Is this the BEST Canteen Ever? (Review)

Here we have a look at the canteen that I use between various packs. It is compact and versatile comprising of a generation 1 pathfinder bottle, grill, various foldable mugs together with the means to purify water and boil.

@@STIXSURVIVAL Another excellent video sir. Referring to your comments regarding the inch bag concept . Food is everywhere in the UK . in an inch bag situation, due do the fact that it matters not how many legs your food has when it all goes tits up , ..none, ,2,4,6,8 or more ... No rule of law makes EVERYTHING EDIBLE . 😎👍

@@davidjacobs828 So true David the only thing off the menu has to be my granny 😂 Thanks so much for the view and comment, I took a pelter from someone that wanted to tell me, boiling water taken from next to a chemical plant was not safe. I told him if you are taking water from next to a chemical plant your not in a survival situation or in a fit state of mind 😂

@@STIXSURVIVAL Yes,thanks for taking the time to reply.."🤣😅 Your video demonstrates perfect way to treat water in order to make it safe to drink . In an urban environment I'd use my grayl geopress which does remove all chemicals. You were quite right to point out the fact that chemical removal is a non issue in the Scottish wilderness. Plus ,adding a couple of handfulls of crushed charcoal from your fire to the bottom of your millbank bag would remove all chemicals if required . You're obviously very knowledgeable... I intend to watch your inch bag video next .. Thanks again ..

Scotland is scarcely populated: 5mln on 80,000 sq.km, and most of the population is urbanised in lowlands. Food cacheing is actually a great idea that'd work in Scotland. You can cache a month worth of food in a single plastic bucket, and then dot them across the land (obviously keeping a map for later tracking). As for that canteen being the "best", it really depends, the best for which purposes. Their only advantage is that they work a treat doubling as a hot-water bottle and warming up the bedding. I'm kinda moving away from round steel canteens - they never sit snug on the belt, always dangling; and they're heavy. For carrying large volumes of water (2L-4L), bladders seem to be a better idea as they don't weigh much. For boiling water, there's the Crusader cup and as a backup one could have either a titanium flask (Keith, Lixada, Tomshoo, etc) or a steel one. Alas, the perfect canteen is yet to be designed.

Great little cook set youve built up and nice to see it all in action so to speak. I'm Looking forwards to the survival tin review mate. Always like to see others take on what they carry in theirs. As it's nice to add odd bits that you'd probably never think of. I always say your never too old to learn something new, especially now days with new fancy technical kit that maybe we didn't have back in the day. I've been studying and practicing survival techniques since around 1976 including my time in the military and even now still find myself picking up new tips etc. So the old adage of old dog n new tricks definitely runs true lol. Anyway enough waffle from me. Stay safe mate. ATB Rob ( from a sleepy little town , you might of heard of called London ) 😉👍

@@STIXSURVIVAL that's the one mate, bit quiet for my liking thou lol. Only kidding. Can't wait to see it mate. I know we kind of had a quick chat about em a few months ago, and of all the psk tins out there yours is the one I'm looking forwards too. Can I ask what's your opinion of the pathfinder Cup lid ? I got a first gen set up myself but found it a little too easy to bend out of shape ! Might just be me being a little heavy handed ( old bootnecks tend to be abit on the clumsy side when it comes down to kit lol ) just wondering if you've had any issues with yours ? It's an easy fix, don't get me wrong. Just annoying more then anything - but then that's probably the perfectionist in me coming out 🤣 Be lucky fella, I'll catch up with you later ATB Rob
