One of Elaine’s biggest mistakes in this trial was letting Isaac pour his heart out when she asked if he was mad at Amber. She could have cut him off and said it was a yes or no question, non responsive, anything. A real turning point imo. You couldn’t ask for a more honest and credible witness. Not a single moment where he appeared evasive or misleading in any way.

I've heard from Virginia lawyers I respect that Elaine had a good reputation. I believe that this means she's good at settling civil suits- which involves depositions and writing motions. She's clearly a terrible trial attorney- and (judging by the unsealed docs, including emails) kind of a jerk. And because of her ego, she wanted to be The Lead Attorney, causing her team to work in silos. Amber had a full trial team, just like Johnny did. But they didn't work together, and Elaine even lushed other attorneys out. Even Camille said she felt bad for Elaine during Amber's redirect because no one helped her. If you watch the trial, Ben Chew worked more like a coach, happy to let the younger attorneys get the glory. The team worked together the entire time, pulling things up and sending notes to the attorney doing the questioning. It was quite beautiful to watch- and seemed like an extension of Depp himself.

I agree. Chew was like a gold medalist coach. His bite was definitely more dangerous than his bark, as the Heard team found out. Dennison was the highest ranking attorney on the team, and in her interview, Camille gave him credit for the initial strategy. Rebecca was the Unsung Hero too. Her skillful but quiet handling of direct, and her responses to objections seemed to earn the judge’s respect.

  • @Leonicles

@risingphoenix8072 YES, Rebecca was incredible! I rewatched some parts recently (I watched Emily D Baker when it was Live, so I've been enjoying other Lawtube streams). Rebecca is right there with Camille- arguing at the bench, writing notes, making sure everything went smoothly. And, in her quiet way, did a great job getting the best out of JD during his testimony. You're right about the "gold medal coach" comment. I really enjoy watching people at the top of their game- whether it's musicians, athletes or trials. I think that's why I keep coming back to this trial. Everytime I watch, I see something different, especially with how JD's team worked like a cohesive unit.

@@Leonicles I’m rewatching rebuttal as I write this 😂. Different channels have different focus, and I’ve enjoyed watching all the things I missed on the live, the audience, the expressions on the faces of attorneys when they are sitting at counsel table and not handling witnesses, the judge handling objections - she knew things we didn’t know, because she had seen and ruled on all of the sealed pre-trial motions. The judge knew Amber was lying before we did, but gave no hint - a genuine pro! I actually felt sorry for Rottenborn when the two Morgans came in, the expression on his face when he realized that yes, indeed, his client had lied to him about everything, even small things where her only motive was to smear Johnny and make him look as bad as possible This trial will be watched through the next generation.

Yes, all of her friends have gone by the wayside. Rocky and Josh wouldn't even come testify in person, so they had to use deposition testimony. Her makeup artist tried really hard not to testify at all here or in England. If they truly believed that Johnny was abusive, I think they would have gladly been there for her. Remember, Rocky and Josh had motive to lie for her when this happened. She told him that if he gave her the penthouses, the Range Rover, all expenses paid indefinitely, she wouldn't file for the TRO. She was extorting him, and they lied for her to continue living in luxury on his dime. As soon as that was off the table, they didn't want to lie for her anymore. I'm rewatching Isaac's testimony, and I can't remember if anyone showed up in person for her, but I don't think anyone did.

It's been ten months since I saw this the first time. But I still remember the disgusting belittling comments against Isaac's broken heart and emotional crying over what Amber did. If I were a juror, that would've done it for me. I had zero respect for her and I'm soooo happy Elaine suffered a humiliating defeat.

Yes! I wish Johnnys team had emphasized this timeline you describe! It left a door cracked open for Amber to argue that the cops were lying. But the jury made it clear through that one “win” for Amber ( + the amount of punitive damages) that they held Amber alone responsible. That her “friends” were no longer associated with her probably helped too. They were used. It wasn’t really a punishment for the statement, it was how the jury spoke on that one issue.

Isaac Baruch's testimony needs to be analyzed & studied in law schools from now until the end of time...for exactly how a character witness should do it. lol I've watched this at LEAST 30 times. He did make a couple of mistakes, but his honesty, charm & manner of speaking was done BRILLIANTLY

I'm a retired attorney. This guy was great and the most significant point is that he was well prepared but not well rehearsed. Sometimes you get really street smart and intelligent articulate witnesses who have that salt of the earth persona. Over preparation can ruin what would otherwise be very effective testimony. It took only five minutes to see that this guy was going to eat that inept attorney alive. She was way out of her depth and much more often than not seemed more concerned with making herself look good by winning every little verbal spat than protecting her client.

This loyal emotional friend of JD, Issac Baruch turned 50% into winning case, as he opened his heart out, in his normal way..... JD is indeed blessed and balanced with good, honest, loyal, trustworthy, reliable and of quality people, even though, they may be 10×poorer, but these 'above described characters' are worth fortune, which are not found everywhere and everyday ! JD stay happy with your 'family'!!! Good Thoughts Good Words Good Deeds 🙏🇨🇦🙏

Aside from being a great witness because he lived in Pent House 2, Isaac was a great witness because he clearly stated he liked Amber and especially her sister Whitney. He showed us her sense of humour. He almost made her human. This gave his account nuance and every bit of truth. It is so clear that he's a painter in the way he lays out his interactions and shows great emotion.
