Gday everyone thanks for watching. If you want to see some rear shots/third person shots, check out Shane's video, kzread.info/dash/bejne/mJ6tzM9yhtTeZtI.html. He's the bloke on the WR450 sending it
Finally, a reviewer that advertises an off-road test, and takes it on more than a gravel road...

Maybe I'm a freak/nerd for this but it's actually appealing to me that this bike is very quiet from the factory. I really don't want to bother others around me when I'm on my bike, particularly around trails etc, so a quiet bike works for me!

Excellent review of an ADV bike doing ADV stuff. The 800DE just seems to be much more capable of road than the Transalp. I'm most likely going to get this bike soon.
@PerspectiveBeyond
Жыл бұрын
For me the worst part of the Transalp off-road is that part at the bottom of the engine that sticks out (and by a lot). It feels very delicate on rough terrain, and could also act as an "anchor" if it gets stuck behind a large rock or log. I guess a proper skid plate can mitigate this but, I don't know, feels like a big design flaw for an ADV.
I can already tell with a few aftermarket changes that this bike will be one of the top all-rounders! Nicely reviewed 🍻
This is a true definition for one adventure bike ! Bike for any chalange. Well done Suzuki 👍

Thank you mate! Instant sub. As a rabid 990 rider who dreads the day I need to put her to pasture, this video was perfect and gives me hope that I can find a "relatively" old school bike to take her place when I do. That type riding with a little more single track and a little less silt/sand is exactly what I love on my big orange girl, and watching your cockpit view and listening to your play by play was absolutely perfect. Great riding btw, and I can't wait to see you on it again with some new rubber and a bit of suspension tuning. Now if FMF would only make a pipe for it. Wow, impressive and brave riding on a new bike with those tyres. Nice colours. The blue looked good in this vid. @@onthebackwheel Glad to hear the RBW is fantastic - how do you think the RBW and power is compared to the Tuareg and the T7? If the electronics are really good, it wouldn't surprise me. Suzuki is often slagged off for being slow to release new bikes, or add new tech. But they tend to make bikes that really work. The first bike I ever rode with great ABS was a Suzuki. Also, I think Suzuki believes "If it ain't broke don't fix it!" This has allowed them to build great bikes and keep prices low and their components reliable. I hope your amazing riding and putting this Suzy 'through its paces' blows your channel up - you definitely deserve more subs and views. Cheers, CAM from NZ :)

Hey Curtis, with the bigger 17" rear and 21" front, maybe drop the triple clamps 3-4mm through the forks for a little sharper steering without effecting stability too much. I have done it on my slower turning bikes and it makes a noticeable difference. If you are worried about sand stability, if you have room, try moving the back wheel back in the adjusters. You just may need to get a few links longer chain.

I got a dr650 and I want something that can do long trips but also hit a trail or two if need be as I live way out in the mountains. This is very similar to the terrain out by me.
I’m sure many of us are KLR owners and may look for an upgrade one day. It would be amazing if you compare in detail the T7 and CFmoto (more) to the yellow beast. One thing I had hoped for was the tubeless tyres the way they had with previous spoked models. I like the idea of the V being more comfortable, reliable and larger tank. A combination the other 2 can’t offer.

At 10M52 you say the engine is not noisy enough. Suzuki has understood the trend all over the world towards less noise permitted and you need to consider that, even if it is not the case in OZ. Why would you need more noise? Ols macho stuff, I'm afraid. Little noise, much power sounds perfect to me and good on Suzuki for having understood that the world does not want a bunch of really noisy off road riders riding through some times private land. Great video! I was wondering why no one had taken it out on trails yet :O I test rode one last week, but will stay on my 650XT for now. I got my 650XT through some trails last weekend and surprised the KTMs and Teneres that I could keep their pace, but damn, I bottomed out quite often hahaha. Two of the things I really didn't like compared to the 650XT were 1) The vibrations through my feet. On the 650XT I don't feel any vibrations in my feet, while on the 800DE they were really annoying. 2) The head from the motor. It's a trade off for sure. Better suspension but more weight. It also has a proper off-road cradle. Weight is very hard to get rid of though...

@@onthebackwheel thats my main concern although i normally just do forest and gravel roads. Very light offroad. Any thoughts on the transalp? By the time i add some protection to the vstrom it may weight 530 pounds or perhaps more.

@@trailrider1980 if you're just doing light off road, I'd go the Transalp (I haven't ridden one so bear that in mind). In Australia it's also $3000 cheaper!

@@onthebackwheel pricing in the us is not out for the transalp yet, i may go suzuki if transalp here is significantly more expensive. Normally hondas in the usa carry a premium price....

@@trailrider1980 yeah right. I think the Suzuki is well priced. It's a super nice bike
I have a question. Can a roadbike handle the offroad ride or it is not recommended?? Thanks

I mean you can make it work... definitely not recommended though
It’s so strange that they have a ride a by wire throttle and the same start switch mount as the 1050 but omitted the cruise control. Oh well, I guess I’m waiting for a 800DE exclusive edition next year.

Yeah really bizarre tbh
Hi. I saw a Facebook post which included some footage of you on this ride from one of the other riders. It was pretty cool but I can’t find it anymore. Any ideas? Also might be good for you to post a link to it if you know where it is. Thanks

This or ktm 790 adventure 2023? 🤔
Cool bike. Not a fan of the yello. Black and grey would be more my style. Looks like it rides very well.

I don't mind the grey either, its nice
Looks like the overly long wheelbase makes it hard work off road and more suitable for sidecar racing. If you add a sidecar, you could carry a KX 112 in it to the bush edge😆

Not the worst idea I've heard 😆
Congrats on the new bike! Did you consider the XL750 Transalp?

I did. Suspension and lack of engine cradle were a bit of a turn off. Seems a bit more road orientated. Lots lighter though...

@@onthebackwheel yeah that is true. Tuareg couldn't sway you enough, rode it myself thought it was a cracking bike. Curious how the ground clearance, suspension and weight will suit your type of riding. Let the mods begin. Big thumbs up

@@olis790 if I didn't have the channel, I'd have a Tuareg. Loved that bike
The Suzuki is not handsome in my mind but that's not why I would buy one. I didn't buy my KLR for the looks, that's for sure. The Vstrom appears to have a lot of potential.
Interestinγ Bike. Don't know why the 17in back rim. It would be nice to have tubelless spoked wheels with cruise control (at least as an option). How do you compare this with the Tuareg?
@onthebackwheel

Agree, I would much prefer an 18 inch rear rim. First thoughts are Tuareg is better, this is a better every day/highway/commute bike though
