Two things: 1. When Ryan finally goes to Tokyo Disneyland, I would love to see a haul video of all the souvenirs he buys 2. I can't wait until someone picks Living with the Land. The added holiday overlay just makes it that much better
Former Carousel of Progress CM here. 99.9% of the time, when the carousel stops rotating or is unable to rotate it’s because someone has exited the theater into the backstage area/ride path and a CM had to go retrieve them. So thank a guest for your ability to repeat the scene. Also, I was working here one night when one of my fellow CMs claimed they saw a ghost in the attraction that yelled at them for leaning against the wall. We used to have phantom alarms that we would attribute to the ghost as well.

Little Egypt was a burlesque performer at the world’s fair. So you are correct that it’s dad’s smut! 😂
Just wanted to say that the two-hour runtime episodes are much appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I was at the 1964 World's Fair in New York and I absolutely remember riding 'It's a Small World" and being enamored of it - My mom took me on it 2 times in spite of the very long lines. I also remember the "world of tomorrow' but I remember not liking it - but that's because I was 5. LOL My grandparents had a coal stove for warmth and then finally a coal furnace, and they had a well handle in their kitchen sink and I loved pumping that thing. Water was warmed on the wood/coal stove. Thank you for this, it really took me back ❤❤❤
ryan being the only one chuckling in the carousel is hilarious to me
Originally I didn't think I was going to like this podcast as much because I've not been to any of the parks you've talked about, but I've gotten really into it!!! Ryan and Byron's commentary is so funny, and I find the segment talking about the history of the ride really interesting, even though I've never been on the ride myself lol. I hope this podcast keeps going strong! :)
Everyone's hair is looking very good in today's video
Jamie Lee Curtis could 100% pull off the snark of the lead character, rolling her eyes at her husband. Can’t you just see her leaning over and scolding the dog for interrupting her husband interrupting? Disney, you need to make The Carousel of Progress: The Movie!

I distinctly remember that the Carousel of Progress was the first Disney ride I ever went on. As an 8 year old who'd been hyped on how exciting Disney was gonna be, let's just say it didn't leave the best impression on me. Obviously as an adult I can appreciate it now.

Love the podcast so much! However, as a South African who has not been able to go to any of these theme parks, please add as much photos/images/clips as you can to help visualize!
This was an iconic choice
I can't believe someone managed to find Mike. I only ever see that guy at other people's parties so it's nice to see someone else talk theme parks with him outside of a social setting.
Mike was such a great addition to the pod! His knowledge and enthusiasm was engaging- and showing up with the notes shows how much he cares haha! Love it
I feel like I just discovered Mike From The Party, and suddenly here he is on one of my favourite theme park series! Magic is real, y'all.
MIKE!!!!!! FROM THE PARTY!!!!!!
The shame on their faces every time they passed a test was hilarious! I think the "does this have a comprehensible story" round was a bit harsh. The question isn't will it make a good movie, and Mike coming in with a literal quote from an A-lister saying they wanted to do it (on top of it legitimately being theatre in a ride) should have made that an easy pass.
I just have to say that I am absolutely obsessed with this podcast after finding it only last week. I haven’t had the privilege to ride Carousel of Tomorrow, but your shared enthusiasm is enough to keep me hooked. Living in Aus, I’m nowhere close to my fave theme parks so this podcast keeps me fed whilst I dream of my next trip.
I've been hoping this ride would get covered. I don't know if it'll pass the World Class test, but it is definitely World Class in my heart (which is all that matters in the end.) Looking forward to getting all the details about my favorite Disney attraction (most of which I'm sure I've never heard before!)
This was surprisingly interesting to watch as someone with minimal theme park experience. I've been skipping these since I have no real personal experience with the topic, but was positively surprised! Particularly enjoyed the more historical aspect and it was really fun having a guest who's so invested in the attraction!
2 hour video talking about Carousel of Progress is proof that it’s a world class attraction!! Love these videos keep them coming!
1:40:10 Imagine a Marriage Story style movie based off this ride 😂
My fav WDW OG ride that still exists today (RIP Horizons). Thanks for covering it! The 'My Food Rocks!" apron is a reference to the 'Food Rocks' WDW attraction that was in Epcot The Land Pavilion.
Here is a FYA/Ghost Files crossover. The original Carousel of Progress theatre in DL is supposed to be haunted by a cast member who was killed after being trapped between the moving walls.

