Is This The BEST Saw Blade Ever? / Freud Premier Fusion

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Getting good quality table saw cuts is significant to woodworkers who consider themselves to be serious about their woodworking and what they are making which is often boxes, picture frames, and quality furniture like chairs, tables, cabinets, and benches. We have often relied on high-quality dedicated cross-cutting and ripping blades for these purposes. Still, anyone who has seen the quality of cuts you can get from the Freud Premier Fusion, General Purpose blade can quickly change their mind. If you are constantly swapping blades in your table saw, you will definitely want to look at this blade. Imagine a blade that is good as the best ripping and crossing blades, but you never have to change the Freud blade, that's the kind of quality you can expect, clean saw blade cuts with virtually no tear-out, chipping of wood fiber loss, truly the next generation in saw blades from Freud tools.

I cut melamine every day with Freud blades on a table saw and on a chop saw, and I can say that the blade will always do well at first, however within a short time it will be dull enough to chip out the "bottom" melamine, and only with a sacrificial board can you be assured of a clean cut. This is why most cabinets are cut on CNC router tables with sacrificial MDF sheets under the melamine. When I need a clean cut on both sides I might use a sacrificial piece or sometimes I use a track saw since that can also get pretty good clean cuts on both sides. Melamine is tough on saw blades and the glues and resins they bind the wood together with aren't great either. Just my two cents.

One reason Diablo blades are so good is they ARE made by Freud. Actually Bosch owns both the Freud and Diablo brands. While Freud is normally rated as the best in price range, and rightfully so, Diablo is just a little bit lower in quality and price range. Keep in mind, BOTH are high quality tools and well worth the price. Comparing these two brands of the same type/style blades, will show the results are nearly identical. Thanks for another GREAT video. As always, you present a load of educational information.

I've been telling people about this blade whenever there is interest in woodworking and I will say it again: this is really the best single blade you can get. It's literally an "upgrade" for any table saw that doesn't have one. Forget about those boutique blades that keep getting recommended by youtubers trying to do a favor for their buddies who sell crappy blades... Freud Industrial makes good blades and other cutting tools in general but this Premier Fusion is really going to be the last blade you buy for your table saw. I use the P410T which is the thin-kerf version. You will be able to make precise cuts in any kind of wood. It stays crazy sharp for so long, that even though the initial price is higher it will keep going whereas cheaper blades would have had to have been replaced or resharpened...and there's enough meat on the teeth to resharpen the P410T when it finally does need it (mine 5+ years still sharp as new and I've cut many feet of wood in that time).

You're probably doing it wrong. The blade won't flex if you manage the feed rate, which depends on the power of your saw and the material you are cutting. Anything more than a moderate pressure is too much (if you are using a miter saw), and with a table saw you need to properly align the blade to the riving knife before using it.

I like the Freud blades but on my Sawstop Industrial cabinet saw the Freud blades are shorter in height than the riving knife so if you are doing a cut that doesn't pass through the piece and have the riving knife on, the knife hits the cut and lifts the board up. It's kinda bull that you have to grind the riving knife down to do these kind of cuts. None of my other blades are like this.

I think what you mean is, will the SawStop safety system still function with this blade even though it has a red coating. I have a couple of red Freud blades for my SawStop PCS, and the test is to mount the blade in the saw, turn the main power switch on and let the saw go through it's self tests, then gently touch one tooth with your finger (blade not spinning, obviously). If the red light flashes, then you know the saw can sense your finger and it will work. My red Freud blades pass this test so yes they work fine.

I'm going to guess this is covered on your Choosing Blades video referenced at the end, but you probably should not use the full kerf blade if you have a lower hp saw. (I have a 3 hp Sawstop, and have used premier fusion for quite some time.) It is my understanding all the Diablo blades are think kerf. Also, why are you not using a riving knife when ripping those boards? (I would have said blade guard, but then the viewer would not be able to see the cut.) I think viewers newer to the use of a table saw should be instructed on some basic safety ideas, or at least told when you are not following them.

My Popular Tool blades or Amana or made to order cermet blades from Carbide Processors plus several other manufacturers are sharper and stay sharper. The company you’re recommending has become more of a basic consumer blade and not for the real user of the tool. Everyone should keep their blades clean.
