The Importance of Fungus in Your Aquarium!!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

One of the critical component sof your aquarium is FUNGI! Why didn't we know?
Mycelium is the roots of fungus. It must be in your tank. Lotic and lentic water must be understood.
Microfauna is the tiny animals our fish eat.
We didn't know. This changes everything. There are 2000 species of fungi living in your aquarium. Get outside into the wilds, the woods, the stream, the ponds and find decaying leaves. It will bring life into your aquarium.

yes some fungi is introduced into the aquarium through compost and such in the substrate of the fatherfish method. Also botanicals im sure have some spores. You would be surprised at how effective and far spores can travel. Fungi work with the plants to break down matter. I do appreciate fatherfish trying out different ways to deliver his videos. However I found this one a little difficult to follow and I am not sure if it is the editing, his excitement, or the little man flying around that I find distracting. That's just me and I am weird so don't take it to heart. But honestly I am find with just some video or photos of fish, plants, nature, or whatever he is talking about and fatherfish in the bottom corner of the screen talking. Real fatherfish or digital fatherfish.

However, when I turned on the filter, the water flow stirred up the particles, making the water cloudy. What should I do? I think the current flow isn't good for the microfauna. Please advise...is there any problem if i dont use the filter..

Although specific studies on plankton consuming fungal spores are limited, the interconnected nature of freshwater ecosystems suggests that such interactions likely occur. The wood pieces in my sump should take around a year or two to be completely consumed which will maintain a presence of spores within the water there after...These spores have evolved to thrive in both environments... Here is an example of their effectiveness,,, I placed one FRESH green leaf into my tank and within three days mycelium began to grow on the leaf even though there was no signs of decomposition within that time yet all other plants in my tank remain totally un effected....!

Aquatic environments are intrinsically connected to terrestrial environments, One of the other things hardly mentioned is protein, An average garden pond would probably consume around 24 grams of protein a week from external sources such as insects dead fish and dead micro fauna.. A regular seasonal supply of nutrition from external sources is required to sustain the volume of biological organisms that specialise on consuming them...

Should i directly setup organic soil in tank and create immediate setup by adding plants? Or can i wait for week for ammonia to gases off? B.) how many plants should i add for my 20 Gallon tank? You have to be careful. I learned the hard way. Put whatever you collect into a mason jar with the water from the pond. Keep it in there for at least 30 days- I prefer with a small air stone and valve control. Look at it very, VERY carefully. Use a magnifying 🔍 glass, if possible. I did not look careful enough. My resurrection jar had planaria in it that I missed. I placed these leaves in my Neocaridina shrimp tank. Before I realized it, the Planaria had multiplied in numbers. They almost completely wiped out all of my Neocaridina shrimp. I had a couple hundred and now I have maybe 20 left. So, be careful and really examine that jar before you toss its contents into your tanks.

Hey Father Fish! I have a heavily planted 20g tank with about 4” of sand, i’ve been slowly adding decaying leaves from local waterways and the tank appears to be thriving! Ever since i started listening to you i’ve had no fish die in any tanks. Although, i never added a dirt substrate layer to the 20g, just sand.. I am tempted to take everything out and start from scratch but is it worth it?? I want to go filterless and start a food web. Would i be better off just leaving the tank alone and continuing to add decaying plant matter??

I would imagine over time, fish poo and other particles will make it below your sand and that would be your "dirt" layer. If your tank is doing fine, I would just keep doing what you are doing. I have that hair algae in my tank cause i got carried away with adding huge amounts of daphnia i had in the pond. I mean, i was without trying, catching like 300 every dip. Well the hair algae came with it. Bad. What do i do.