I didn’t go on the Carousel of Progress until after a handful of visits to Disney World but I LOVE this ride. It’s a great reset ride to chill out, rest your feet, enjoy some AC, and watch a lovely little show. The music is so catchy and if someone needs a short nap they can also take it, but I leave singing the song and bouncing side to side
MikeFromTheParty on FYA Pod with a 2 hour long episode about Carousel of Progress? This is the magnum opus. This is my Roman Empire. Loved this boys. Thank you 🙏
In the middle of a Magic Kingdom Day... a 22-minute, walk-on, sit down, indoor, air conditioned attraction... World Class!!!
A part of me is like... They forget to mention that when you're in Orlando, Florida... It is hot 🔥 So the fact that it is next to Space mountain after lining up for other rides that maybe 40+ mins... This "ride" provides A/C & a good solid one too; to combat heat. For sure the future scene did not age well... But at the same time, it is a form of entertainment, and also a ride that everyone can ride with small children. A lot of people forget that Disney World is more of a family theme park and a lot of the times... If 1 kid is too short for height requirements... 1 parent stays with one kid & the other kid goes with the other parent on the ride. Which isn't fun, so rather than wait in the hot sun ☀️ it's nice that there is a ride like this right beside Space mountain to kill time
My theory is that the “extra daughter” is actually a hired servant girl and it’s a lesson in the history of child labor.
The dog animatronic is the highlight for me
Where are my Byron stans at?
FYA PATREON PLSSSS I WANNA SUPPORT BECAUSE THIS IS MY FAVORITE PODCAST🙏
It always gives me a hop in my step after because I'm so in love with the fact that nothing else like this exists and it's kind of a beautiful moment that this is Disney's legacy attraction. And it definitely aged well....it's practically history but we get to experience it today. And also, the ride always looks as if it's brand new every time I'm on it.
i’ve never been so happy for a ride to achieve world class standing (that is until living with the land comes along)
Great to see you Mike! We'll chat again at the next party!

Cut to holding on for dear life as the carousel of progress starts malfunctioning😂🎉 to paraphrase Shrek " it's A Great Big beautiful tomorrow... but not for us😂"
I think this is my favourite episode, the fight during the test had me laughing so hard 😂😂😂😂
Byron you have a nice singing voice!
"I think I'll take one of those new-fangled trolleys down to the drugstore soda fountain and meet the boys for a cold sarsaparilla" just sounds like a copy pasta and I'm surprised it hasn't caught on yet

I’m dreading how low the score will be Edit: Hey, first 6/10 World Class pass! Very pleasantly surprised.
When I was 16 I went to Disney world and the carousel of progress was my only must-ride. I only found one of my friends willing to sit through it with me but by the end of that ride we were singing along and bounced into the park after 20 minutes to refresh in that dark, air-conditioned room. Absolutely stellar experience, I regret nothing
the trios in the last two episodes have been great, both have such a good vibe together. sooo in love with this podcast seriously
I've never been to WDW, but this is now definitely on my must ride list! Mike absolutely sold it with his love, and Byron and Ryan with their recounting of the dialog lol.

Carousel of Progress is a must see every single time for me! Walt's ties to the attraction and all its history make it a no brainer for every trip. I can see why regular guests might not love this or care about it, but those in the know pay their respects every chance they can get. I also just discovered Mike's channel a few weeks ago and I adore him!

