Is time running out for Justin Fields? | 2023 Bears | Parkins & Spiegel

Спорт

Justin Fields and the Bears failed in their comeback bid late in a 27-17 loss to the Buccaneers in Week 2. That has left Chicago to wonder: What's the future hold for the Bears' QB1? Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel are split on whether they're in or out on Fields at this time. Should they have more confidence just two games into the 2023 season?

What else can Fields do to change the narrative? We’ve been down this road too many times. If he isn’t showing growth in his 3rd effing year in the league then it’s clear he’s not gonna figure it out. Getsy is a bad playcaller and Eberflus is a dud of a head coach, but a good QB can overcome this stuff. Even if the situation isn’t perfect. The game is finally breaking him mentally and we all saw it against Tampa Bay. I really wanted him to be the guy because his talents are so dynamic, but just like Trubisky, Cutler, Grossman, Orton, etc. his faults outweigh the positives. P.S, whoever they get next will have the same issue. It starts with ownership. McCaskeys are right up there as the worst owners in football.

Why was Eberflush never a head coach before, Getsy never a NFL offensive coordinator before the Bears. Why do people who want Fields out; because he needs PROPER coaching. He has the talent, you see it every week. Bears OLine has been a problem for 40 years. It never gets corrected. Nagy to Eberfluke? Where's the upgrade? Looks the same to me. Self preservation CYA is rampant in the Bear Organization. The McCaskeys only care that they APPEAR to change with the times...not actually do it. The C on the helmet is not for Chicago...it's for Cents, Cheap Labor, complacency. Fields is the first player drafted that you heard of before he was on the team. Eberfluke? Nagy? Getsy? The Bears been trying to make steak from 85% bologna since the 85 Bears... didn't want to pay then either. They see it as an entertainment business, Ziegfeld Follies. "Come see men in uniforms, throwing a ball around! Enjoy $$$$$$" meanwhile in reality we see low budget products...Almost Pizza.

When receivers are open and Fields can't see them, how is that Getsy's fault? Have you thought that the team was flat because they knew Fields can't do the job? Players know. I think Bagent sees those wide open receivers and hits them. I think Bagent can lead us to 10 or 11 victories this year.

The Whole McCaskeys being bad owners is so played out. It’s a lazy narrative. They hire the GM and then sign checks. That’s all they have to do. There are tons of teams that haven’t had the success the Bears have had over the last 7 years. NFC championship in 2010 and superbowl In 06’. The fact is every team is trying to win. There’s only so much talent to go around. Wether that’s in the front office, sidelines and gridiron. If winning, picking the best players, front office, sideline coaches was so easy lots of teams would be better than they are. But it’s not, it’s hard and it takes luck as well!! But no one will admit that.

@Portuducks When he has to be gameplanned against in a real football week he is likely to struggle. He can't run Getsys whole system because he doesn't know it yet. We don't even know if Getsy is good or not. Also Justin is running Getsys offense. Fields problem is not running the system. His problem is holding the ball too long and throwing from the pocket. Those issues are partly due to him being uncomfortable as a pocket passer with a shaky oline but also the Bears are using him wrong and not calling the right plays at the right down and distance. They are fucking him up just like Nagy did. If they roll him out. Commit to the run. And play action he will succeed. Every good play he has made this year was off of playaction, a roll out and after establish the run early in the drive. It's not rocket science.

This is Luke gets his second year as an offensive coordinator… Off to a bad start, he obviously has some great plays but then he decides to continue doing things that are obvious and possibly too complicated for Justin… And the receivers or the blocking… He needs to get better at doing what Justin does best, keep it on the move, use him in the running game maybe three or four times at least… Get him running and open in the field and get his receivers more open by running to the left or right on a QB waggle, when he’s out in the open defenders come up and try to tackle them which leaves guys open… But it doesn’t have to be complicated, keep it simple, go for the deep fall once in a while don’t just stick to simple screenplays to become too predictable… I want Luke gets it to be a really good coordinator but he seems to be still learning How to be a good one… Because I can’t blame Justin for all these things, obviously he needs to get better at getting rid of the ball and have confidence in his receivers and blocking but I can see why he’s hesitant because he doesn’t want to throw an interception… So he seems quite hesitant… But if he doesn’t stop fearing that then he’ll never get used to throwing the ball down the field but he’s got a learn how to trust himself and his guys and start throwing the ball with flow, timing and rhythm. I know he can do this you just gotta get it in his head. And get that confidence back

