I got Care Credit for my misdiagnosed GSP and it was 0% interest for first six months. I believe the Vets and credit companies prey on pet owners. They justify the absolutely outrageous prices by making credit readily available. The cost for services are sometimes more than they would be for a human which isn't right. Vets aren't liable for damages to your pet and if by some act of God they have to compensate some poor soul for killing their pet, it costs them pennies with minimal repercussions to the Vet. It's a corrupt business, ALL "healthcare" systems are.

I changed Vets. Then this happened! Went in Monday a week ago, for seasonal allergies. Dr. Prescribed Prednosone, 20 mg. Once a day for 5 days. Day 2, all is good, then day 3, she threw up at 5 Am. And for 11 hours she threw up! Soonest to get her in was 3:30 Pm. Well she threw up all the way, and in front of vet! Coffee grounds froth, and she said she has perverted stomach lining!! Just 2 pills did that! She is Allergic evidently. Well now we hope she heals!! No money, they care not!! Had a wonderful Vet in our REEDSPORT, FARM VET, DID exploratory surgery on my dog, 1980's. $900.00 and I was broke, he did it anyway! Had him paid off in 4 months! He was a gift from GOD, HELPED HIS COMMUNITY!! TODAY, ALL IS MONEY, THEY WATCH YOUR DOG, CAT, DIE, KNOWING! SHAMEFUL ON THEM!! GOD BLESS YOU!! AMEN 8:55

Yep, it speaks to a bigger problem we have in this country, and that's called usury - the term for banks and corporations being allowed by our government to take advantage of citizens with outrageous interest, charges, and price-gouging. But some of us who don't make much money but have pets and want to care for them have no choice. The cost of vet care is outrageous.

I took my dog to a vet because a hand weight fell of his paw. They xrayed his paw, and an xray specialist doctor said that his foot was broken. So they bandaged it. They also pressed me to buying a 6 months supply of 3 in one flea, heart worm and worm medication, even though I didn't want to give it to him. They made me feel like I was harming him if I didn't give him the medication. They also wanted me to come back every week. I paid with Care Credit because it was more than i had. But within a few few days, my dog was chewing the bandage off even with a collar. I took him in again, and they rewrapped it and told me to get an inflatable collar for him to wear with the plastic one that they put on him. It stressed him out so much that I just took it all off, including the bandages that were nearly all chewed off anyway. His foot seemed fine! I don't think that it was ever broken. My dog had no pain or trouble walking or running! I never went back to that place.

As an ex-animal protection officer and having to tell people they need to take their pet for medical treatment, knowing they were low income, it would make me so frustrated knowing they may not be able to get the needed help. It’s a small family run practice. My Fetch pet insurance doesn’t cover everything - and when it does, I still have to lay out the money and wait for them to approve and send the money back. I have don’t have that liquid money, so I had to pay for the surgery on the Pet Care credit card- and until all the stars aligned with getting 80% of the claim back and having the money to fund the rest, I was getting hounded by Pet Care who was harassing me with daily phone calls. Yes. Care Credit is 30% regardless of credit score. I don't get vet care much over $200. My vets no longer do payment plans and now I have a rescue dog with congenital deformities that need surgery... I had to stop reading the horror story comments because it was breaking my heart. I am so sorry people are going through this. If you’re fairly new to this channel, please watch he is very good at giving you the confidence to say no to heartworm and some vaccinations along with great at home options like coconut oil for the teeth. I adopted one dog with fairly bad teeth, but yet none of the vets brought it up and I just continued with regular brushing or dental sprays and dental chews and definitely coconut oil and as much as possible I try and add homemade food(I swear the higher quality you could feed makes a huge difference) to their dog food and it’s almost completely cleared up. Also, my boyfriend is a surgical podiatrist and many times. I’m a nervous Nellie and want to go to the vet immediately and he convinces me to give it a day or two and most of the time things resolve. Good luck everyone navigating this new greedy world where they take advantage.

Two years later, he has doubled the employees and the costs are astronomical. My emergency vet in another town charged me $4,500 only to put my beloved furball down after a week but still wanted $850 down for further treatment that was futile. My husband and I said stop! We need to make a compassionate decision here. Yep, care credit was used and I had to pay off the balance immediately by using HELOC money I have for emergencies. So borrow from Peter to pay Paul. @seanassaidi I'm so sorry you went through that it's not easy at all. I'm still in debt from last year but now that I know alot from his videos has saved me so much money now. It just sickens me how some vets are like that. I haven't went to one where is wasn't like that.

Here in the UK vets mostly prey on pet owners emotions resulting in, like solicitors, having a license to print money. Fortunately I have a vet who is fair re fees and attitude, but this isn’t the norm. When will this situation be challenged and changed?

