It’s not the most well known fact but Waluigi actually has had some character development over a bunch of games, particularly with the occasional games where he has dialogue and some character descriptions give him a little bit of background He craves the spotlight (Most recently mentioned in Super Mario Odyssey) and to do so he watched Mario & Luigi from the shadows for years as he plans to beat the Mario brothers and in turn be seen as a superstar. He’s quite a show off and really likes to play up in front of a crowd, being extra boastful when he wins and extra salty when he loses. He also has a fragile ego, furious when people mistake him for Luigi and literally thinks the sun is trying to outshine him. Along with that he’s a try hard as descriptions explain he trains very hard behind the scenes however he hides a bit of a lack of confidence in himself, calling himself a failure when he loses in Super Mario Party and even saying people would need to be desperate to add him to their group, as well as being quick to accept Eggman’s offer to sabotage Luigi in the Olympics while Wario is quite confident he doesn’t need the assistance. Other than all that, occasionally there’s evidence he has a crush on Daisy Overall he’s a lot deeper than many think

Waluigi actully appears in Some Mario Mangas and is some how strong enough to carry a giant baby chain chomp.

I think a Wario and Waluigi rpg, like the Mario and Luigi series, would be crazy fun and could be a cheaper budget title. Maybe an eShop exclusive.

My theory on Waluigi is pretty much the same as his out-of-universe origin. Wario couldn't get into the Tennis tournament without a partner, so he picked some random guy who hated Luigi for whatever reason. I think that's the funnier thing about Waluigi. The fact that he and Wario have absolutely no relation of any kind. He's just that guy Wario calls when he needs to get into a team sport.

Ever since brawl came out, I wanted Waluigi in simply so all 4 plumbers could fight each other

Waluigi is turning 21! This means he can finally have alcohol!

There is one major reason Waluigi deserves more spotlight - not just as a Smash fighter, but with his own games, as well - and I think that a lot of people don't really understand that. Yes, Waluigi is a funny character, and yes, there is also some depth to him that deserves to be explored. But what really stands out is that Waluigi has the buried potential to add the crucial ingredient that Nintendo is still missing. We may have Peach, and Daisy, and Rosalina, but with Waluigi we have a chance for a truly, undeniably _sexy_ Mario character.

I think that if Waluigi were to get his own game it'd need to be given the Tingle treatent, like those weird Zelda spinoffs.

Really would be nice to see a game out of him.

Waluigi's my go-to character in Mario spin-offs as well. I absolutely don't expect him to get a spot in Smash, let alone his own game. I think it'd be already neat if he got some kind of role in mainline Mario, the RPG series, or even Wario's own games. Maybe even Luigi's Mansion. That'd be cool.

Most of Waluigi's own meme popularity exploded after Brawl in the Family came out with the whole TOO BAD, WALUIGI TIME thing.

I just love his awesome confidence despite the odds and his over the top..ness. He's awesome and a bit inspirational

I think the thing with waluigi is we havnt seen him really do anything villainous on his own. He's a victim of circumstance, obviously good friends with the greedy wario, so he gets roped into shenanigans with him, sometimes told to do things by bowser, but in general, he doesnt do anything bad on his own. On top of that he's got pure underdog energy, he's the mirror of the mario brother in the shadow. A shadow in a mirror if you will. And nintendo neglects him due to that. They focus on Mario, acknowledge luigi's existence sometimes, and wario has his own spinoff stuff, but Waluigi gets nothing, furthering his underdog status. Hes just kind of almost relatable, very sympatric character.

I always thought of Wario and Waluigi as two kids who were born into poor families who lived in some really bad neighbourhood together and took very different views on life. Wario saw being poor and blamed the lack of money for it; leading to him being incredibly covetous and greedy. Waluigi on the other hand took being poor and blamed others for having better luck; leading to him resenting those who were better of than him in general. The reason I think they are friends while being so vastly different is a shared past of having to deal with life in the gutter. This also explains why they hate Mario and Luigi as they always have everything just work out for them. They always save the day and they always get the girl. Both Wario and Waluigi know that they have what it takes to do exactly what the Mario bros do but no-one ever gives them a chance. That links back to their shared past of having nothing and not having a choice as to what opportunities they were given in life. They still see it as being denied what they feel that they deserve by this point after all the grief they have had to go through. This is why they not only feel like they have to be better than Mario and Luigi but they feel they have to break and tear them down in the same way in which they were broken and torn in order for them to deserve what they have. Waluigi and dry bones are my 2 favorite Mario characters. I use both of them every chance I get

Highly doubt itll happen, or even if we will get new characters, but I would love Wario and Waluigi to be added as playable characters in the new Super Mario 3D world switch port. Again, highly unlikely but that would be amazing.

