Truck camping in Scotland

This is my truck setup at the moment for camping out for the weekend. Luckily the tarp was up before the rain came down. Also complete disaster as my cadac 30 decided to go bungee jumping off the table. We also review some great books and chill out. Oh also a few cold ones to hand. Morning time brings a welcome bacon roll and cup of coffe to finish the trip off.

Oh yes, one more thing. I've seen other channels do this to great effect (it is a bit more work for you I'm afraid but worth it) include Amazon/whatever site you use links in your description of all your goodies featured in that particular video, it does help sourcing stuff a bit easier.

@STIXSURVIVAL I was looking at a fishing bivvy and a camp bed, I'm getting too old to sleep on the floor One off the best things about the roof tent is the view from it

Late again mate, I do apologise. Busy week...when your pizza ( almost bit the dust ) the old bootneck in me almost screamed out " NO...NOT THE PIZZA " 😂 typical squaddie mentality worry about food before anything else... Great video as Always mate, and nice little set up showing how it should be done ! What's the old saying " any idiot can be uncomfortable " Nice book reviews too to give some ideas for after dinner reading material. Heard of the foragers handbook but the astral navigation ones a new one on me. Spot on advice about learning plants, berries etc in detail and learning them 100% definitely. Same with fungi and mushrooms better to learn just 1 then try and second guess " a might be " as might be the last mushroom you ever do eat ☠️ Did panic a little when you said it's April. Thought I'd lost a week somewhere or another. Thanks for the shout out again mate, I'm driving my Mrs up the wall with my new found you tube fame 🤣 ( if only mentioned in dispatches, makes my day 😊) I like the idea of your grab bag show and tell that your carrying in your truck ( as I believe your past videos on survival kit pouches or grab bags are some if not the best thought out kits on here, and I'd recommend any new subs to check out your early videos for no nonsense kit contents ideas.👍) love the idea of some truck camping trip videos too. Glad to see you out enjoying yourself again. Can't beat being out in the fresh Air with pizza and bacon rolls now that really is Survival. ATB mate , you and the family stay safe Rob 👍

@@STIXSURVIVAL my pleasure mate, always look forwards to your videos even if my wallet doesn't lol. With regards to the April bit, I know Scotland are kind of split about the whole independence bit, but didn't realise you had your own time zones up there 🤣. Only kidding tbh you were only a couple of days early so I'm sure we can let you off, blame all that fresh air. I meant to mention last night but completely slipped my mind, not sure if you've ever come across a book called " Survival Advantage" by a guy called Andy Lane. Published around 92ish, probably long out of print now. But I'd definitely recommend it to anyone to add to their survival library if they can track a copy down. I'd even go as far as saying its on par if not as good as Lofty's SAS survival handbook. Anyway look forwards to your next video mate. Especially as I think I've got a similar type bag as your grab bag, that's just crying out to be made into a grab n go kit Atb Rob 👍

Ok I've watched it all the way through. Wow, such a difference from the bare -bones bivvy bag in the woods, it's good though, and an unusual but welcome change in direction for you. I'd quite like to see (probably in the summer) a repeat of this, but extended, say 5-7 days duration, probably using solar to renew your power banks. I think it would be somewhat of a challenge given your duration would be longer, but your cargo area is a fixed size. Plus you'd likely need to purify water/forage a little too. (don't want to make it easy for you) I don't know, just a thought. P.S. Don't leave it so long between videos! :)

Thanks again. This has been a bit of a learning curve for me. Have mentioned it in a few videos, I had cancer so was pretty much out the game for a while (two years) and still not quite ready for a bivvy bag. This seamed a nice way to keep getting outside. I’ll defo do more but will still always be true to the bare bones or at least the basic needs. The little pack at the end will be a great test for me at some point but needed to get away from just doing Maxpedition gear. I’d also like to show others it’s irrelevant what kind of camping they do as there’s something for everyone. Just got to get outside.

Just having a wee watch through your videos. Notice your ecoflow, I’ve just had to return the Bluetti I had bought for touring round in the rooftent. I was pretty disappointed with the device, originally ecoflow was the top of the list! Watched so many different videos on the matter 😵‍💫 what’s your thoughts on the ecoflow? My children are intent on heading back over to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, we were there for short trip last year.

Hi Lisa again thanks for your time. I just had a wee peak at your channel and duly subscribed, love the roof tent I’m also about to purchase one next year for the truck. So the Ecoflow is probably the best bit of kit I’ve bought for a long time, I guess it depends on your requirements but the tech and build quality is sound with no issues. I went with the mid range, which can last the whole weekend depending on your usage. I would say if you are going to use it for hair drying, coffee making and perhaps a microwave then the next one up might be a better choice, however, my one link below www.currys.co.uk/products/ecoflow-delta-2-1024-wh-portable-power-station-10247434.html?istCompanyId=bec25c7e-cbcd-460d-81d5-a25372d2e3d7&istFeedId=4d7eb93e-055f-499d-8ee5-1cdcc50d67d1&istItemId=rmpawartp&istBid=t&srcid=198&cmpid=ppc~gg~2083%20(Shopping%20Ads)%20E-MOBILITY%20SBRE%20-%20All%20Products~2083%20(Shopping%20Ads)%20E-MOBILITY%20SBRE%20-%20All%20Products%20ad%20group~Exact~71700000083752711~&mctag=gg_goog_7904&kwid=GOOGLE&device=c&ds_kids=92700069072711144&tgtid=2083%20(Shopping%20Ads)%20E-MOBILITY%20SBRE%20-%20All%20Products&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIptulqJfPgAMVSeztCh0gwg-5EAYYASABEgI3EvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Has no issues running them, all at the same time would be pushing it. I also have a fridge on full time. If you are a light user wanting to charge things like Drones, phones, laptops and so on you will have little issues with this model. In fact if thats what your usage would be you might consider the river version, which is smaller and cheaper. The one I have could be taken up into the roof tent but does have a bit of weight to it. The one I have would easy cope with an electric blanket if you are camping in the winter. Of course you can also consider a solar panel to keep it topped up or an additional add on battery which would keep you set for the whole weekend. I hope this has helped and if you need anything further info just shout.

@@STIXSURVIVAL My channel is probably pretty bleak 🙈 I post most of my content on Instagram or fb however KZread has crossed my mind. I have since changed from the Ventura tent to the tentbox make itself, just getting ready now to head round some more of Donegal 🙂 The whole power supply thing has me vexed to be honest, I had looked at the river prior to getting the bluetti, I might just head that route for now. Again thank you 😊
