Jazz Bass for 139 Euro? How good is the Harley Benton JB-75?

Музыка

Usually an instrument for under 150 Euro can't be worth anyone's time. They are toys and not really recommended for real musical use... but not in the case of this bass. Everything that counts is done right and the price is phenomenal. Just hear and see for yourself!

So funny. Im looking for a cheap bass and was looking on that at Thomann. When you asked her how to slapp, I just wished she would come out and do it. To my surprise she did it. Way to go. so funny. It made my day. Thanks.

Harley Benton makes great bass and guitars for beginner. But also for people with a lot of experience because "modding" those instruments a bit and they become great instruments to play. I'm playing guitar right now and i want also to play a bass. I think Harley Benton is the best choice for that. Cheap and good quality. Good video by the way!

I just bought it 2 weeks ago... It is brilliant! It came to me from Thomann with set intonation and action, and even almost in tune... I was shocked when I unpacked it and play it first time. For that money it is bargain of the century. And I agree it is heavy, I think they drilled some holes inside and filled it with lead :D Mine has a great wood selection, you can barely see the joint on the body and neck and fret board have a beautiful grain.

I own this bass in the natural/clear coat finish and I can attest that it is indeed worth every penny. How HB makes quality instruments for this price is astonishing. My only complaint is that it is very heavy [ 9:43 ]. Luckily I only need it for recording but it would be uncomfortable for live use. Easily 13 lbs or more.

If my back was against the wall the only criticism I could make is that the heads of the tuners feel a little weak to me but they have never let me down and tune well, it´s just a feeling. 9/10!

This is the best offering by Harley Benton regarding jazz basses........You're getting an American Ash body, alnico jazz pickups, a beefy 'D'-profile neck, Wilkinson standard jazz bridge with brass saddles. And can be purchased NEW from Thomann currently for $155 USD, plus shipping depending on where you live. I own the natural ash model. You will never beat Harley Benton on value for your buck. You can't even buy a Fender Squier new at that price, and their quality is not as good as the Harley Benton.

hello, i am thinking of buying this bass, but i would like to ask a few questions, the aspect and price make this bass very tempting and i would not like to spend more then i have to,i am thinking between this or the squier " SQ CV 70's Jazz Bass " that costs 379 euros, i reallize that this is a cheap bass and it costs literraly half than what the squier costs, but like i said i dont wanna spend more than i have to,especially if its my first bass but i would not like to buy the worst and cheapest just for the sake of buying, and after a year i am forced to change it and buy a new one. I want a bass that will last me a few years ! I would like to know is this is a good quality bass ? if its comfortable to play? if the electronics are bad? meaning that will i be forced to change them down the road ? is there buzzing from the pickups when you turn one off or on ? How well does it stay in tune ? and most importantly are there any sharp frets sticking out from the neck ? Is this bass worth it and is it worse than the squier? which one would you recomad ?

Henning can you suggest to Thomann to make a p bass that is the level of the jb-75? I have the deluxe bass but it is inferior with cheaper pickups, cheaper woods, just not the attention to detail. I am using the deluxe in my band (well my bass player is) but compared to the quality of all our other instruments (custom built telecasters, huge pedalboards and mid range drum kits) it is truly inferior. The JB-75 my housemate owns is much superior.

Thinking of 2 things:1) buying a Squier fretless.which is less expensive than the HB over here (and likely just as good or better) plus I can return it if there's something wrong. 2) turning my Yamaha fretted into a fretless (much better bass!). I would fill the fret slots with contrasting wood to make it easier to learn.

Hate to be that guy, but is there much wisdom in reviewing a bass people can't buy any more? Or is it a contractual thing? I get "technically a step up", but some might think the 6 months older pickups sound better, and if you have any jazz bass pickups that are 60 years old some folk they'd probably trade you for a set of new ones.

I remember my first bass, short scale, precision pickup, Encore, £100. I'd be very surprised if it was a wood body. For €150 you're right, short of electrocuting you the old pickups couldn't make a difference. I'm in the market for a jazz, was eyeing a Sire... And I'm sure this is fantastic but unless it has a purple, pink or Paisley finish I'll skip I think. Great to know this kind of gear is available, I'm excited to see what awesome music comes from more available instruments and recording equipment.