Easily my favorite character of any Nintendo IP. He is relatable. He is no hero. Nothing good happened to him. He is bitter. He's not even evil just cynical.

Waluigi doesn't need special unique-to-him abilities to be in Smash. The Mario spin-offs are a huge part of Nintendo's legacy, but all the other Mario characters have more important things that needed to be represented in their movesets, so the spinoffs aren't represented that well. Waluigi doesn't have this issue. The idea of a Smash moveset based on the mechanics of Mario Party alone is an interesting enough idea for Waluigi to be considered, and if he's also representing Mario Kart and Mario Sports, he has more than enough potential. His lack of unique apperences allows him fill a role no one else is perfectly fit for.

Honestly seeing the guy as no more as a meme. People pull character details just from whatever they want to theorize and fanfict out of his occasional random appearance. Problem with his arc type of a character: he's pretty much just a carbon copy of the cartoon villain (examples like Dick Dastardly or Robbie Rottens come to mind) and while people find such guys amusing and endearing in certain aspects, that does not insert anything original nor gives people anything but the way how voice actors and animators decide to randomly add to the role. People just seem to enjoy to make the joke an even bigger insider. People want to be random and sometimes just troll others or mess with people when they go over the guy, I feel.

I don't know why they didn't just call him Waigi or something lol I don't like saying his name it's a bit of a tongue twister. You've broken it down really interesting he has a cool origin story but the memes ruin him a bit.

Fuck the meme, I genuinely think its disrespectful to put daisy in smash but leave out waluigi. I wish he got more respect and wasn't just some side character that never got a game. Seriously bums me out learning he has no official lore cause I grew up thinking he was Wario's brother, and I assumed he was giving a lot more respect than he really got. As you can probably see, my main issue with how he is treated has to do with respect, because it makes me feel disrespected as a fan. At least his other fans can connect with him and expand his lore :(

kind of lost interest in seeing this guy as a playable in smash, even as the star of his own game. I think he might be best off playing a secondary role but still having an effect on the game or whatever (waluigi appears nonetheless!). But that psycho waluigi could be cool to try.

Great video, but IMO his popularity is 95% meme, he will likely never be playable in Smash, and never gets his own game. I'd say inclusion in Smash is much more likely than getting his own game, though. I think generally Nintendo will want to avoid using him too prominently because they have a culture that prioritizes respecting the creations of their more senior developers. While Waluigi does have input from Miyamoto, it's more attenuated than for most Mario characters because much of the design was developed by Camelot and it seems like Miyamoto more or less just came up with the general concept. Nintendo is probably also aware that Waluigi's popularity is more likely than not memetic rather than actual, so I don't see them taking financial risk making a Waluigi game, but $5 character DLC (or an incentive to buy the next Smash game) would allow them to dip their toes in that water without committing too much.

They could make waluigi make like the duck game or the goat simulators game, I be real waluigi got no fan inside Nintendo or their second party company.

Sorry, but I think Waluigi is the weakest out of the main 4 Mario characters. He lacks depth without his own game. Plus, Waluigi is a character that only exists because the other 3 characters exist and feels that more pointless because of that.

@@PressStartToContinueYT Yeah unfortunately, but I wouldn’t be opposed to him forming an identity of his own in a Waluigi game! Luigi has Luigi’s Mansion and Wario has WarioWare. I’m sure they can come up with something equally creative for Waluigi and it selling well! It would probably need to be an action game like the other Mario characters have, so even though a Waluigi RPG might sound great, it just would be too out of place... To be honest, I don’t really know where to go from there... Do you have any ideas?

Honestly, everyone almost literally crying and shouting for Walugi in Smash, really put me off him as a character. There is WAY more interesting, diverse, unique characters across all the Mario games. Especially the RPGs. Yet eveyone keeps insisting on another "Human" Mario character, that can use a tennis racket, bombs, and...Basic physical attacks? He's goofy comic relief, but unlike Wario who has multiple series without any reference to Walugi even existing, he just doesn't have the same versitilty and fun factor in a non sports game. He was literally only created to give Wario a partner in sports and other party like games.
