Choosing the Best Table Saw Blades: Woodworking for Beginners #30
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I review how to choose the Best Table Saw Blade for your woodworking projects.
In most workshops the table saw is the most important woodworking tool so selecting saw blades for the table saw is crucial in getting good results in your furniture making and DIY projects whether it's ripping blades, crosscut blades or trimming baldes. These saw blades can also be used on the mitre saw.

The value and quality of a video lesson is proven when it is still needed and being watched SIX years later!
Thank you for doing the actual testing, it really shows the differences between each blade!
Extremely comprehensive and valuable information to someone who is just starting out woodworking. Thank you!
Hi Colin I love the way that you show and explain one by one , step by step . Thanks a lot for the great video . Next video could you please explain and show ** jig saw blades ** in the same way . Best wishes from Ankara Turkey :)
Thanks for sharing its been nice experience watching you talking about blades and the most thing I admired the zoom in for blades its been like answering without asking you thank you again.
Thank you... This will improve the quality of my work. The detail covered in your videos can not be compared to others.
Fantastic video! I just bought my first full size table saw and this was exactly the kind of information I was looking for!
Great video for a beginner like me. Was planning on a new blade today and found this just in time. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Thank you for taking the time for showing us the difference between blades.
You are such a great teacher. Thank you so much for this, and all your videos.
very easy to understand yet after doing woodworking for over 40 years I was still able to learn something. Probably would have to say this was the best video on blades that I have seen. This is one of the few places I will subscribe too. Great Job!!

Great video Colin. Can clearly see the differences in cut quiality of the rip cut, cross cut and combination baldes.
It great to review the basics from time to time. Thanks.
Excellent demo of the two major blade types and a bonus include of the combo blade.
Very educational and well done. Thank you for taking the time to show actual cuts.
Very comprehensive and straight forward.....thanks so much!!
This may be the most educational video I've ever watched. Thank you.
Great job on the video, excellent tutorial that demonstrates the advantages of spending a little money on good blades.
Excellent! Great job and thank you for bringing this video!
That is exactly what I needed. As a beginner, I needed info on the different blade cuts. Another greet video. Thank you Colin.

The Freud Fusion is an excellent choice for a combination blade. Forrest makes a good combination and so does Ridge Carbide. Ridge Carbide is kind of a small company, but manufactures great blades.

+Tony bp You will find that a lot of branded tools use generic blades that offer very poor quality. The only companies in my opinion that offer good blades in all their products is Festool and Mafell.
I really appreciate seeing someone showcasing the use of a blade guard as it’s not as common to see people use one in videos when demonstrating. It’s a great safety feature more people should use.
Thank you, thank you very much for your so nice showing between three different blades. You are a very good adviser, teacher.
Just wanted to say thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos. I have been in construction, onsite superintendent, project manager, and now for the past 6 plus years a renovations contractor business owner. I really enjoy your straightforward sharing of information. Not theatrical or over dramatized presentations. Thanks 👍👍👍

Awesome video. Right to the point with examples. Much appreciated
What an excellent demonstration! Thanks!
Thank you for sharing this wisdom . love learning about woodworking
Age old questions have just been answered to me. Thanks.
Great video Colin. I just picked up my first 90 tooth Diablo blade a couple months ago and I was amazed how well it performed over my combo blade. The cut was so good it felt like it was planed smooth. I can't wait to pick up a dedicated ripping blade.

Yup, having the right blade for the right cut make a world of difference! Thanks for watching.
Thanks! this is great info. I'm a slave to the combo blade and your video gives me the kick to make the smart dedicated blade choice.
Great insight to blades mate & many folks crap on trying only to sell blades as they are expensive & your presentation is thorough & honest & appreciated 👍👍👍

Thank you for this video, it is excellent and really helped me choose a couple blades.
My favorite is a 60 tooth for everyday use. We are renovation contractors and these blades seem to give is consistent cuts for a variety of materials in either rip or cross cuts. We put 10” 60T blades on both our miter and table saws.
Brilliant insight and comparisons...thanks so much
Awesome video exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again!

Was not an educator but somehow seem to have slipped into that mode ... thanks for your comments Robert
very very helpful for a newbie like me, sir ! these blades are costly, now way to experiment .
Just what i needed to know. Many thanks.
I bought a cheap table saw, and also a mitre saw. Changing the blades from standard to better ones made the machines 100% better. Turns out they supplied the machines with 40 tooth blades, gone for ripping lumber for framing but for cutting plywood was awful. New ones are 84 tooth blades which is great for ply. Loving the channel Colin! 👍🏻

Great information. Thank you.
Found out that by mistake. Cross cut blade was gunned up from ripping. so used another blade (ripping) and hey presto great rips. Thank you, Now I know which to use.
Very informative. Thank you .
Very pro explained. You are booked as my missed teacher in the past. God thank for youtube ;-)

Start off with just chisels, hand saw and planes. You can get all of this for cheap. Learn the basics of making joints such as tenon, dovetails and lapping joints.
Thank you for a great video!!!
Great info!!
Thank you awesome explanation 👍🏽
Thank you sir for the knowledge!
This was very helpful. Thank you..
WOW ! What a great video. I never realized one should change blades when going from a rip cut to a cross cut. I always used a 60 tooth one blade do all. When it started to burn or smoke I knew it was time for a new blade. Barry G. Kery

Barry, sometimes if the blade causes smoking you should try cleaning the blade, make sure you're not using a crosscut blade for ripping, be sure the material isn't pinching the blade & the material isn't being pushed sideways because it's bowed or twisted. I hope this helps.
Great to be able to see the actual cuts made by the different blades, thanks! Am curious how much better and composite blade would be (one that's made for man-made boards such as particle board, plywood and MDF) over a crosscut blade for the plywood and melamine.
Excellent, thanks.
Thanks Very helpful info!

Great video and thank you for such practical information with real examples. I appreciate and hope to see more videos in a similar format for various tools, concepts, and techniques. I'm certainly not a professional woodworker, and all these years I never knew this about the blades. I am now equiped with information for better quality cuts. As with most tools, they rarely come with detailed descriptions about the features and even less in the form of examples, assuming that those who purchase them already know how to use them. Speaking of which, one day I'll learn how to sharpen my band saw and circular saw blades, chainsaw blades, and drill bits.

Great video Lots of help
I use a combo blade a lot and it works well for most things, when I need fine cuts I use the 80 tooth blade ripping or cross cutting and I get excellent results most of he time. Good video and good job.

Hi, I am new to woodworking and just purchased my 7 1/4 Dewalt Circular saw and been looking for the best blades. Would you mind telling me which Combo blade you think works the best? Ive been looking at the diablos. The 24, 40, and 60 tooth to be exact. Im looking for something decent that will cut plywood but will also make really fine clean cuts when Im making furniture. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Excellent infotmation foundation... thanks.
love al your videos, Colin ❤
Awesome video full of information thank you very much
wow, i am using a mitre saw nowadays to build my raised beds and i have noticed that the blade leaves a lot of ripping that i have to file out. Darn, I didnt even know there are different type of blades existing, I thought a mitre saw blade is just a mitre saw blade... It probably sounds ridiculous for many, but this is how some really beginners think :-) I cant thank you enough for this video! :-D

Emma T Mitre saws are for cross cutting. I today will still call them a cross cut saw while everybody else calls them a mitre saw. If you are using a mitre saw there is a chance that it has some generic cheap blade in it. So that can mean it might not be a genuine cross cutting blade. Have a look at a genuine cross cut blade from the likes of Freud/diable which are not that expensive but offer amazing quality for the price.
Very informative video. Thank you!