The solution is run the ball with Roschon, and allow Fields to catch teams napping with play action passing, or on sneaky QB runs. Poles has had two years to fix decades of issues. IMHO we need a pro-quality (Olin Kruetz type) center and depending on how the rest of the season pans out maybe an LT... When Jenkins comes back the weak link (on paper) will be our LT. Every other position has good enough players there to win now. They do need more quality depth but this is one of the more stacked units we've had in Chicago in a while... D is another story but this O should be a lot closer to looking like a legit offense than it's shown so far...

He's not tho. He's staring down open receivers and not throwing the ball. He doesn't process the game at NFL speed. He needs to cut the ball loose like he did on their last scoring drive consistently. He had all day to throw yesterday day and looked like a shell shocked man. Moore is consistently winning his routes. There are players running open and he doesn't trust in it. Rex Grossman was a better QB. Pick or not, he would let the thing rip if he thought he had the opportunity. I don't like this coaching staff, but you can't deny that even when the opportunity presents itself, Fields is wiffing on opportunities left and right. Watching him on all 22 is rough. He needs to cut the ball loose or bail sooner.

Believe it or not, he has a lot of time. What else are they gonna? Start Bagent? He probably has until mid season realistically to show he can consistently play well. At the moment it’s easy to blame the fact it’s the start of the season, Tevin is out, playcalling, etc but come week 8 or 9 the excuses would have to be expired at that point. Poles played that trade right regardless. They’ll have draft capital to draft TWO high first round picks based on how they and the Panthers are playing. I’m starting to think they never actually wanted Fields but they realized keeping him and using that first overall pick as means to get several quality players (in theory) and sucking for two years would be worth it. And it might be. The way to win these days is with a QB in his rookie deal. Have the team already built went they walk in the door…Chiefs, Bengals, Ravens, Eagles, Cam Newton Panthers, Young Brady Patriots, Young Big Ben Steelers, the list goes on. Poles is building the unglamorous positions that take time to develop AND can play long in the league first, linemen and linebackers. A WR1 that’s only 25, a young corner. Dude, as I type this this is making sense. The draft is QB heavy next year too 🤯👀

Luke Getsy needs to go. Lets see what Fields does one year outside that mans influence. Getsy is only known for being a QB coordinator for Packers. Would be significant if this was the early years of Rodgers but it wasnt. This was when Rodgers was established veteran. Now Eberflus I think needs to take control of defense. Granted defense didnt play well. But they were beat up in the secondary pretty badly, they were going up against a very strong offensive line and still getting penetration, they were out there longer than what they should have been in that weather, and they held the Bucs to just 27 points even with the amount of time Bucs had control of the ball. I am not looking for a victory against KC. I am just looking for defensive improvement at this point. I like Poles and the moves he has made although I think he might be looking a bit too long term at times with his picks, I dont see what he picked being complete busts. Poles never drafted Fields reminder as well.

That’s not how things work most teams don’t scout and find a Brady like player and nowadays a pocket QB isn’t what will win you a chip doing what WORKS WELL wins you a chip. Jalen Hurts is being used effectively to his skills not a pocket QB defense carver but using what he does well wins games. Time to move on from trying to find a Brady because it’s not gonna happen.

Fields needs to decide does he want $5 million a year or $52 million a year?!! He needs to say "F-it" and either DEMAND more runs and open it up. Quit being so respectful to Getsy and start getting INTENSE. But maybe Fields is satisfied with $5 million a year. If so, let the other younger QBs make the $50 mill a year and get Fields and supporting cast out of the way by the end of 2023. And POLES and WARREN, stop with the corporate speak INTELLIGENT SPENDING and go BIG at times. The Bears are worth many many billions and the cash flow is flowing!! No offense on WARREN, but his resume was mainly steering the ship and managing orgs with no waves. I guarantee, Warren and Poles will continue with the intelligent spending being in the same hallway as the Halas Clan. They will save face and hide behind the predictable move by Axing the Coaching staff and corporate speak, "blah blah blah we are making moves for the Future, blah blah blah.
