Is your ROUTER selling your data??

Ғылым және технология

All traffic from devices connecting to your Wi-Fi passes through your router.
How much do you know about what your router is actually doing with that data?
Which data does it collect?
Is it tracking the websites you visit?
Is it selling your data to 3rd parties?
A great article was released this week in CNet by Ry Crist, diving into all of this, and as an expert who has been researching routers for years he was able to dig into the privacy policies of major router companies and also ask them directly about their data policies.
We dive into what you need to know about routers: the data your router has access to, whether your privacy is at risk, and tools you can use to protect yourself.

I agree she has some interesting content, but needs to sort out the poor audio quality and learn to be a presenter. If someone is talking at 100mph and making noises between words constantly, I am not going to keep watching. She must come from a job or home in which no one would let her speak and now thinks she needs to talk as fast as possible and keep going, which means she interrupts herself, forgets what has just been said, and it descends in to sounding very unstructured. I like her as a person and respect the knowledge she has, but it might be best to slow down, stop tripping herself up and stop talking so fast. Getting a different person to do the presenting might be the answer. There are lots of videos for beginners to learn how to adjust audio and reproduce it, also lots on how to make videos and how to film etc. Rambling away on the video means people lose interest and forget everything said.

Indeed, I'd be interested in seeing a security assessment of pfSense and of Untangle. I'm currently using the latter because pfSense doesn't have the greatest hardware compatibility. Additionally, for all of my storage devices and the Windows PCs on my network, I have them behind a secondary router running CentOS so I can closely control ports and segregate my wireless traffic.

I would say enable on whichever device you are browsing from. Enabling on the phone I do not think will encrypt the traffic of the Hotspot. You could connect to VPN on both, but that would be redundant if you are only using the one device to browse. So if you are using both, connect VPN on both, and if you are using one device, just connect the device you are actively using.

The poor audio could easily be solved using one of the clip-on microphones. The problem with the microphones people are told to buy if they are on youtube is that they're often poor quality and have software to compensate - which most have no clue how to use, so set it all to maximum. It's similar to when radio stations all tried to sound the loudest, the audio was tiring to listen to. Use a cheap electret condensor mic, ditch the silly software, then you will have decent full range audio.