I have not been to Disney since I was a child 30+ years ago, and have not been to any amusement park in the last 20 years, and yet I look forward to this podcast every week. 😂
Carousel of progress is my favorite ride, so I'm so happy that someone prepared like Mike was ready to go to bat for it.
i always had an idea for a carousel of progress tv show sitcom/drama where each episode is the family stuck in a different era and is trying to escape it only to get stuck in another era, john and sarah's impending divore could be a major plot point
Fly is the most incredibly themed coaster and ride experience combined ever. The innovation vekoma achieved with the flying coaster model is fantastic, the preshow on the ride is unexpected and fun, the land is absolutely one of the most immersive areas in a park akin to diagon alley at universal. Its beautiful, exciting and fun. Dont sleep on phantasialand.

I've never been on The Carousel of Progress, but as soon as I heard the voice of the mom in those clips I knew exactly who it was. Her name is B.J. The commentary you guys have for this ride is making me laugh so much 😂😂😂
The ranch of colas!! 😂 Brilliant! I’m gonna start calling root beer that from now on
Am I the only one who thinks that a new version of CoP (in addition to the old version still operating) focusing on the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s would actually be popular? Seems like that would be really cool, especially in Disneyland since the OG CoP is at WDW.
Yay, Mike from the Party!!! And please keep this series going, its my absolute new favorite theme park show
YES!!!! we love mike from the party!!!!!
i got stuck on this ride once because people kept getting up to leave, so I was stuck in the 1920s for like 4 playthroughs.
This is one of my favorite rides!!!! I tricked my best friend to go on this our senior year when we went for marching band!! It was me and three other of guy friends. My Best Guy friend was the only one who hadn’t been on and we CONVINCED HIM that it was the best ride in the entire park! And it was actually scary at one point and he was so CONVINCED!! Once we got on the ride he kept thinking it was going to be something different until the end and then he was just so pissed off. The rest of the day me and the other guys kept singing the song, and it to this day is my favorite ride. When I was little the first time my dad took me and my sister on it too, I was so small I couldn’t even remember it. I just remembered the song and loved it. When my sister and I went back at the age of 8 & 10 with my parents we died laughing at the dry joked and the wife and husband back and forth
I HAD THE SAME DISNEYLAND ALBUM!!! The song is honestly one of my favorites, to the point that I put it on my undergrad graduation cap lol
best believe i’m here again as an ex flight of passage cast member asking to be on the pod for that episode 🤧
no matter what anyone tells me, the Carousel of Progress is one of my favorite rides. i want to live in the ride. the vibes are right. the vibes are safe.
I like the idea of Mike's to retro the last scene to the 60s. As a ride, it would make more sense. Also, the father was in the kitchen doing nothing for three decades while mom talked about or did manual labor. Only until the last decade dad was actually cooking... but only because things were supposedly automated? Was that supposed to represent the changing gender roles??? This is one of my favorite rides because of nostalgia. I was heartbroken when they changed the theme song.
Insane that you made a podcast about this, and even more insane that you covered it for 2 hours!
Been waiting for this one!! Let’s go squad ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I wonder how many first time tourists mistakenly go on it thinking it’s a “carousel”
My family also got trapped on this ride the first time we rode it! We were on the last scene and watched it 6-8 times before being released. We were 'traumatized' and would joke about it on future trips. Unfortunately it made my family HATE that ride, but once I learned more about the attraction, I learned to love it... from a distance. I've only ridden it once in the many years since that trip and it was during my stent at a CM. I don't think we will ever fully recover.
Yes, Patreon! And FYA merch - please? 🙏🏻
If Carousel of Progress had a movie adaptation, it would have serious National Lampoon's vibes
I didnt think i'd see someone more self righteous than jenny defending ET, much less carousel of progress, and yet here we are.

Oh! This is the episode that Shane was talking about in the live show. Glad Ryan is feeling better.

When the dad and the son are talking about the Hoochie Coochie, that was actually a popular "sexually provocative belly dance-like" dance that was performed at multiple World's Fairs around the turn of the century (according to Wikipedia). It was *very* popular with men. So yeah, the dad keeping the stereoscope hidden from the mom was like the 1900s version of hiding his Playboys under the bed. Gross.
