Thanks Bro! This is a great video! I bought the same bass absolutely unused (plastic foil over the pick ups, shiny frets) for $85 in a pawn shop. I own a 5 string Ibanez 505 and a 4 string 300 Ibanez but I don't like to travel too far with my beloved axes so I purchased that cheap thing that I could afford to neglect or mistreat by accident when I'm on the road and I need to practice. The bass looked well built and I instantly liked the neck whereas it's just totally different from the Ibanez scheme of things. I also instantly loved the sound! You certainly know that live bass solo "Running" by David Margen on a Santana concert? Well, after switching to Rotosound strings of the same gauge, I had that same sound and the same comfort on the fingerboard, all with a cheap chinese knock off! Incredible! Believe it or not, not only is that bass NOT mistreated, but I use it more often than the two other basses combined! I totally agree with your observations that are spot on and better expressed than I could have done in a lifetime. Thanks for this excellent video. Peace be with you, Brother.

It's price is going up since it came out as Benton becomes a more respected and well known brand. I recently got the same one. Where I live, it's already far more than 80 bucks like when it first came out, but it's literally still a steal. The only real difference is visible when you compare it with basses from $600 and up, but even then it's not that different.

Brother, don't you mean replacing those D'Addario strings with Ernie Ball strings? Trust me when I say this. D'Addario strings are crap. They do not hold a tune and you cannot alternate your guitar with them on it. Does not matter if is a standard pitched six-string guitar or a bass pitched guitar. They are just f'ing crap. Ernie Ball's all the way man. F, A'ddario's. I hate those damn strings and love Ernie Ball's. They stay in tune for a much longer time and they sound much better.
