn't a Muslim wife thing I had one permanent security guard who too was Muslim, from Pakistan, he didn't go and pray, he was actually a great guy. It's those who refuse to integrate they don't want to be British, they don't want to live under our common law system of government and values, they do harm to us and they do harm to other Muslims who came here to enjoy freedom... that's the irony when lefties bang on about islamophobia, the biggest pushers of Islamophobia are the very people p who claim they're victims of it while threatening and intimidating muslims who want to integrate. If people don't want to integrate they should be deported, simple as that. Deport them on the ground sof treason. They're the ONLY group who have moved here who behave this way, yes we may have the odd issue with a Hindu here and there, or the odd Buddhist, but by and large said groups have integrated and do not demand we change to suit them. Especially as the key criteria which has likely helped it achieve that status is the lack of pandering to various ideological beliefs which get in the way time and time again of education and learning - particularly for kids who aren't religious at all. Quite simply, if you haven't put in enough effort to check the school will be sufficient for your child before sending them there - that's not the schools problem. Plenty of non religious parents for example used to try sending their kids to catholic schools that had excellent educational standards - and actually used to pretend they were catholic for the sheer privilege of getting in. Yet now when religious parents send their kids to public or secular schools they have the audacity to expect the school to accommodate them and their kids while fully being able to check if the school is suitable before sending their child in the first place. You don't get to go to schools with good educational ratings and try to change them for your individual needs - they're successful as they have clearly learnt what works for their students and hence have skills above what the majority of student parents have themselves. Therefore if you have a strict religion, go to a faith school or if you do go to a non religious school it's you who needs to adapt to their rules not the other way around. If religious communities can't respect the beliefs of other people which are just as valid as their own - then let's simply take all forms of belief out of non faith schools bar from religious education lessons. If you can't handle a privilege responsibly then you should lose it simply put - I see a lot of things which are "against a religion" yet religious communities simply pick and choose which they follow and are beneficial to them.

You cant effectively ban Islam without getting rid of the believers themselves. For a law is just a sentence on a piece of paper. Islam is a conquering ideology. A petty sentence on a piece of paper wont deter them from spreading "peace" throughout the country. Islam lives in the minds and hearts of the people who believe in it. A law wont change that fact. These people have shown not to respect the law of the land. The only true solution is to deport all Muslims. Religion, such as morning prayers and Christmas nativity plays was never a problem in schools until some weak-minded headteacher decided to ban them so as " not to offend " Muslims. There have been many other different religions in British schools for generations which didn't take offence at those Christian celebrations. I still say this has been implemented all these changes to grow and take over. The young people fresh out of university are radicalised in a certain way too. Not only should the Union Jack flag be in all schools, also in England, the George cross and in Scotland and Wales their flags with a backdrop of the Union Jack. We need to reclaim our flags from the haters. It may take a long time but I think ultimately this will introduce a much needed cohesiveness within the UK. Liverpool police just arrested a man for waving a union flag yet the supporters of islam were waving their flag just 10 yards away.

When i was in school I the 90s and early 00s we had Rligious Education, and it was what it should be, they tell you about the worlds religions without trying to indoctrinate you, Christianity and Islam were learnt about along side all of the others like the Greek pantheon and the poetic edda.

Samara seems to be a very sensible young woman. Unlike Andy who spouts a lot of nonsense.

My Father and Grandfather fought for the freedoms that we now enjoy in the UK. If we are not careful we will slowly lose what they fought for

Please no faith schools for religion - they have Madrassas and mosques already. There was a documentary which identifies concern about what is currently being preached in mosques also.

It is absolutely disgraceful that Muslim people want to change the education system in Our country to reflect their religious beliefs. Schools closed, Teachers intimidated, at least one teacher forced into hiding in fear of their life because Muslims parents got upset.

How many Christian schools are there in Iran or Saudi Arabia? Let’s be honest, why are we oppressing our traditions, beliefs and western way of life for a particular incompatible culture or way of life? The difference between us and the Middle East is freedom of speech.

Most of these countries in the Middle East have private schools for the younger children of expatriate families living and working there. It's very common and in many cases Christianity is on the curriculum. The British embassy often runs them.

Only Christianity should be taught and celebrated in a Christian nation. It was when I was a kid and we loved it, the whole school played a part and it was always a great time and great memories ❤️. Now it's all division and hatred in the direction of the Christian Natives.

Why is it always a certain demographic that demands that every country they settle into that the indigenous population follows their culture and religion

I agree we have to show people coming to this country who we are and that we are proud of who we are we can't let the people that move here walk all over us and take over. Some areas in the UK are like being in another country it's as though these areas are not our country any more.

This shouldn't even be an issue and should be thrown out by the courts. There are a vast array of schools catering to all kids depending on their needs and wants.

The Union Jack is only flown on ships , it is the Union Flag which is the flag of the UK and is flown on land.

Patriotism is treated like a disease- the national anthem used to be played all over the place when I was a kid even at the cinema after the film - we’ve become a very diluted version of the old country. Proud British is almost an oxymoron.

How funny that no one bats an eye when a kid has crucifix jewellery but as soon as someone identifies as muslim you all want to get your pitchforks out.

I am now 70 years and I am the eldest of five children and I went to a Roman Catholic school, whereas my two younger sisters went to a state school. At the state school, they did special catering needs for the Jewish who sat on one side with the Christians on the other side, and there was absolutely no conflict no objections. It just worked so well and I cannot understand why it can’t be done with the Muslims without the need to ban Christianity to accommodate Muslims. I don’t get it?

I really admire Katherine Birbalsingh as a Head teacher, we need more Heads to stand up against the movement to remove our customs and beliefs. However, Katherine's removal of religion altogether is not at all helpful, we are a Christian country and our Christian standards and beliefs should be protected.

Wrong. Christianity is a cult like Islam. It also has historical blood on its hands. Faith is the opposite of education. Faith kills the enquiring mind by teaching us to just accept outlandish untested 'facts' sold as 'revelations'. Non-Christians and non-Muslims all over the world know how to behave and love each other.

Maybe the British Christians should have been standing up for the faith. But of course, those values are about tolerance and love, not forcing and pushing and making threats like Islamists.

They should definately put the Union Jack in all classrooms. I love that about America. In India the India flag is everywhere and people respect the nation just more. In this country we don’t show any love for the country. Flag would help. Educate kids that they are British and make them proud of it.

Protests here in Aberdeen police looked on whilst they shouted from the river to the sea. I challenged the police they were indignant and stood slumped against their van with hands in their pockets 😢

Just imagine if a Christian family tried to force an inner city school to follow the liturgical calendar and have Christian prayer before meals or honouring saints, or fasting during lent etc.,..

I recall years ago a English headmaster in a school in Bradford complained that English kids were falling behind in their education because of the Pakistani kids not being able to keep up with them. And a few weeks later he was told to resign or the school got rid of him because he upset the ethnic people of that area l think he refused to resign so they paid him off to get rid of him. If we give in to these demands by stopping religious education in our schools then we are giving our English heritage away again

We fly the st George flag in our market place on St George's day and the union flag the rest of the year. We are still a proper English village for now.
