@Fromage For word processing and browsing, yes. But for real work like app and web development, no. I used a really cheap laptop, cheaper than an iPad + keyboard case, back when I just started working. I'm from a poor family from a 3rd world country so it can't be helped. It's really slow but it works. You just need patience. An iPad can't do most of the things my laptop can. And honestly my phone can do most of the things an iPad can do, minus the big screen, of course.

While your here a sub to the channel would be amazing. I used a USB to SATA adapter for those who want to attempt this. Also sometimes you have to change some settings in the bios so don't rage if it doesn't work off the jump :)

If you want a laptop to run at it’s peek speed you can normally plug it in as sometimes it’s the battery degradation that effects it. but I like what you did as you was fast and effective.

SSDs really do make a huge difference, especially in older machines. My 2018 Dell G7 7588 gaming PC ran pretty old for an i7, but 8t had a traditional hard drive. I upgraded my ram from 16GB to 32GB and made both my boot drive and storage drive NVME SSD and now my PC runs like a new one.

Not often is ram faulty or CPU faulty etc. Whenever I refurbish a device my standard practice is replacing the thermal paste on the CPU/GPU, cleaning the mobo with alcohol, cleaning vents and fans and throwing in an SSD. You can make a 2015 device nice and snappy that way. Won't be a gaming masterpiece but it'll be more than practical. My 4th gen i5 lappy is still going strong with 100+fps in Minecraft :)

this is literally what happened to my own hp laptop. Admittedly it was dropped once due to my carelessness (had a chassis tear/dent on the top left corner of the screen), but once the HDD was replaced with an SSD, boy was that an improvement. (i think physical shock could've affected the HDD, it was pretty slow regardless)