I don't think we've become more attached to our pets over time. They just realized that there's a lucrative market in it and that they could take advantage of pet parents and their love for their pets. Practices today have multiple vets and charge sick visits as 'emergencies', UNLESS you're willing to wait 2 weeks when Felix or Fido has stopped eating, develops diarrhea, has eye discharge, and so forth to have them seen. It's a sin. I never leave with anything less than a $250 bill. What's worse is that these vets overbook, and when clients like me keep insisting something ELSE is wrong, I'm brushed aside until I request a proBNP. Then, because I was told their BP machine was down, I had to learn from a cardiologist that my cat doesn't *just* have CKD, but also, heart disease and high BP. Sub-qs for his CKD could've killed him. Cardiologist thought it was odd that their BP machine was down since they do surgeries, spays, neuters, etc... They were just sick of me because I'd become a pest, especially when I was started freaking out that they'd dismissed my concerns for so long that I was worrying that my cat was going to have a heart attack over the holidays as I awaited his month-out cardiology consult. Ultimately, I got fired.

Thank you for sharing this. I have been saying this for the last 5 years - there no longer is animal health care but instead, animal health business. I recall years ago a very expensive set of surgeries and the vet clinic allowed me to pay it off in payments over 3 months. This worked out well though it was very very tough for me to do. An animal's life was saved and not contingent upon whether I could pay or not.

They come at you through your love..Call it what it is. Evil. Met many vets over years . Went from those called with a heart for animals to most infused with a spirit of greed . Watched people doing a medical degree. Human or veterinarian Concluded that spirit enters into them there . Accompanied by coldness and hardness of heart. Seen here in South Africa elderly people turned away with their pet cause they cant afford the care. And watching you sir, most solutions are affordable. To any of those greedy kind of vets reading this. You will answer before God. His animals are precious to Him as well as the people caring for them.

My son was told his 12yo female cat had breast cancer and without $3000.00 surgery- she would pass away in two weeks. That was last year. Shes still happy and surprize(!)--- her lump has diminished in size. Its hard-- its $400-$600 for every Vet visit. My son is a fulltime college student and going to the Vet depletes his student aid- which he gladly does. Itd be nice if Vets realized the hardships some pet owners face. I know that isnt reality-- but its fun to think ideally.

Thankfully for where I live we have a county wide low cost basic vet care clinics that not just cover spay/neuter and vaccines, but dental, flea and tick medicine as well. If you're in USA, check with local animal shelter and ask who they use for vet care...that's how I found out about this program.

I have used Care Credit multiple times. You MUST pay off the balance within the promotional period or else. I just noticed the 30% on my last billing. That used to be called usery. My mouth fell open. I agree with you that no credit card should be able to charge that much. Pet insurance is not affordable for me either. I have multiple pets. I got a quote for just 2 that was over $100 per month. I have 5 pets. Luckily, I have a private veterinarian, not corporate.

My previous Vet was well known as being one of the best. Through experience, he was able to diagonose by feeling vs tests as you mentioned in the video. Unfortunately he retired. I now go to corporate vet but I seek out the old timer Vet. They are old school in a new veternary environment. I explained my financial situation and they understand; though they have to suggest tests but they do not really push it... instead they give alternative actions or wait and see approach. Your dog goes to vet with the runs and they want to run blood or do xrays for blockage. Younger Vets tend to be more corporate in nature and less empathetic. Pet insurance is not cheap. Even with the insurance, you still have to pay the preminums and then the deductible and copay---so in effect your responsibilties are still high for the under $1500 bills.

I shop around for everything, good vets in MN are so difficult to find. I use my own credit card. One time I took my cats for regular checkup, this clinic took advantage of me. First they charged deposit of 100.00 in case I miss the appointment. Then when I showed up for the appointment, they never refunded the deposit like they said they would do. Then after asking about their services, they charged me fees of services they never provided. After I left the clinic they had charged my cc up to 900.00. I disputed with them first, got their reason in writing that they will not refund me for any of services. Then I disputed with the credit card company. I got all my money back. The clinic was mad told me I’m banned lol I’m not going back ever.

I have a Care Credit but I pay off the charge within the promotional period. But yes, you def. can get into trouble with it. I have a dog with IMHA and they wanted to do blood transfusions. We opted out and are doing a holistic protocol. She is doing very well with it. Vet seems disappointed. Last time I was there they wanted me to do her vaccines, flea/tick meds and heartworm meds. I can't believe they wanted me to do this considering her illness. I hate how the veterinary business has changed... it's sad.

8 min in: ‘get an accurate diagnosis’…..problem with this idea is that the vets who are on commission may claim they cannot give a diagnosis without ‘upselling’ expensive imaging or other tests that are actually not necessary. My friend took their cat to a corporate clinic. Xray showed a mass in the abdomen. The friend was never going to do expensive and risky surgery on the senior cat. Did the ‘mass’ have to be identified? Rather than discussing this, the vet (who was, apparently, qualified enough -having GRADUATED vet school - to identify a potential mass on the xray) instead sold my friend on the need for more xrays and a consult with a vet radiologist to ‘read’ the xray. The radiologist said ‘yep its probably a mass’ and my friend was charged several hundred dollars.

I’ve tried many OTC pills and sprays and shampoos. Nothing helps. He is constantly scratching and licking his paws. On SS, I can’t afford to keep going to the vet and spending hundreds each visit for them to “try” something else. The dog is miserable. I’m miserable. I don’t know what to do.
