I am playing mine for 3 years now. It is simply a great Instrument! At gigs people tell me, that it just sounds great and as they have not looked at the headstock, they are baffled, when I tell them, that it is a budget bass. It plays well, it sounds great. I am playing bass since decades. This is not a beginner instrument. It is just good.

Great review Jonny! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thought that it was on the weighty side. In fact, the weight bothered me so much that I later bought a HB Standard Series Jazz bass in blue, which had a pretty bad neck, in my opinion - razor sharp frets. So I had the bright idea of combining the best parts of the 2 basses and now I have a beautiful blue bass with a smooth maple neck (love the block inlays) that plays great and looks awesome (a blue pearl scratch guard really brings it to life). Like you say, many people will mod the hell out of these basses and I'm enjoying it so far. Keep up the good work!

I've been learning on mine for several years now and I love it tbh. I bought it for a ton off ebay and it came with fender flats and was well set up by the seller. I've been playing with bach cello stuff on it and it's been a great exercise, and sounds surprisingly good.

Very informative as always Jonny, really good video once again. It’s always important to keep one eye on the price point when reviewing these instruments so for that kind of money it’s hard to be too critical. I wish this type of quality at an affordable price had been available when I was starting out my bass journey.

After getting a Harley Benton Strat and PBass, I have been contemplating one of their Jazz Basses, and as usual, you have definitely helped sell me one one. I always trust your opinions, which is rather unfortunate from a financial standpoint. Seriously, I don't think that you can find a better bass suited to punk. That bridge pick up really helps it punch through any mix with its treblely growl. Not that it's a one trick pony, because I think that Jazz Basses are a very versatile bass, and I absolutely love their necks. Bonus points for Harley Bentons being a great value!

I'm thinking of getting this one and converting it into a fretless (I know HB makes a great fretless jazz bass , but I love working on instruments and consider this a project) , I just wonder how the block marks would affect the sound , and wether I should go with the JB-62CC model instead , that doesn't have them. Are those two much different in terms of quality?
